  1. On the upside, it looks like the roof is very strong.
  2. Amazing, but I do feel a Shadow owner would be a cigar smoker rather than a pipe.
  3. For the rear bumper I was thinking that two of the front bumper corners might look good, i.e. two of these:
  4. A year round irration of my spaceship Civic is the fact the weather seals on the side windows don't 'scrape' condensation of the outside when you put them down. This means you have to manually wipe the windows when you can't see through them.
  5. Top marks! I was admiring that on eBay last night.
  6. Actually the fuel filler was a good clue as it has the Lancia shield emblem around the lock! Lovely looking car, but please replace the illegally spaced NI plate!
  7. Apologies for wading in, but is there a chance the OVP is doing what it should be doing and protecting the ECU from a regulator on the alternator that's on its way out?
  8. That looks really smart - good buy! The only rust I've seen in 205s was in the seam immediately in front of the rear wheels. I rescued a1.9gti many years ago with a mate. It was a lot of fun once back on the road, eventually getting sold to a rally driver ( it was a rare non sunroof model).
  9. That entry is a little racy. Might be enough to make me give it a miss next year and try Shelsey Walsh instead. It's been on my 'to do' list for a while.
  10. Saab had the same permanent cold air feed to the centre vents in the 900. Must have been a northern Europe 'thing' , perhaps akin to running out of a sauna and jumping in the snow. Good luck with the K-jet, I have also done battle with it in a 900 and can offer no useful advice.
  11. Is that the Practical Classics one from a few years ago. Great photo BTW!

    Rover P4

I have one that is almost the same colour, in fact I wonder if it is the colour yours has been painted on the exterior - Pine green? I need to dismantle the front of mine as well as the list of jobs are reaching a critical mass (noisy clutch bearing, knackered gearbox mount, cracked manifold, and a bodged core plug on the rear of the block). Problem is, despite that list it still drives really well! Good luck with yours, the videos are very helpful. Despite their popularity there isn't a lot of technical help on the interweb as I think most of the owners are from the paper and pen generation.
  13. It wasn't a yellow 4 door by any chance (as in my signature image)? I sold mine to someone in London around then and always regretted it. I found it a pleasant drive and really comfortable.
  14. Ovation and Hi Fly both do lower cost 185 80R15 car tyres if you don't mind Chinese deathrings. I put some HiFly HF201s on my P4 and they don't look out of place.
  15. If the rear brakes look at all neglected then a rear caliper rebuild is recommended. I had a seal blow on one in my 3500 auto and it was alarming how quickly I lost all braking! Could have been a lot worse, I was on my way to a holiday in the Lake District at the time with the plan of crossing hardknott pass...
  16. I think I prefer the looks of the fintail actually, the front end treatment on mine is the very definition of a cheap 'facelift' to drag a couple more years out of the model! However when it was offered to me I couldn't resist as it is so unusual and rare (never sold here, I think mine was bought by a serviceman in Germany and brought back after). Plus suicide doors were on my bucket list of car options. I've enjoyed reading about yours, and hope you get the registration issue resolved in the most painless way possible, certainly not involving any cactii!
  17. No thread as I haven't done a lot yet other than stockpile parts for the recommissioning! Have a few pics though from delivery day a few years ago: It drove in there, reluctantly and with no brakes, so it needs quite a bit of attention, but not surprising as it hasn't been on the road since the early 80s. It's had a cheap respray for some filming work which is a shame, but I'll probably just run it as it is once it goes as I'm not a fan of trailer queens.
  18. I have a slightly older Merc W187 and have found that the Unimog spares places are good sources of spares for the mechanical bits, I don't think they changed some of the parts from the unimogs introduction in the 50s until the 80s. Often cheaper too!
  19. That Volga had real presence and epic ground clearance, I reckon you could service most of the undersides without the aid of a jack. Further photo for scale, the Cavalier is NOT far away. Dash is glorious too:
  20. I don't think a Rolls owner should have to change direction, shirley everyone else should.
  21. Some pics from a great day: The Gold Standard Nope, I'd never either... Someone out 'shedded' my Acadiane with this cracking Ami; AS royalty!
