Really? The last one of those I saw was in a scrapyard probably 15 years ago.
    Real taxman's special, that one.

    Fine!
    It has been done!
Say hello to the latest member of my little fleet.

And safely to the hotel for our overnight stopover.

Guessing most of you had figured this out by now!

For ultimate 'doom' spec it'd need to be fitted with the 1.5 litre B-series diesel and an automatic gearbox.

Sometimes we need a tinkering buddy to spur us on. My long term project in the garage (only the 5.5 years to date) is near completion and when i was losing my rag the other day with it my best mate threatened to punch my head in if I didn't stop fannying about and get it sorted.
    Positive motivation i called it.

The Charade and Matiz are surprisingly different to drive though. The Charade is quite a lot better as 'an car' and far better suited to a novice driver. I think I decided yesterday to try a new inlet manifold gasket on the Charade, and perhaps tackle the valve stem seals in a bid to stop the hideous smoke.
Also, the Matiz is very special to me. Not sure I'd be comfortable letting a novice drive it.
VIDEO SPOILERS. Has been a good week for the fleet though. First, my new helper took TWC the Invcar's throttle cable with him last time, and properly soldered on the cable end for more security. That was refitted and TWC went for a yard drive for the first time in many weeks. I didn't take any photos of that, but here she is afterwards.

Then it was on to the Oltcit. Mark had also taken away the master cylinder last time, and managed to discover that LNA brake master cylinder seals fit the Oltcit - albeit with a little difficulty getting them on.

The picture above is Mark preparing to bleed the brakes. We pumped a LOT of air and crap fluid out of the system, and to my disbelief, the brakes now work perfectly! It has a very hard pedal (non-servo discs) but stops well. I'm sure that'll improve as the braking surfaces bed in again. The rear discs are still like new (30k miles) so it's good that the damp hasn't got to it. Very solid underneath too, which is good. I paid over £1000 for this car, which is most unlike me. I'd estimate that once road legal, it'll be worth £3000-4000.
Had a drive of that too, after unsticking the carburettor again. Next thing will be steering as it's stiff and clonky - Mark noticed the driver's side wheel wobbling about even as I drove gently into the unit.

She's already annoyed that I've spent all year so far trying to get the RAV4 back on the road, when I should be on the Lada, and if I suggest electrifying anything I genuinely think she'd kick me out on safety grounds!

Tough call on some of those - especially the Fox, of which I avidly followed the revival of when you got it.
Selling the Sana for spares might be the best option: there's a LOT of electrical work needed on that car, it appears to have been butchered in so many other ways too.
You'll have enough 'oddness' to play with in the shape of the Oltcit and the remainder of the fleet whilst giving yourself some finances and perhaps room in the unit for storage pending a future house move?

Decisions have been made. C5 has been sold, in a manner that should facilitate the collection of its replacement, which will be announced once it happens.
GSA is going to have to go as well, though not urgently. I probably need to sort out those deep scratches and at least try to tidy up the interior a bit. Truth is I just don't enjoy driving it as much as other Citroens and would rather focus on reviving the Oltcit. (hoping for brake progress next week).
Also considering selling the Fox. It's not family friendly, isn't terribly comfortable and I don't really like working on it, which I suspect is why I've not got around to putting a fresh MOT on it since it lapsed at Christmas. I don't have the luxury of just being able to keep every car I like or have saved, so decisions need to be made. I need more room at the unit, and need to feel like I'm actually keeping up with the work key members of the fleet need.
I still thing selling the Sana is going to be a wise move too, though whether it actually can be sold remains to be seen.

We have threads for things such as:

    -          Shite pictures
News 24 Thread (I'd advise against starting at the beginning of this one!)
    Shite in Minature:
We also have a few words and phrases which really only make sense here.  Head over to the AutoShite lexicon for help there

There are topics such as the news thread, the grin thread and the grumpy thread which are a quick reference for news. Sales go in the for sale section, and questions in the Ask a shiter section.
If you’re wondering a question has been asked before, or if there’s already a thread about X use the search function on the top right.  You can also tag your posts (event, project, Talbot Tagora etc) to make them easier to find.
There is a menu on the top right, and from here you can access your account.  Here you can edit your own profile including your rank (which is automatically preset), your profile picture and your signature.
If you click on the title of the thread it’ll take you to the first post in that section.  If you’re new, and you click on something like the news thread this could take you back many years!  Clicking on the dot or star next to the title will take you to the next unread post.

If you're not sure, the best thing to do is ask! Most of us are a friendly bunch and will help point you in the right direction.

    Pretty sure!
Other than in London itself I don't think I've ever driven anywhere that has a greater concentration of impatient, aggressive and selectively blind drivers as Milton Keynes.  With the possible exception of Chicago in rush hour...Miami wasn't far off either.

It has been confirmed that there is a good home available locally for the Xantia...so I'm going to properly kick the ball rolling to see how the logistics of getting the car which will be taking its place will unfold.
She's a good car and with a bit of time spent will be an excellent one.  Just got to that classic mid 90s car stage where there are quite a lot of little jobs that need doing and I'm really struggling to find the enthusiasm, especially using the car more or less daily.  Having twice had issues recently with dead NOS parts left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth too I guess.  Plus with the best will in the world to the designers, the Xantia is a fiddly car to work on...ten times better than the XM, but it's still annoying when you're trying to use it daily.
Taking a step backwards a few years for the next car.  I'm just far more comfortable with 80s cars where maintenance is concerned.  Plus it's allowing me to tick one of the big items off my list that I've always wanted to have a proper shot of.  Plus ticks a few additional practicality boxes which is a bonus.

@Zelandeth I am signed up for EMIS patient access. I can have ; book appointments, order repeat prescriptions (I get a text when its ready, then go and get it from my designated pharmacy. There are alternative actions, such as  repeats by the pharmacy), see my medical record, get medical advice and other things through it. Easy to register, and most GP practises are members.

I believe the thoughts these days are not to bind up someone who has broken ribs, but to let them heal naturally. I knew of someone who broke 3 ribs after a fell (!) walking fall. They would not bandage him, but he found a mans corset, lightly fitted, relieved it for some weeks until healed.

The GWR paper is one of the better explanations I have read on the subject - I've not seen that before so thanks for that.
By "BR Black Book" I assume you mean the Handbook For Railway Steam Locomotive Enginemen. If that is the case then you are correct - a copy has been sitting on the shelf, unread, for many years and it turns out that there are some very nice colour drawings of injectors and a decent description of how they work including the function of the sliding thibble or jumper nozzles.
