Today is actually spring and warm, so can now open up the garage for the first time since October.
The first job was to add a diesel additive and then change the fuel tank cap as the old one was leaking.
The only new one I found was this which a Mercedes specialist said would fit and it did.
A fuel filler cap off a w201/w124/w126/r129 or r109 might be more original looking, assuming your original one was metal.

One thing to consider with the 16 valve 190's is the 2.3-16 engine has a single timing chain whereas the 2.5-16 engine has a duplex. Timing chain guides are difficult to come by or so i read on a merc forum a while back.

Mercedes C43 AMG project. About as cheap as it gets for a 300bhp 4.3 litre AMG V8. Doesn't even look that rusty but there must be a reason why the rear subframe/ suspension is currently off the car. £1500 BIN.

A great way of losing your money if the real owner turns up. Remember, a V5c is NOT proof of ownership.
Street view of the sellers postcode is pretty interesting.

Odd spec hearing aid beige 190d 2.0 auto. Keep fit windows all round, steels &trims 😍, a manual sunroof & black mirrors but then someone decided to splash out on some headlamp wipers, rear headrests and an outside temp display. Seems a bit steep at £2200 BIN without MOT. NIce bit of black tape over the abs warning light as well.

DVLA was processing my application for lower VAD for running "renewable fuel" when the cam belt broke and destroyed the veg Renault ability to move.
You can apply for lower road tax if you are using veg oil as a fuel?

I just avoided foot in mouth moment: I have some interest in high end Blaupunct for 1980s cars having blindly purchased a RCM 40 Toronto to fill a hole in the dash of my high end uber wagen. never seen Berlin in my occasional searches for another Toronto, or mention of it. I guess that means a Berlin is hens teeth and King's ransom territory. I was going to jump in with it's a graphic equaliser which I sometimes contemplate adding.
Not sure where the Blaupunkt Berlin with the dual controls is on the pecking order but probably up there. Sort of thing you would see fitted in Koenig tuner Merc & Porsche interiors bitd in Germany.

To my untrained eye thats a shame its had a cat B on it. Some swift kicks would get the worst out by the looks of things.
Yeah it looks like a v nice example on the face of it. Maybe the tap up the arse has done something to the rear subframe/arb mounts. Lots of potential w201 rot spots back there.

Mercedes 190e for spares that has had a bump up the backside. Interior is in perfect brown MB Tex and the doorcards look unblown. If only this car was nearer etc. May suit one of the many w201 owners on here who live anywhere near Ascot Berkshire. £550 BIN.

Condensation on the inside of the bootlid on Mercedes 190's. Not sure why 190's suffer from this or why Mercedes decided to leave the inside of the bootlid black and not body colour.

Its certainly put me off buying a 190 which is for sale locally to me.
What you want is a diesel 190 then. Fully mechanical injection with no ecu's to stop them. They even carry on running if you remove the battery.

Someone installed the wrong springs in the front...
Wrong springs and someone has put low profile 50 section tyres on those 15 inch 8 holes. Should be on 65 profile tyres.

OM606
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276193208950. This seller always has interesting stuff, but often changes his eBay id. Why would you do that?
I think that is a OM 603 engine. The generation just prior to the OM 606.

Quite a few threads on
about 190e's cutting out. Might be worth a read if you have not already. You can use the search function without logging in.

Lovely 190. Did a VIN check and your car was originally spec'd with a sportline AMG performance steering wheel, option 281. No mention of sportline suspension but you do have a larger capacity fuel tank.

@martc posted this in the Lads and Lassies thread. Must be the late 1970s by the rego on the panda. It shows the slip road onto the coast road from the junction at the top of Howdon. Note the A1 is still going through the Tyne Tunnel, so it's pre the Western By-Pass. Also those blocks have flats are now long gone, replaced by houses in the early 1990s. I live about half a mile from there.
NE film trivia. Terry from the Likely Lads feature film had a flat there. Bob's red Chevette HTM 10N got its wheels nicked in the flats car park. 😛

Is that a scam? Seems too cheap, and it's also in Birkenhead.
MOT history for this 924s is sub optimal. Disappeared off the face of the earth for 11 years it seems.
