  1. Looks like you're going great guns at this. Liking to work so far, I'm also hoping the change of freight rover doors means you might pick up the old sliding ones from the Daf versions😆
  2. Depnds if you're keeping it or selling on. Resale nowadays, original is best, rather than the Capri alloys (wrong offset for escort by the looks of things?) and rear spoiler. But I can't really talk after dropping a 2.9 cossie engine in my Capri laser😅
  3. On the plus side, if you can't fix it, I believe they go for decent scrap money with the original cats on them.
  4. If only they made an XJR with that body, those wheels, that colour, but the x350 interior.....think I'd sell a Kidney for it😆
  5. Right, wont upload the whole lot. But if you fuel sender is of the same design, it could be the tracks has worn/coroded from sitting for a while. A little bit of use may help, or it might be the wires have been damaged in the resistor unit so it only reads at certain points.
  6. Not sure if you will be able to access this, but might also have something to do with the irratic readings if it uses the same method as the Capri tank senders https://www.capripower.co.uk/forum/index.php?threads/fuel-sender-fuel-gauge-operation-problems.43695/
  7. Slight derailment on the thread, but the same has happened to my caddy van, though the cooler is hanging on for dear life by 1 bolt and the one where it has detached, its down to the bracket on the cooler side failing, any ideas for a fix without a welder?😬
  8. Clutch replacement might be easier than you think, depends on the output shaft on the gearbox, whether it is a rubber doughnut or one of those sleeved joints where the prop can just be pulled out. If its the latter, I believe there is enough play to just loosen the mounts, pull the gearbox back and swap out the clutches with the box in place. I know thats how the garage did one on my Capri, took them all of 20mins 😅
  9. Don't worry I get that, given most companies say they were making a 5-15% loss last year, a 25-40% increase depending on risk of vehicle/area would make sense. But not a blanket 300% on anything😕
  10. Not sure what is happening where I am, but had a look at insuring the A8 in the for sale section as I was very tempted, comparison quotes coming out at £1,200! Bearing in mind I've been paying £200-350 for the last 4 or 5 years on cars. Thought maybe the comparison sites were just anti-audi, so checked my current car and they wanted £900! Currently insured for £320 with 2 or 3 months left. No changes in my circumstances at all, address still the same, any ideas why insurance would triple for no reason???
  11. Hold off on this decision till the summer, and first refusal please! 😅
  12. Must have been facelift only, as im pretty sure the 1982 Sierra we had was TX key, but you may be right about the 1985 Sierra we had, got a feeling that was the newer type. Then again, facelift was 87........I know one had the square lights with the slatted grill, and the later one had the solid front with the wider lights.
  13. Just catching up on this, some great progress! As for the spare key front, it should just be a standard TX key for that era Ford. Most key cut places should still be able to do them👍
  14. Would love one of these myself, but reckon I'd get too much hassle from SWMBO about it, she was annoyed enough at the "old man car" S-type! With the key fob, have you tried to re-pair it to the car? Jag have some weird methods, I think in the S-type you had to turn the key from 0 to 2 in the ignition about 10 times whilst holding the brake, then press another button and it'd re-pair. In the X350s I have a funny feeling its something odd like holding a climate control button whilst flashing the headlights 10 times, or some other bizzare combo🤣 but it might do the trick!
  15. Not entirely sure if he is selling cars or taxidermy services... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225980856298?hash=item349d8237ea:g:S8oAAOSwZfVluI5t&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4PmY62gauXoCyHqyWUIOV55HGMo0l%2FrhAuVb2If55z9RPxp6IloeivqKI1YBd66%2Fk36qY53z4xR3128XLINmevWcLnq8tXgk3Dm%2BE0Ie6TRpVL7F0haGLQWK898BdmF9HoEp81LpLAWRlF5VNvcn1ANqjKHNrNkdZPy4Y9N%2FNBKt9GbQrUQAnJYI%2FYN%2FzdtyWCNAgCBP5oWCJ4s8SOEnrhZOAmlTLF13djxmFddDqXFUGjN183TfUjpdxCYwdFTocnCwF0gmGDPkrTAvJp%2BNBsUCdMkMWNWP6Ws2%2FM1TG9TG|tkp%3ABk9SR_ifmumsYw
  16. Sure thats not an ST24 rather than a V6 Ghia??? Also, whereabouts, if its local to you then its local to me😉

    Volvo 940 wagon

Saw the thread title, then saw the usename. For a split second wondered if I have early onset dimentia and had bought a car and forgotten.....would explain the empty bank account🤣
  18. Looks like it also has the optional bodykit fitted? Those wheels were optional too.
  19. Let me guess, advertised as "runs great, no issues" then 5 lines later "needs accident repair"🙈
  20. Whats so scary about the DSG? As long as you arent getting and ealy 7spd and keep up with oil changes on the box (like you should with any auto) then it shouldn't be an issue. Trouble free on friends and family's cars over the last 10years across multiple cars and miles.
  21. @dcd1979 Hows the Fabia doing? Time for a 3 month update!
  22. ooo I know what it is! But I shall keep quiet😇
  23. Thats great news! Given the listing on Briskoda I was a little concerned it could end up being a bag of worms. thankfully it did what early 00's skodas do and just work.
  24. Great news!! So glad someone here saved it from mr scrap man😇. Just spotted you're only about 20 miles from me too, so may even get the chance to see it on the road when its working😉
  25. Has been posted over on the Skoda forum for a while now, but needs to be gone by the end of this week, seems a shame to just scrap it when it could be a decent project to get running again. Though it may be of interest to a few on here. Details in the link below. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/514902-skoda-fabia-mk1-14-petrol-2000-x-plate-sorn-off/?_fromLogout=1
