  1. Evinrude will sell easily, looks pretty tidy. Is that broom propping the car up? πŸ˜‰ Edit: Evinrude looks almost mint!
  2. I always thought the successor to the Zephyr Zodiac and Executive, the Consul Granada still had some American styling cues with the long rear lights and body contoured chrome bumpers.
  3. I used a Meyle kit for my gearbox oil change, came with bolts, gasket, sump plugs, oil and filter plus the electrical connector and seals. MB stuff is available for not much more l have since found.
  4. Found this in a damp corner today, came out of that car. When bought in 2007 the then owner boasted how fantastic and reliable it was and he would jump in it now and drive to Scotland, it wouldn't miss a beat. Took two days to drive home from Essex to Heathrow as it would run for 7 miles then stop, not fun on the M25. We made it to South Mimms and came back the next day armed with plugs and points etc., then dived into it. I found a lot of very fine rust in the carburettor, the fuel pump has a glass bowl and looked okay but there was an additional inline filter that also looked clean. Then I noticed it was round the wrong way, took it off and it was packed solid with fine rust from the tank. New filter fitted and we sailed home. With the carb top off there is a loose check ball for the accelerator pump, seems someone had dropped said ball down the inlet and caused all that damage to the piston compressing the ring lands so the rings were stuck hence the engine rebuild. There are still a matching set of light dings in one cylinder head Vulcan Engineering could not remove with a light skim!
  5. Not much to report. Tyres rotated a couple of weeks back to get the last out of them, new set will be going on the other car eventually and the damaged rim sent off for refurb. I have enough good 16" to run about on if needed. Mileage coming up to 190k, definitely should be taking the engine cover off and looking into the injector seals as there's that smell of cooking diesel again. Arrived at work last Thursday with a rattling exhaust, the connector bar on the twin pipes behind the axle had come off one side due to corrosion and our wonderful Surrey leafy lanes. Did a temporary repair until I can fabricate a repair link bracket and fit two new centre mounts. Yeah, I know. They are good quality second-hand hose cips though. The previous owner of V2.0 sent me a few goodies in the week he found clearing out, a Mercedes dealer jacket, Brienz Blue touch-up paint and lacquer, a bag containing two keyrings, Star logo highwayman mask and a miniature Mercedes replica key. My first thought was a keyringtorch but none of the buttons work and no fancy LED in the end replicating the infrared. Missus suggested fridge magnet, wouldn't stick to the radiator though then sge said USB stick? Bingo. The cap is such a good fit you can't see the join, 4Gb too, no porn or bitcoin unfortunately.
  6. Currenty almost twice what the car sold for on Ebay in 2007.
  7. @LightBulbFun there might be a spare 180mph Smiths speedo knocking about at work you could fit for fun, period correct and of similar heritage! 😁 I would like to see you in it at Brooklands this year at one of the events. πŸ‘
  8. The Weber carb number may not be down to jet sizes, the idle and progression drillings on the carburettor body may be different for the application to remove flat spots.
  9. The Sweeney would have had used Daf 33 for more stability and greater speed in the J-turn, the 33 van would have been used in some episodes for blagger surveillance. Later episodes would be 44 or Volvo versions for greater prestige and increased sales.
  10. Our neighbour had an Austin 1100 with hand controls for throttle and brake, he had a tin right leg. When he died we had the car for parts and scrapped it, low mileage with immaculate red interior but absolutely rotten and I remember the throttle hand control smacking my knuckles when I drove it. The 1100 and Mini were available with automatic gearboxes.
  11. That would have been my choice. I think it was Β£2600 or so when bought in 2007, did I send you the Ebay advert screenshots?
  12. There's a solution, usually comes down to financial viability. I see some eye-watering prices for parts and engineering services on older vehicles, some justifiable due to the cost of producing small batchess and other just plain greed.
  13. Hard to tell from the photo but they look like Nylon or Delrin. Maybe some Teflon coated bushed could be fitted as an upgrade to match the Spax dampers Des has.......😊
  14. The king pin would be case hardened or induction heat treated so the core stays flexible, not something you want hard all the way through. I would try and find something the correct o/d and alter to fit if possible as others would have done previously. What are the "dust caps" made of and why the radius, any schematics available?
  15. Are you an AA member or RAC? πŸ˜„ Welcome to the jungle. I hope the BMW is a 635CSi or a 3.0 CSL. 😊
  16. That's a shame after all your effort, gutted for you. I did a fair few miles in it, tried a Post Office raid get-away a few times and would have been caught by an Austin 1100 Panda car in between gear changes. A 3500S Rover Squad car would have needed a sawnoff waved at it to make any ground! 🀣 Joking aside, he had some fun in it and I remember 5 of us piling out at the Ace Cafe and 4 drunks going home seasick. Did you fit the Zenith carb? I wonder if the Vulcan unleaded heads are still on it? They came back gas flowed!!
  17. By coincidence, on Monday I was looking at some of the condition videos of the car I sent @Mr_Bo11ox before he bought the it. Looks to have had a fair bit of bodywork done, shame the front valence has been left scabby.
