  1. Very weird mileage history on that, wonder what went on there (apart from the supposed new clocks) Went from 314k, to 1k, 3k, 4k, 6k, 10k, 328k, unreadable, 15k, unreadable again ๐Ÿค” Also - HFM!? I know they're rare but its just a bog standard MK1 Mondeo with 328k or whatever miles that has somehow managed to survive. Be surprised if it actually sells for more than a grand, even that's got to be pushing it! Be impressed if its not an oil burner at that mileage!
  2. This actually happened to me when I had my 45 a few years back as well! A gent with a 75 parked next to me and was eyeing up my 45 and looking around it just as I was walking back to it, at first he seemed startled and apologized for being nosy but assured him not to worry then we had a quick chat about general Rover enthusiasm. It was nice and as you say being such a relatively modern car not something you really expect - only something with Rovers! Never seen him or his 75 about since sadly, guessing he wasn't local. Should have exchanged contact details in hindsight!
  3. Well yep that is definitely true about if it wasn't the way it is! ๐Ÿ˜…
  4. Well worth persisting with it up to a point, better the devil you know etc
  5. Oh dear, that'll be due to location.. although ยฃ293 doesn't sound horrifically low for a little Fabia. A Focus will weigh in for about ยฃ350 at the moment as a general idea
  6. Drop link, lower ball joint, ARB D bushes, top mount, etc etc ....!
  7. I'd get all four balanced, although if you're soon swapping the wheels around again then obviously balance them then otherwise it'll be a waste of time! Failing that could be driveshafts out of balance TLDR; just another can of worms and parts cannon waiting to be loaded ๐Ÿ˜‚
  8. Well that's an improvement then! Could be tyre balance, is the wobble felt through the steering or the cabin/seats? Or both?
  9. 230 miles per 1/2 tank is better than the 160 you were getting! Any incidence of the cutting out and other issues you were having?
  10. I love how Huggy's bonnet is pretty much the same length as the entire Micra lol
  11. "what do you mean the engine is fucked, its just passed its MOT" ๐Ÿค“
  12. If you're not bonding with it then make it as nice as it needs to be to sell it for a decent (but realistic) price that won't completely break you, that's my advice
  13. These monitors better be worth it with all this price extortion ๐Ÿคจ Six quid for a poxy meal deal!? I'd just starve myself out of principle ๐Ÿ˜‚
  14. Three pounds and nineteen pence for 6 cans of gutrot!? (Diet pepsi) - used to get a pack of 24 for ยฃ5 (yes I'm a tightwad!) ๐Ÿ˜‚ ยฃ5 for a tiny pork pie in a snack van brought me to my breaking point the other day ๐Ÿ˜‚
  15. I suppose it'll do the job and will save me from pumping tyres up with a conventional pump, but it just means I'll have to wait 10 minutes between each tyre if any need a significant topup The scale on it is ridiculous, it goes up from 0-150psi I think and there's barely any middle ground from 20-40๐Ÿคฆ so you have to use a separate guage. There's no way it would cope above 40 psi either Instead of buying all the cheap ones I probably should have just bought one decent one, but there's no guarantee that one of those is going to be any good
  16. Bosch are a perceived luxury for some reason, they're no less shit than the rest.. Apart from the older ones that were actually made to last, also like the rest
  17. Less maintenance.. a lot of folk seem adverse to using lawnmowers these days as they don't seem to like real grass! So they lay down plastic turf or just tarmac it over I agree - it looks shit
  18. Fuckin' hell, an MGF bid upto ยฃ7000, reserve not met ๐Ÿ˜ณ https://www.carandclassic.com/auctions/1998-mgf-mk1-roadster-8EwyWn Namely the one that salvage rebuilds uk just had.... They paid ยฃ2000, it went for ยฃ4900... So maybe for each person that buys it you make a few grand... where will it end!
  19. Somebody hasn't been looking in the for sale section it seems (Assuming a scruffy N/A diesel isn't an issue!)
  20. Paid a little bit of attention to Focus #1 today, it's been sat there for nearly a year now apart from its MOT at the start of this year. Annoyingly the front washers have started playing up again, I'm not sure if it's the motor or blocked pipes but I'll get it all apart at some point and see what's what. I was going to put a new motor on it a while back but then it sorted itself out, which makes me think it's a blockage somewhere more than anything. The left hand rear indicator has gone phut for good now, just before it came off the road it was playing up and only working as it pleased but it's totally dead now. Swapped the holder over from the other side and it started working fine so at least the wiring is ok. Discovered the holder is naffed as I was measuring approx 600 ohms resistance on the live pin. Cant see any corrosion but if I fiddle about with the terminals it started fluctuating to 30-100 ohms. New one ordered, ยฃ30, ouch! Noticed the spark plug wells were full of water, so I better seal up the washer jets before that causes too much bother. The HT leads seem stuck on the plugs, so I'm not expecting it to look pretty under there. I'll have a new set of plugs and coil + leads on hand before taking it apart any further! Still got to service it and do the stat, but don't see much point in doing that while I'm not actually using the car... Hadn't touched it for 8 weeks and it fired up straight away, so at least the battery is decent
  21. So on a bit of a whim decided to wash and polish the Picasso today. Very pleased with how it came up. Annoyingly the horizontal dent along the door is perfectly in line with the crash reinforcement bar on the inside so I can't get behind it to push it out. With the door card removed, access was perfect to most of the outer door skin apart from that area which was sods law So will need to think of another plan to pull that dent out. It's a bit too deep to just slap filler over it really. I don't really want to get another door as the colour match will be off since the car has been painted on that side before, (I believe, due to the heavy orange peel) Anyhow, my mains powered machine polisher went phut so I decided to use a vintage 12v one I got from the car boot sale and a bottle of Halfords finest* polish. It was ok, and did a decent initial job but it's going to need another going over with a mains powered polisher and some decent polish when I get some Here's a before and after pic. You can see the tiny surface scratches and bush rash that have been removed, but it didn't touch any of the paint transfer. Before: After: It doesn't change the fact this car needs extensive paintwork repairs to make it mint, but at least I now know what I'm up against. Unfortunately by the time I was done I couldn't get a decent picture of the whole car that would give it justice, but take my word that apart from the deep scratches it has come up really well as I thought it would
  22. Hmm, is it driving or riding though, only 3 wheels ๐Ÿ˜„
  23. Give one to stepdaughter for her first car? LBF seems content enough with an invacar for his first car! ๐Ÿ˜‚
