Once again I have snuffled the best car for myself, in my defence this time it is not from an Autoshite member, but a friend of Mrs6C.
For about a year a friend has been talking about selling his 1973 Saab 95 last on the road over 20 years ago. He said he had a massive amount of spares and the car and spares all had to go in one package. We were hoping the barn would be roofed this summer and the plan was to view the car and if it was saveable then we would have somewhere to put it.
Last week we happened to visit the seller for another reason and got to see the Saab unprepared for sale and wedged in the garage so I could not get close. I was prepared for the 95 to be so rough that I would politely decline to buy it, but I was amassed at what I saw. Paint is a bit flat but the usual rust areas of the windscreen surround, front wing and under the rear wing had been repaired many years ago and are holding up well. Somehow it just looked a wonderful car to me and a deal was done then and there.
The deal included not having to collect the car or spares until the spring so I am hoping next year I can drum up a posse to collect this car and round up the spares from Milton Keynes.

I'm not convinced their website accurately reflects what they've got. Every time I've dropped in they've had extra stuff in the yard. Might be worth popping in, if you're passing.

Fine.  Calm down.  Keep your knickers on!
Night time racing is very different to daytime.  The sights, sounds and smells are all subtly different, and the racetrack has a different "feel" to it.  Everyone has a sense of purpose and is ready for the long haul ahead.  There had been some evening (dark) practice on Friday night, but saturday was special:

And beginning to be able to see the LED lighting on some of the cars.  Some was quite inventive!


As it got darker, I decided now was the time to start playing with some long exposure times.  I've never done this before, so it was completely experimentation:









Now was clearly the time to go walking about to find a different vantage spot.  Just near the bridge at snet there is another viewing area, and you can see a fair bit of track:











As the night wore on, mist covered the back straight.  It was a bit strange:


After that I went and got some kip for a few hours.  Something I'm about to do now too.

Does it all depend on how decent looking they are? 

Part of the problem is modern headlights that auto-dip. They can be slow to dip and quick to go back to full but the worse problem is when people forget they're not in the car with auto-dip and go everywhere on full beam.
It just adds to the usual amount of delightful people who use full beam (and/or front fog lights) inconsiderately.
