lovejoy got a reaction from STUNO in Daihatsu Disaster - Operation OMGHGF successfully completed
try hooking up a gravity fuel supply to the carb, then the engine will run long enough for the pump to suck up some fuel,
- you should see it spitting it out all over the engine, when it does. then light up a BIG cigar in extasy, and mind your eyebrows.
the only coolant leak I ever had was top hose to rad, and that was not the hose clip joint, but the brazed pipe to rad joint, cured with some poxy E compound.
so sorry you are having grief, but once you get it running, power open that sliding electric roof, tune in to the Archers, along with
the thrum of that offbeat 3 cyl production, you VILL B SMITTEN ! mein heir

well, hate to say it, but that lil red G11 Charade was my fifth, I think, and so impressed by the reliability of all of 'em,
first one was a shite brown G10 (aka Eddy Ramrod) which actually was a hoot to drive/thrash on 200 mile runs to Cornwall
from Dorset, never missed a beat, and more nicely finished than the G11's, electric release tailgate from dashboard
knob, for instance !
Had another silver one, no probs, then a green G11 bought in Dorchester for 200 quid, shipped it
4000 miles to the islands, where SWMBO had another 4-speed local version, but the best one, by far, was the facelift
Chinese-eye 1987 G11 in Mafia black for 80 quid, as it had a massive oil leak, which was only the oil sensor switch
in the rear of the block - apparently a known fault with G11's - take note, mein heir junkman !
can't recommend them more highly in the fun to drive stakes, for 993 cc !

lovejoy got a reaction from Junkman in NE1 4 Christmas Charades ?
Congratulations Dugong - should have packed you a supply of oily bacon sarnies too, did you get that
old BL radio I waved in front of you ? it WON"T fit the Charade - too deep,
Hope to meet up with you sometime, Christian, even the Charade keyring has your name on it;
what more could you ask for..... !

lovejoy got a reaction from Bamboocarman in NE1 4 Christmas Charades ?
and here's one of t'other side, which i forgot to add earlier....

Am sadly thinking of moving on this, which has served me well, just 47K genuine miles....
URL=http://s665.photobucket.com/user/lovejoyantiques/media/IMG_0577_zps38fc9b30.jpg.html][/url]
as earlier this year, I purloined this, from Wuvvum, of this parish.....
only room for one in the garage, so hastily constructed a tiny carport to keep it sorned under...
the 1984 G11 993cc 3 cyl charade is an AUTO !! and having had a brace of 5 speed manuals, I can safely say it is not as quick !! but I think there is a linkage missing on the carb, unsure but there seems to be a secondary venturi that does not have a visible connection to open it,and it's not vacuum operated.
That said, it keeps up with Cornish traffic ok, ideal down tiny country lanes, and goes thru mot's with just an advise on front tyres every year (at Kwik-Fit !!!).
Offers, please, in a brown paper bag; - go on, you know you want a laff for xmas !

lovejoy got a reaction from Asimo in Bike rack on an x1/9, anybody?
a folding moulton has to be the answer - fit it under the "bonnet" !

lovejoy got a reaction from trigger in NE1 4 Christmas Charades ?
Hi Trigger - tried to send you a PM, but says you can't accept any more ???
- so here it is, for all to read ! hope that's OK
Hi Trigger, just saw your request for more photos / info on my red G11 Charade...
I and the car are near Penzance, not sure where your sister is located ? I would prefer it goes to a like-minded autoshiter,
who will nurture the car rather than use it as a cheap daily hack;
There are no real issues, I have to change a manifold to downpipe gasket, which is already on order, as the mot man found a small blow, and put in some sealant as a temp measure.
the offside rear window works, but I think the channel has past
its sell by date (common Charade fault on the rears) as the glass can drop down, so I only open it a smidgeon.
With the electric steel sunroof, I tend to not use windows at all.
Interior is as original.no holes cut for speakers, original (working) AM radio (!) front seats have always had cover on since I've had it. All tools present, owners handbook, old mot's to prove mileage, I am not able to upload any photos here, but can scour Autoshite / Flickr for some others for you, but no interior shots taken.
I will be sorry to see it go, but as I have little storage, and go away for the winters, this is the reason for it being on offer. I think it's very fairly priced at what I paid for it a long while back ! cheers from a cold wet cornwall

lovejoy got a reaction from Junkman in NE1 4 Christmas Charades ?
Well, SAD TO SAY, but this lonely Charade has just passed yet another MOT, so,
with a heavy heart, I offer it once again, only this time it's not Sorned,but taxed till next
August - but that means nowt now....
Don't all rush at once (Junkman, this means YOU)

here we are, 64K from new, tax & MOT till Oct, dark blue, !.8 LS, leccie windows, sunroof,
cruise control, a/c needs re-charging.... top spec. leccy mirrors, good stereo, etc etc....

lovejoy got a reaction from Twiggy in Transferring Number Plates
just as long as it does not make the vehicle appear "younger"
you can transfer ANY older plate to a newer vehicle,
but NOT the other way round.
BOTH vehicles must be licenced, mot'd etc to do it.
