Looks like you're going great guns at this. Liking to work so far, I'm also hoping the change of freight rover doors means you might pick up the old sliding ones from the Daf versions😆

If only they made an XJR with that body, those wheels, that colour, but the x350 interior.....think I'd sell a Kidney for it😆

Right, wont upload the whole lot. But if you fuel sender is of the same design, it could be the tracks has worn/coroded from sitting for a while. A little bit of use may help, or it might be the wires have been damaged in the resistor unit so it only reads at certain points.

When all the cars lined up properly, did they disappear into thin air?

Just catching up on this, some great progress!
As for the spare key front, it should just be a standard TX key for that era Ford. Most key cut places should still be able to do them👍

Would love one of these myself, but reckon I'd get too much hassle from SWMBO about it, she was annoyed enough at the "old man car" S-type!
With the key fob, have you tried to re-pair it to the car? Jag have some weird methods, I think in the S-type you had to turn the key from 0 to 2 in the ignition about 10 times whilst holding the brake, then press another button and it'd re-pair. In the X350s I have a funny feeling its something odd like holding a climate control button whilst flashing the headlights 10 times, or some other bizzare combo🤣 but it might do the trick!

Just caught up on this thread. Looks like a great little project! Got a 1986 2.0 laser myself.....well...it WAS a 2.0 laser, now running a 24v cosworth from a Granada Scorpio and had a full body resto completed in 2019, just in time for me to get it back for CoVid and all the shows shutting down😕 (gratuitus photo of said car below)
Can definitely recommend martin at CapriGear for parts, cheaper than CCI and faster delivery too (though that advice is probably a bit late now with a lot of the work done).
Got a feeling I need to do my diff plate soon, its one of the few 'just bolted on' 2nd hand parts we used in the conversion (its now the LSD from the injection special) and I have a feeling its also got a pinhole in it going by the little blob I saw on the floor the other day. A job for next year once I have a driveway again, car was up for sale, but thanks to the financial crisis prices dropped and nobody wants it😭
As for the strut tops, dont bother with the plates, it only makes a rust trap as they were added as a bit of an after thought. People ask why I don't have them with the 24v conversion, but with the alloy heads it weighs as much as the original pinto engine!

Whats so scary about the DSG? As long as you arent getting and ealy 7spd and keep up with oil changes on the box (like you should with any auto) then it shouldn't be an issue. Trouble free on friends and family's cars over the last 10years across multiple cars and miles.
