You bugger! Is that the heater matrix from overseas? I had my eye on that for my Maestro Parts Hoarding Corner. Even though mine seems fine and has been thoroughly flushed out.

Funny how you don't miss a heater until its not there. Although October is positively balmy at the moment.

I've had some success fixing* broken trim bits with a glue gun, in case your duct tape idea doesn't work.

Never thought about a glue gun!

Might worth getting one to burn myself repeatedly with 😆.

Oh noooo, that heater matrix was from a supplier in the UK.

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303993815231?hash=item46c77180bf:g:YHkAAOSwamZe64kI&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8Fhs1VzCaiuocrbdHdy4Cp9d6KBfbMUi3UL7c34AVqeOZyq%2Fa6qGBgR8swwQnBbfZymmhfrdjqcPULF%2FZUdzR%2FT%2BXL4jROLPq778NS9NMJA9%2FZEwxfl2KfK6ZIscsaIwUnvFpjny16n9PyuVMqjGVzXZ%2BoBT3bDhT5%2BMAc7hy5lyy36Z0DJ35TafOq2k5957d0cD45EyvRpXwInYGz9f9jU%2FRGrOOV3GlDYtUvUbVwKYtKSgMd5dHPVRR05Nt%2FTgX6hMTzudP5iev3umN5eAaFZNEmZtf5NB%2F4xNbh0CHpkhgSFZQAYsOF2DtSFd9P85cw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_6Kk-XgYg

Admittedly it was expensive. However both of mine were ruined. It can be recored in the future as well. Fits perfectly in the blower box.

I wanted to get some heat back in because as you said, it's actually been very mild weather wise. The thing mists up like nowt else.

  2. It did look good on the Amarok steels. But with a taller tyre would be better.

I think you were on the right track with the bronze. But wonder if they were done in a flat or satin finish.

LIke what Work Emotion did with their wheels.

    t7r-2p-18x9.5-et12-ahg-1.thumb.jpg.a97539d2d03afd8615fc09c40c365548.jpg

Brings out the wheel more in my opinion. Goes with the flat green too

Regardless, I like the Transporter anyway. Hopefully it serves you well.

  3. More dicking about with the Maestro.

Knew the heater had been bypassed. But not sure why.

    DSC_0243.thumb.JPG.c8438577ccb59c2f5bfb48b5d2fca799.JPG

Fuck me! That's probably a good reason!

    DSC_0244.thumb.JPG.f66225b0bd1057637ccd68db9d2a7274.JPG

Nah. Not even gonna bother with that. Was given another heater matrix. Yeah, that was fucked too. These are NLA, until I saw one on the Bay o' E.

    DSC_0240.thumb.JPG.78ae32303fe87118fc42617901d94f32.JPG

Not cheap, but looks good quality. Fits perfectly and comes with the rectangular seal for the matrix hard lines.

The metal pipes are sat in a bath of that rust eating acid, then I'll repair those and reuse.

Access on the one piece dashes isn't bad if you remove the glovebox. However go carefully as shit will break. Like what someone had done in the past. I'll have to get creative with some duct tape!

Want to sort this out too.

The amount of different sized screws that were used by one of the previous owners is laughable!

I'd nearly put money on these fuckers being picked from the Danish cookie tin filled to the tits with random screws!

Well that escalated quick. I'm now the owner of an engine, box and diff, subject to going down to get it. Currently still in the car as he's using it, but converting it to mx5 power. Not going to let on what I've paid but its a good deal.

Not counting chickens mind, its a done thing when cash changes hands and its in the back of the van. I'll keep you all updated.

Excellent! I understand your reasoning too.

As you'll want it away tae fuck before they change their mind! 😆

Really do like the A40. Such cool looking cars!

Are you using it on the road yet? Be interesting to see if you gel with it, what with it being quite different to your usual stuff.

Aye, had a few runs out now. Took my Dad out in it, instantly called it a tank! 😆

Won't deny it's definitely different to the Altezza. Despite the Toyota actually being older! That car is light-years ahead on every front. Hell the old Nexia felt more modern to drive!!

Funny thing is, I do like it. The A-Series goes well, sits at 60 no problems. Surprisingly roomy and comfortable too.

Used to chokes, carbs and dizzys from owning 1.0 Novas, MK2 Polos and the such. I just had to remind myself it needs a little warm up time first. Oh and don't dead steer! 😆

  6. Some work was done to Boaby the Dobber Maestro today.

    DSC_0224.thumb.JPG.4b945489759495de7a9c087c1a1f234f.JPG

This impressive bit of plumbing greeted me. Yes, that is carpet being used to protect it. That had to go. The rubber hose on the rad side was a replacement hose for a Massy tractor!

The last owner had thankfully threw in the old pipe.

    DSC_0226.thumb.JPG.fef885d5bd87d0aa52dcd127f0e48bda.JPG

Rotten tae fuck that. Nae guid.

