Mind and wear rubber/nitrile gloves if you do, and buy some well-used footwear from a charity shop to wear then burn/bin them after to cover your tracks.

A straight 6 has perfect mechanical balance meaning they're smoother than a 4.  They also have a smoother power delivery: on a 4, each powerstroke has finished before the next one begins, but on an even-fire 6 (as in, there is the same number of degrees of rotation between the power strokes of the cylinders - some V6 engines don't have this) the next powerstroke begins before the previous one has finished.

It seems that skipping back in time has saved Lada Parts UK!

If only this had happened to FSO too. But I am afraid that if this had happened we would skip back to Febuary 2011 when the last remnants of the FSO company dissipated into abyss.
Would it be worth loosing 2 and a half years of chod spotting to save a manufacturer?? Replies below please.

Anyway. This news is good news, and exactly what all that dusty stock sitting on shelves in Hampshire needed.

May I also add, I posted a almost exact copy of my ''PLEASE RESCUE LADA'' post onto the Lada Parts UK forum - and got a total of only 2 replies - all suggesting asking Steve Caz of FSO fame to save the business. The response in THIS parish was enough to make us all proud - I think we got to 2 pages of posts before it ran out of steam and we hit the timewarp.

So this is just a thank you for reading and caring - you guys really understand why we need little businesses like this to survive.

M'coli got a reaction from oman5 in I'm conducting a poll. Global warming, real or cobblers?
Real.  Global warming is occurring, unarguably.  The reduction in size of the polar ice caps, glaciers on high mountains and other such phenomena can't be faked.  We are in the midst of a natural interglacial period, and whether it'll be any worse than the last one I don't know.

Whether or not this global warming is enhanced due to our use of fossil fuels is up for debate, however!  I personally think that we'll spunk all the world's natural energy resources up the wall before we all die out/drown.  I'm a happy fucking sod, really.

The planet and the ecosystem will also survive.  I believe we're also on the verge of a natural mass extinction event, and we're just helping it along.  Why worry about this shit when we've still got enough nuclear weapons to end all multi-cellular life on the planet?

Someone in China is fairly determined to take server down.
A change of ip & a move from Cpanel to Webuzo software will stop that shit.

Its going to take 24 hours ish to ready server though.

When someone owns a car, why do they get the urge to dispose of the oem mats, handbook, wallet, etc. it's as if they just get in the car and launch the lot out of the window on the motorway, and then get ill fitting mats with blue/red trim that slide around the floor. And STOP CHOPPING UP THE STEREO WIRING LOOM!!!!! Argh

If you've got a good one it will make you a very happy man, if you've got a bad one then it'll make you very happy, briefly and then ruin your life. Be careful of poking the metal around the holes in the boot floor, you don't want to open them up too far.

On Thursday evening was sunny, so the sill came off!
Not looking too bad, this might be done by the end of the weekend…

Oh wait maybe not. After a little more digging this appeared:

Well that’s a shame, I better get cracking then.
During the spring when I was working on this there was a solitary bee who kept heading in and out of the chassis cross member, I haven’t seen it for a while so assume it’s moved out. It left a right mess of old pollen in there. Bloody squatter.

Friday I was out drinking and today it has been unexpectedly raining so I wasn’t able to muck about with the sill any further, but after changing the oil on the Demio I made some progress on the rear beam.

The smashed spring cup has been cut out and I spent some time cleaning up the metal around it then set to work making some new spring cups.
As luck would have it, I found the perfect replacement sat un-used in my garage…
Two empty disposable welding gas canisters. Yes I do still use these as I don’t quite have the space for a larger refillable gas bottle in the garage and to be honest, I don’t find these too bad, I seem to get a fair amount of welding from each little bottle.

With them cut down to size, they were welded to two metal discs to create a rough replica of the original ‘top hat’ design spring cup.

These seem to have gone very nicely so far, and a damn sight stronger than the original design. I think that when the rest of the car has dissolved completely, these spring cups will still be around.
The springs fit over them perfectly.

In a moment of laziness, I decided to not cut out the central part of the disc with the drill and tin snips and decided to turn the welder up to eleven and blast through the metal with that to cut the central hole. This went better than expected and with a bit of tidying up, I eventually had a fairly decent looking spring cup.

I have another free day tomorrow, which with a bit of luck won’t be quite so horrendous weather wise as I want to carry on with sorting the sill, but if not then I should be able to get this beam fixed and at least partially re-assembled by the end of the day.

as I said on the faceache forum, cobblers. If it was true then why the fook are huge diesel burning tankers/cargo ships and cruise liners still going back & forth across the oceans with no emission control and why are there more and more aircraft journeys taken year on year. The car had virtually fook all influence on it but the motorist is a very easy target.

How can this small islands contribution make one bit of difference when there are all those factories in the far east chucking out more crap in a day than we probably have in the last 100 years.
