  2. Reminded me of this exchange on Facebook. Turns out he was asking about a car to take stuff to the tip but you can generally tell how rough an area is by the number of ageing Vauxhalls littering the streets.
  3. I normally worry about selling cars I'm getting rid of until I actually wave goodbye to it and when they're gone I generally get over it pretty much straight away. I'm toying with flogging my Imp at the moment, whuch I bought in 2003, nearly finished restoring in 2010 and have left sitting there for 12yrs since, as I don't think I'll ever finish it these days. I have too much else going on, not enough room in the garage and too many aches and pains to actually do anything to it. Will be odd but fuck it, I've got to be realistic. That's just me though, maybe I'm a callous bastard. I still do pine over some cars I've sold but thats probably nostalgia I more than likely wasn't bothered after I sold them either.
  4. Don't think I was there for that, it was my mate who I owned the car with. However my memory is that (worryingly) bad, I'm not discounting the possibility that I've just totally forgotten.
  5. Ha, this thread was made even better by 'the world's shittest car club' meetup. That can be read in more than one way, all applicable.
  6. Fuel pump driver module on a Discovery Sport, according to the chap posting this on Reddit.

  8. Buying shite cars is crap these days innit. All I wanted was a reasonably local cheap banger I could lob on my classic policy, run for a fortnight whilst the Nissans getting painted and then sell on / roffle. There's naff all I can find old and interesting enough under £1k except the Raum I put on the ebay tat thread but Peter James won't insure it on my policy. The slightly more modern equivalent of shite that I got 10yrs ago for feck all now cost loads. I never quite appreciated the halcyon time we lived in. I wish I'd made more of it. Its like looking back on all the birds I blatantly could've banged years ago but didn't as I'm a fucking idiot and they're all with richer more successful blokes now (the cars and the women). I probably don't need a car really but was quite looking forward to buying one, smoking around in it and punting it on at minimal cost/hassle. Oh well, time to find those bicycle clips.
  9. Nice looking Volvo 340 for £1,100 hidden in brochures section. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353850673356?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338365712&toolid=20006&customid=EB49990142&
  10. I was gonna buy this as need a car for a couple of weeks from next week but my insurance policy says no, sorry its not a classic. https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1443673 Rear quarter window might be a pain to replace but suppose a bit of perspex could do. Totally new one on me this. Not sure whether I've never seen one or just never noticed them before? Suspect the former, I don't think many will have been imported.
  11. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/411798170776714/?ref=facebook_story_share I remember seeing a red one of these driving towards me in Rustington in the 1980s. Got all excited about the Aston Martin in the distance but then realised it wasn't as far away as I thought.
  12. I've never got metal in my eye whilst grinding: Many thanks to the British Army when having to return my kit, for believing me when I said I lost it. One thing I'd advise though, is check the rim for spiders. I didn't once and even a small spider looks quite big when it scurries across the lens millimetres from your eye. Could've easily lost a couple of fingers due to that one.
  13. My mum had a similar experience after her dad died when she was a kid. They were all having their tea about a week after he died, when he suddenly walked in the room, cue lots of hysteria. Turns out it was just his brother, who was the absolute spit of him popping in to see if they were alright. They were before he came round but not for a few hours afterwards. 😂
  14. You've probably already seen this but I was just reading a book and found this photo of a Palladium that I thought I'd share. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Gilligan
  15. One of the first bits of welding I ever did was there in the back of my mates 205 gti. It really is a horrible bit to repair isn't it.
  16. However there's some more further along the floor that I'll have to tackle from underneath that I can't face starting on today. It'll have to wait. I might ring the lad who runs the garage down the road and see if I can borrow his ramp on a weekend or something. Possibly worth a go. I'm not as agile rolling around under cars on the drive like I used to be.
  17. I didn't know about this one. Not that I'd have had a suitable car to turn up in at the moment. Great photos. Hopefully I'll have Meg ready for the next one.
  18. I noticed that paint on the N/S sill on Meg was looking a bit tatty recently, so decided to pop outside and paint it today. After cleaning it back and applying some rust protection, whilst I waited for it to dry I popped round to the O/S sill and started cleaning that. Fartknockers. So.... And I've still not painted the nearside. Gonna have to look at the inner sill where it joins the floor behind here tomorrow I think. Its 'crusty' but I'm hoping to get away with it. I need to get Meg on the road in the next few weeks whilst the Nissan is in for painting. Otherwise I'll be walking everywhere, although I probably do need the exercise.
  19. There was one (possibility even this one I guess) in Big Babies on CBBC. Snapshot of UKsenators spot so people don't need to scroll up and find it like I did. Probably isn't the same one, I cant quite tell from the photo but I guess that shows quite old now and there cant be many in a similar blue.
  20. National Hairdressers convention this weekend 'innit.
  21. Fitted the units in the back of the Nissan today. Just need to add everything else now. Hob & sink, electric of some sort, mattress, awning and fuck loads of other cripplingly expensive shit no doubt.
  22. 1968 Land Rover. Tax and MOT exempt.
  23. How much does one of them cost? Surely it must be nearly the same as the car?