    DSC_0225.thumb.JPG.25f29cbe2278ca3529fc3132aa0d3182.JPG

Good enough template though. Pipe bought off eBay. Time to fab something up.

    DSC_0229.thumb.JPG.c3a813203d5fb909a976989b07088a7c.JPG

Just like that! I fully welded up and painted it with some buzzweld WAR. Looks the part.

    DSC_0234.thumb.JPG.644b7579ada726810920935de0249dbe.JPG

Refitted it and made a rad hose to connect that hard pipe to the rad. This time using hose from an old Vauxhall coolant hose I had lying about and a joiner from the lashed up pipe.

    DSC_0235.thumb.JPG.35b297e3c7f52030ff6d4b4e73e9100b.JPG

Well happy with that! One very tiny pin hole to sort, but that an easy fix. Just wanted it to look neater and close to factory again.

Tomorrow will be spent getting the heater matrix sorted. Old one had been bypassed. Was given another one, so I'll see if that's fit for use.

    Cool video

Got to say though a lot of mainstream manufacturers put some dodgy stuff out build quality wise to customers in that period & they'd all bang on about quality too.
Wasn't there a tale of a Princess with differing trim levels on each side ? No doubt Vauxhall & Ford were as bad.

That's true. Hiccups were about to happen in those many processes of building a car.

Was it not an GM X-Car sent down the line with both the 5 door and 3 door pressings? Beating the Hyundai Veloster by a number of years 😆.

Then the brand new car goes into a dirty workshop for a man with a drill to fit an aerial.

No pilot hole or any protection to the paint 😆. Straight in, no kissing hahaha.

Been fascinated with watching shit factory videos. Another good one from the same person.

Then a report by Top Gear about the Polish car industry and car ownership as a whole.

  8. That car reminds me of this video I saw on YouTube.

Had a small chuckle at (4.48 on the video) how they shown a 125p in the background with a moulding missing off the rear door. Like wow, banging on about inspections and just booted a car out like that. Plus they stored cars anywhere and everywhere, even in the factory there was areas was rammed with cars.

Anyway. Would be nice to see that one saved or used to save others. But as others had said before, it'll likely see the oval.

  9. These are not going to be fun to fix.

Did get a pair of wings thrown in. So I've got metal to play with.

"I'll just open the boot and see what I've got. Ah! Shit, that's not ideal"

    DSC_0171.thumb.JPG.d0c5f8f82c67f9f0ade78f91ccf910d0.JPG

Got plastic bumper ones and they are almost too good to chop up.

    Fuck it!

I'll not poke the bear for the moment. I'll look into it next year, inners will definitely need done too. That doesn't worry me. As long it's metal back in there, nae one will ken how I made them once the sealer and gravitex is over it.

Those shite mudflaps are getting thrown tae fuck in aw! Rust causing bastards!

  10. Little more on the Maestro.

Went about the site. It's a nippy little bugger. Fires up near instantly and runs sweet.

It's way better than I thought. Went in with low expectations, because of what it is. But pleasantly surprised, it's not that terrible at all.

Think it's the law to take photos of a new purchase?

    DSC_0164.thumb.JPG.53ce01388c3fd503defd6a67896376eb.JPG

That has to be the most amount of room I've seen in an engine bay!

    DSC_0165.thumb.JPG.592b50bd9fddb69d20105df6d7b5c138.JPG

The not so gooder parts. Yeah, it's been subjected to some interesting repairs. That means I'll have something to update this thread with as I pick through it.

Ahhh... Also have a "slight" issue with the arches. I'll do a separate post for that.

  11. Things happened.

Tried to sell Corsa. Fitted Bilstein coilovers and refit 15's instead. Decided (again) finish it now, need to pull finger out.

    DSC_0152.thumb.JPG.34d355eeb7bf0efd758bed070b2a4edf.JPG

Tried to sell Nova. No bites... Yet.

    Then Maestro arrived.

    received_1016562319535500.thumb.jpeg.5fafdc1c18c65102183b6cec494e1387.jpeg

I suck at getting rid of stuff. May part out the Nova and sell the rolling shell a bit cheaper to move it on. I'm just not going to get round to doing it. Maestro can be the fun/annoying retro, as it is on the road!

Toyota has been with me long enough to need another MOT. Ahhh, bollocks that on the 3rd!

    @JMotor you're truly one of life's winners.

There's two types of people in this world, Maestro owners and wannabe Maestro owners.

    May your indicators remain functional.

I feel as if joined a very exclusive club. That no sane person wants a part of. Which I like.

Good god no. I meant the maestro. The state of my finances, I can barely dream of a maestro. A novas far too rich for my blood 😆

Hahah, no worries. I shall get more deets and photaes this coming week. A-Series is a sweetie too.
