Well in my case it was back in 1989 and the country I was nicked in didn't exist about 4 or 5 months after the offence so I kept stum. I also got nicked in Czechoslovakia on the same trip, again the place ceased to exist soon after... It was on my own vehicle - a Moto Guzzi. A year later, on another Moto Guzzi, I was on my way to the arctic circle and got talking to someone on the ferry who warned me about speeding in Sweden. He got pulled and told to appear in court the next week as he was 'making progress' beyond the scale of on the spot fines. He legged it out of Sweden asap and didn't turn up in court (obvs). He received a letter at home explaining that he was now banned from driving (in Sweden) for x months (can't remember the exact length of time). After the time expired he got another letter saying he could now drive again in Sweden. None of this cost him a penny. No idea if he told his insurance.
