goosey got a reaction from mercedade in The grumpy thread
After changing the Transmission Fluid and filter on my wife’s car, in a hurry to get finished yesterday I backed over my plastic drain pan spilling 10ltrs of ATF over the fresh concrete floor in the new unit at my work. One upside is I found that acetone works really well in removing oil stains from concrete

goosey reacted to Matty in Main dealer repair cost, have a guess
In fairness that's how it is. A lad I know a bit recently got quoted 500 quid approx to do some work on his rs6 by an audi dealership. He bought the parts at £ 259 and did the work himself and was scathing about what Audi wanted. The extra 250 quid has to pay for the building, the wages, the utilities etc etc. Sometimes I think people think other folk should work for nowt.

Yes. Yes it is. So it's collecshun day. Still some hours to kill before leaving, so I'm still working. But let's go trough the checklist:
Breakfast: coffee and cigarettes
Poo count: let's not go there.
Lunch: in an hour or so.
Weather: nice British weather we're having, a storm was here last night and more rain and heavy winds are expected.
Distance to car: google maps says 127 kilometers by car.
Mode of transport: multiple.
Destination: Buzău.

This was exactly WHY I made a change (just a few weeks ago).
It is a million times easier to A) Get hired now and 2) Adapt yourself. I wouldn't want to be 'starting again' at 50, of that I'm sure.
Good luck. Sometimes you have to say YES to things you'd previously have said NO to - but that's life. Always focus on the positives, and I don't think you'll go far wrong. Good luck!

Lovely AS buying experience!
The to sort out list isn’t major and consists of:
Fit missing door check mechanisms, one is kindly supplied 😊
Replace the gear lever gaiter as worn
Replace the O/S door mirror
Replace the Ripspeed special window winder on the passenger side
Maybe do a clutch change at some point as it is a bit high and heavy, we shall see.
The EML is on and I knew this, could be EGR or, in conjunction with an intermittent EPC warning, could be a TPS issue.
Engine Power Control unit….
Anyway, it didn’t go into limp mode but trundled along quite nippily, so happy face.
Its a cute little buzzbox 😊😊😊

On the train to Chester, ticket office closed… please obtain tickets at your destination, hmmm.
Started well, tripped stepping up a bloody kerb and fell ffs. Oww.
Poo count nil. No idea what flavour the pully bit of the train is. Weather report… sunny!

Well, it’s scheduled to commence at about 4pm today…..
No idea what model of locomotive will occur. Poo count likely to be minimal.
Found a breaker of Loopoo cars in Crewe if needed at any point for bits.
Hope it passes the large feet/pedals interaction test…

BL way ahead on tech? 🤣🤣🤣😀🤣 Yeh obvious when you think about it, I mean I always longed for a shit looking fwd car with a square steering wheel. I’m sorry, that’s piss funny. We haven’t even mentioned the ‘really cool’ 1750 Maxi, that every up & coming wanted as their next company car, or worse still went & paid hard earned for.
Then let’s jump forward a bit to the Maestro & Montego ffs, my brother had an MG Maestro, what an absolute pile of dogshit. The build quality was nothing short of shocking, really bad. What’s with the FWD anyhow? Ask BMW, it’s simple, it’s the BEST driving experience, end of

Blocking a live lane in anticipation of a merge point further up the road should result in an instant driving ban.
