I know we have several prolific Essex spotters so we've probably had this before at some point, 42k miles Mazda 626 parked a short distance from its home

    Some more random stuff.
When I was 17 many of my contemporaries learned to drive in a K10 Micra but that was a long time ago so I didn't expect it to still be happening.
Saw the gold 460 again yesterday, then a different 400-series Ovlov today
Enormous Septic pickup on a Q-reg. 6.2 V8 petrol so I wonder how many gallons per mile it does.
Not at all shite but this is just gorgeous and I'd happily cruise around in it like Roger Moore or George Lazenby

All quiet on the spotting front due to lockdown? Well you'll be delighted to hear I saw a BROWN ALLEGRO today. If that isn't shite, I don't know what is.

After over a year of buildup, I finally passed my final MOD2 test yesterday, first try with only one minor for an indicator whoopsie.  This meant that the BMW F650CS that's been sat in my garage since last November finally got insured and out on the road with the last couple of hours of daylight.
It's done little more than get started up and left idling for a few minutes every few weeks since I bought it last year, it took a few miles for it to clear its throat but once it'd warmed up and had some fresh fuel in it, it ran superbly.  Just in time for winter!

And yes I know double yellows, it was a brief stop to stretch legs and admire the view.  Extra points if you can identify the location.

Looking at cars in New Zealand.....this particular piece of shit keeps winking at me, currently listed as $500 in the wrecked cars section of TradeMe.

Its 180km away from where I will be living so a three hour bus journey followed by a 180km drive home in a slippy clutched Impreza.  It’s tempting......and yes, in amongst my stuff is two and a half litres of RAL 5002 Ultramarine Blue Rustoleum Combicolor paint.  Any prizes for guessing where I am going with this?

Either way I need to commit to one of these as clutch kits, service parts, and timing belt kits are (pardon my French) fucking outrageously expensive there so I’d save a ton of cash buying them now and putting them in my shipping container.  I suppose ultimately if I don’t get one I could probably flog the parts at a profit through the small ads.  Decisions, decisions......

    Update 1.
Found some pretty mint alloys that were once on a MK2 Jetta but have since been refurbished with new tyres put on.

Still need to source some new bolts before I can put miles onto them,  a bolt has already snapped in the bloody hub when doing a test fit!

Fitment looks good though, much chunkier tyres with a lower profile! Not sure if I’ll have the height for thicker springs now without some rubbing.

I think I had P plates in the back window of my Yaris for about 15 seconds until they fell off and into the boot and I never put them back on.

I’ve been considering making a topic for progress with my Felicia for a little while, I want to reflect on what’s been done in a more organised fashion compared to flicking through photos on my phone.
I’ve had a keen interest on older generation Skoda for quite some time (100series-Facelift Felicia), I bought this 1999 T reg Skoda Felicia mid April. Would of loved to buy the pre-facelift model but sadly most seem to have been scrapped, however mine does come with the 1.3 OHV engine -the same used in Rapid 136’s, albeit slightly modernised and with Siemens multi point  fuel injection producing 68bhp.

First pic after a wash. Missing headlight trim, dinged rear OS door, NS fender is a bit bashed in as the original owner must of had a bit of a bash, the whole bumper sits a little lopsided. Hopefully can get the bodywork pulled at some point.

Wanted to put in the effort to get her running smoothly with some maintenance: new oil & filter, air filter, coolant flush, wipers, bulbs, spark plugs, fuel filter, valve cover gasket etc.
Drained the gearbox and refreshed it with new oil, was grinding going in reverse the odd time, and this solved it.

Engine bay needed multiple washes to clean up, looked a right bombsite when I bought it, some neglect was evident from past owner!

Blue Lagoon Metallic is the colour for anyone wondering.
Next to do is fit new discs & yellowstuff pads which have been sat in the boot for a couple months, need to file the edge of the pads down a tad and find a way to remove the locking pin screw from the disc.
The goal is to fitting some modifications,  some stiffer lowering springs and alloy wheels with good tyres. Nothing too crazy. The ride is pretty good, very little body roll, the strut brace seems to work well. A very responsive little motor, town and rural road driving is good fun.
    Updates to come.

    Invacar news. Good and bad.

The good news is that I did a compression test, and she seems fairly healthy. 110psi one side, just over 120 the other. Given the feeble compression ratio, I think that'll do. I also found the oil leak. It's the cooler. Will try the spare I have.

Sadly, I think the compression tester finished off the dodgy spark plug thread on the offside head. When I went to start her up again, there was an impressive bang as she fired the spark plug out. Bad times. It's really not easy to access the offside head, as the engine isn't centrally mounted. I think it'll be a case of head off and try to get a threaded insert fitted. Arse.

200D. How miserably slow must this be?
Saw the red Skoda first, then looked in front and spotted the blue one and it can't be coincidence they were together. MOT history says they were low-mileage cars but are both doing over 10k a year now!

Looks smart. I can foresee some arch rolling being required on the back if that is where they sit fitted, and definitely if you lower it. If you do roll the arches, just don't do it with mole grips like someone once did, it will look horrid. 🙄😂

Will definitely be keeping a close eye for any indication of oil and coolant mixing, after draining the oil it was just old and very dark. the rocker arms and valves were clean too (apart from old oil again). Wow though, what a journey! I'm looking forward to putting  miles on

Gave the rocker cover a good scrub as it was quite mank looking

Replaced the gasket as it leaked a lil oil down the side of the 4th Plug but now all is well
