  1. Looks like plenty have been out enjoying the sunshine, some nice stuff on the roads this weekend but I've either been driving or without camera so no snaps unfortunately. Really really need to get some motivation to get on with something of my own in the next couple of weeks. Started dismantling on the Clio to replace the clutch the other day, but started to feel a bit out of my depth as it's a bigger job than I've taken on in a very long time. Pondering whether to go ahead and order the clutch kit which might give me some renewed enthusiasm, or whether that'll be a waste of money as I might not get it to a state where I can fit it.
  2. It's been a quiet few weeks since I picked up the Octavia, the first couple of hundred miles commuting have ticked by pretty effortlessly. Slightly (but not as much as I was maybe expecting) less brilliant on fuel economy than the Clio, but still perfectly acceptable. Getting used to just how grubby a white car can look after a day or two swatting insects up and down a dual carriageway.
  3. Nasty noises from the Clio's clutch today. Release bearing sounds like it's on it's last legs. Oh, and it's been shitting it down with rain nearly all afternoon, again.

Just read this through from the start, fantastic work and well saved!
  6. A couple for the Saab fans www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Saab-9-3-SE-convertible-soft-top-silver-2-3-petrol-1998 www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAAB-95-mot-till-March-2020
  7. Not sure if I've already seen this on the thread, or a similar one perhaps? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAZDA-626-GLX-AUTO-2-0-MOT-until-Sept-19- And requiring a bit of welding, but looking pretty awesome otherwise https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MG-ZS-180/143257377729?_trk
  8. 8 hours left on this one, tested til September. £200 start https://www.ebay.co.uk/...w56Fcx0J2
  9. Today has seen my annual rage at the price of our insurance renewal (Multicar with the sailor bloke, on my Clio & the OH's Mini). Will be making my annual indignant phone call tomorrow to tell them where to get off, having already found a quote for more than £200 less. Usually they match it without question, not sure I can be bothered to stay this time though. Horrible to think how many people must fall into the auto-renewal trap every year. Wonder what would happen to the industry if everyone without fail shopped around and took the lowest quote offered. Can't imagine the results would be pretty.
  10. Update as promised....and it's a Pass! Explained the handbrake issue to the tester this morning and no further problems. Haven't had a chance to look closely at the welding work yet but that'll have to wait because no lighting in my garage. . I will reward it with some fresh oil soon too, and then it's onwards towards 200k which at current run rate could be achieved towards the end of the year (if I keep it that long!)
  11. For the Metro? Yeah same as above just let me know where I'm sending it
  12. Sure, PM me an address & I'll get them in the post.
  13. Metro 1990 to 1998 HBOL - used but decent condition And a few old car mags - Practical Performance Car Nov and Dec 2007 issues, Retro Cars June 2006.
  14. I'm speaking to him in the morning, will check. Thanks! For now I think I've done all I can on it & to be fair it does all feel a bit less wobbly
  15. Doesn't look that way, mechanism seems fine up and down the ratchet and is secured to the plate which sits in the floor. With the trim all removed it's much easier to demonstrate - will I get away with leaving it exposed for the re-test?
