Just been taken out for a spin in this.
Fucking gorgeous interior.
Mate has paid £2.5k for it which seems fair.
The electrics survived the drive to the pub.

Here is the biography for Anne Sellors on IMDB.
Sounds like a great woman.
Wonder what she was in?

Went for a bike ride round Dalby Forest near pickering today. Stopped off at Matthewsons to have a snoop around but you can't really access anything anymore.
Did have this out front though.
We popped round the back and said hi to Derek who was at the gate and had a peer inside but I didn't take any photos. There was a fair bit of late 50s stuff getting shoved around, a TR2, Minor van and a Bedford CA.

It’s amazing to think you couldn’t give these things away when I passed my driving test.
I know I knocked the idea of one of them back for an 850 mini when I started driving.I sold a 2 door one for £50 once. There wasn't even much wrong with it, just needed a tiny bit of welding for the MOT but with what they were worth it just wasn't worth the bother.

now thats all of the Brave, especially in the US where I cant imagine there are many other dead XJ's you can pillage parts from is there?
When the ex me, ex Volksy, ex Barefoot, ex Volksy again XJ8 shat its gearbox at the beginning of Covid, they guy who bought it ran a business just crating the engines and sending them to the USA . He didn't even break the rest of the body, he just fragged it as there wasn't any money for him in the rest of it.

So I need to figure out why my phone thinks its connected but the stereo thinks its not.
Or chuck it in the bin. 😂

@HillmanImp the one I have doesn't have a cd player in so can't comment on that.
With Bluetooth if I play stuff on the phone and go through the source choices I get to BT Stream and it just works.
Does your model have streaming and not just calls?
Yeah, it works sometimes. Most of the time not though.
I get a message on my phone asking to connect to Blaupunkt which I agree to, my phone says its connected to Blaupunkt, keep hitting the SRC button but the stereo doesn't have an option for BT-STREAM, except for the times it does, which isnt very often.

Yeah, I'm probably gonna bin the fecker and put in another. Might try the AUX but am not holding my breath.
Have you tried pressing mute twice to see if it comes back on, sounds similar to one of my regular faults.

Thanks for the help. Very handy!
How are you finding the stereo? I've got that one and it just says 'Reading' most of the times on the CD and whilst my phone 'connects' to it, the stereo won't have 'BT - STREAM' as an option, I'll just scroll through endless DAB options I don't want and its just not got the streaming option. I spend most drives in total silence.
Sometimes it will connect or play the CD but will randomly stop playing the music, I'll need to mute it and un mute it to make it come out again.
'Absolutely wank' is my experience so far.
Plus it leaves a second gap between songs on the CDs, which is gash on a mix CD.

Sodding Google.
Anyhow, looking at it myself I'm not sure whether I should go through Iran or Russia?

Wondering how difficult it is to buy and import a car from Greece.
I'm trying to figure out how to get this back from Thailand.

This thread reminded me of when I was a kid and my parents had a 309 GE.
I used to have thoughts about how cool it would be to travel in time into the distant past (the 60s) with my dad's 309 so that they could be in awe of its advanced design.
Stuff like the engine that sounded like some spanners in a dustbin, or the picture of a lion where a rev counter or clock would go on the higher models, or the rough and scratchy hessian seat covers.
I could sell the patents to such wonders and become rich beyond my wildest dreams.
I thought that car was the fucking business. The business was probably a hot dog stand outside a vegan convention though.

Not sure if this warrants a spot or not but 2 Astra Gs parked next to each other in town must be a pretty rare event these days.

Very good idea about SA. Did they sell them over there?
I seem to remember that they did, unless I've dreamt it, which is quite possible these days. My memory isn't what it was.

Yeah, I wonder if there might also be some UK spec ones abroad, dragged over by ex pats and in a shed of a French holiday home or abandoned in the car park under a block of Spanish flats.
I'm off to northern Cyprus in a few weeks. If I see one when I'm leathered, I might do something stupid. Anyone fancy an adventure?

100bhp/tonne is minimum for safe overtakes on a-roads
150bhp/tonne is enough for road use without being excessive.
I overtook a couple of cars on the a614 today in the Volvo.

Yeah, it took a bit of a run up. 😂

Is there any modern car that's not up to a fast 200 mile motorway sprint? Back in 2007 I did Merseyside to Devon and back in a day driving a Chevy Matiz Enterprise rental car. I happily coped with being thrashed both ways.
A few years ago after Mrs Imp had crashed her car, she got a Yaris as a courtesy car.
I had to drive her to Liverpool as she was going abroad for a week and we took the Yaris down the M62 and it was absolutely bob on. Kept up with traffic, nice to drive, good on fuel, couldn't fault it.
Doing the same journey in the Visa would've been a fucking rattly, dangerous, full rev, tinnitus enducing nightmare.
Still, I felt like a right fucking tool driving the Yaris, like people are looking at me thinking 'look at that cunt, he's gone and spent £15k on a fucking Yaris, the loser' so drove the Jag to pick her up when she came back.

Quite old, high mileage, lots of previous owners, drinks too much, blows loudly from the back and the neighbours and your friends keep saying to get a newer better one.
