  1. I'll just chuck it at my garage come MOT time, and get them to look there, they are surprisingly inexpensive. Really pleased with it, I have wanted one ever since I saw my first one in a queue for a ferry way back in 2003. My son was amazed at the seat adjustments, he even found some that I hadn't yet discovered when on the journey back.
  2. Car drove excellent on the way home and returned 44.8mpg. Just a knock from a front suspension link somewhere as declared in the advert. It only did it on the very last speed-hump outside my house so can't complain. It's incredibly clean and tidy and a credit to the previous owner. My wife and son are big fans of it already.
  3. Collected, a pleasure @Schaefft Refreshments stop at the geese place. Car is huge!
  4. Good luck, it is indeed a fine day for a collection.
  5. There's no point in me starting another collection thread today as the first 2/3rds of the journey is exactly the same as the last one I did. Plus if you read my last thread you'll see that John Craven's behaviour was so obnoxious that I've told him that buses aren't for him and he's to stay home. Even the brand of car is the same. In short: Car to the train station to catch the 9.18 to Edinburgh. Megabus at 10.40 to Newcastle, arrives at 1.20. Unfortunately there is only 1 Megabus on a Sunday on this route so it means I have to kick about in town for a few hours before getting a 10 or 11 bus to the sellers house for 4pm. Hopefully everything goes smoothly. Car is paid for and insured and I have located a nearby fuel station.
  6. I also have a really weird Hotwheels cabriolet version with a blue driver 🤷‍♂️
  7. That style of Corgi E30, and its 1/36 bigger brother were my favourites. Even the more expensive Gama examples were way beneath them in terms of quality and finish.
  8. Buy my TT for a few hundred more and not have to worry about rot 😬 That era of Dacia are utterly grim. My Duster had really uncomfortable seats on a long journey too. Looked a bit better though.
  9. Hang the market Tim, it's not worth your time.
  10. Doing what you want and having fun, plus taking time out to share it all with us. Sounds pretty good to me.
  11. 100% avoid getting involved with that outfit, that sounds like a very bitter and messy separation. That's all going to go down the shutter completely in a short space of time.
  12. My mate Raymond had a brand new Focus 1.8 petrol in March 2000, W563 PGE. It was a Serec so had a good spec for its day and was in that then- fashionable yellowy gold colour. It drove spectacularly well, really quick with excellent roadholding. It looked refreshingly different inside and out and was just generally brilliant. I have no experience of a diesel focus or any 306 but I don't care to either.
  13. I don't, but it does remind me of a famous Father Ted scene!
  14. Not at all fake* review by 'Kayleigh' who is 100% a real* person.
  15. I was about to post that. I'm confused as to why my comment about cars made before 1980 being rubbish garnered 3 'confused' reactions. It's meant to be an Unpopular Opinion, therefore it's meant to be in this thread.
  16. Saab 9-5 petrols are lovely but they are flaky, needy, foutery things. I have also never seen a daily driven one that isn't a complete rot box.
  17. All cars made before 1980 were, essentially, complete rubbish.
  18. Renault Clio 172/182s are overrated. Based on my 2 year ownership experience of one which had received a lot of mechanical attention before I bought it: - Horribly rust prone. - Totally unreliable. The basic engine is very robust but everything else is utter dug meat. Injectors, sensors, etc are a constant worry. - Shady electrics - Shite build quality - ...and above all, not that fast. An average mid-range 1.8/2 litre car can keep up with them in a straight line. EVERYTHING went wrong with mine in the 2 years I had it. Injectors, coolant leaks, PAS leaks, earths. It was also hugely rotten and I fucked it off during Covid when my hand went through the outrigger and sill. 'Old car' is no excuse as I have had about ten other cars since then of a similar age and all have by and large been easy to live with. Also, it was a big disappointment after my truly excellent 2001 MK1 Megane which was none of the above things. Even though it was just a 1.4 it was actually quite nippy and both fun to drive and supremely comfortable. I never had any bother with it.
  19. Some great restoration and project work going on here of late. I really like the wheels on the Nova gasser, what a transformation!
  20. That Vee Dub is indeed very appealing. But one of my favourite cars from the collection given to me by my dad and uncles was the A60 Driving School car. I still have the box too so I'm really looking forward to see how your CMC issue stacks up.
  21. I can see the local headlines now: 'HUGE DROP IN SALE OF THE WEE CARS AT ST. GEORGES, THOUSANDS JOBLESS' 'It was like the Mary Celeste' said Frances as she packed away antique toy cars which remained unsold at just five pounds each. 'No difference to my trade, haven't sold any of them wee cars in a year', Alan of Alan's Emporium. 'That bugger said he'd have the beige Oxford Maestro I got in special, now I dont know what to do with it', Mulligans Irish Gifts. 'HAHAHAHAHAHA'. Nemesis, Fitzroy Avenue.
