808 Estate

I have been working in Baltimore the past couple of weeks. I did get to drive this beast of a cherry picker (admittedly only on the industrial estate). In contrast to the ones over here that are made from meccano and tin foil to keep under the 3.5t weight limit, this one had the lift made from 1/2" & 3/4"steel plates, was on a 4x4 chassis and had a V8 Cummins up front. Sounded awesome and was surprisingly sprightly for something that weighed in at 8.4t. Oh and you could drive it on a normal car licence.

They have these weird contraptions at Dulles International. They call them mobile lounges.

Back in the day, an American company called Wildfire made some very innovative HID UV fixtures as well as a range of paints and other mediums. Seems they are using LED fixtures now but they always manged to provide high UV output and mimimal visible light output. If you want to really scare yourself. Go and look at your kitchen and toilet with a UV light. 😲

I had 6 of those 400W UV cannons in my gigging days. Brilliant things and far better than the modern LED alternatives which give off too much ambient light. Great fun getting a venue to light up.
