Agila reacted to LightBulbFun in The grumpy thread
sounds like the lightbulb fitted was a of cheap low quality that had inadequate or no fusing
see when a lightbulb burns out, an electrical arc can form between lead in wires
and an arc has a negative resistance property, the more power that goes into it, the lower its electrical resistance drops and the more power it takes, and this will run away until something literally blows up
(its why discharge lamps need a ballast, to regulate the current)
so a good quality incandescent lamp will have some sort of fuse in the lamp cap that will safely blow if the lamp arcs at EOL and prevent catastrophic failure
I would check what type of fuses if any are incorporated in any spare bulbs of the same make and type if you want to avoid the same thing happening again
you can read about the different types of fusing here
http://www.lamptech.co.uk/Documents/IN Fusing.htm
but if your still not sure, feel free to post pictures of your spare bulbs and id be happy to tell you what type of fusing they have etc

Well that was quick. Sweated my way through a 6-hour apprenticeship interview yesterday and was told that I would hear within 5 working days. I get a phone call at 11 o'clock to say that I'm hired!! Still pinching myself now to make sure this isn't a dream! It took two years but man it's worth it.

All mine now muhahaha
I think it’s worth a lump more than I paid. Going to use it as a bit of a camper over the summer then do some bits of tidying. Paint bumpers etc.

Agila reacted to NorthernMonkey in Inter-county collection thread...hot Lexus action
The result of my travels?
I know what I said on the for sale thread at the time but half a can of Magners later and I couldn’t control myself.
I mean, come on, an old school, actual coloured V8 Lexus for a monkey?
Compared to the W140 MB, this is so much smoother and generally more refined. I can see now what all the fuss was about when they were launched.

I've just had a nose around on Google earth. Can't see a real problem apart from a little red abandoned car with a yellow roof.

Yellowstuff is for heavier and faster cars.
Great felicia though. I really liked mine but didn't appreciate it enough.

I know it's of not much consequence for a car thread, but this week I've felt more chilled /less stressed than I have in a hell of a long time - years even.
Must be something in the air here...
Car might need a wash...

Agila reacted to Cord Fourteener in Tim's Fleet - new V70
Door handle seems to work, a bit of oil applied.
Window regulator is broken, motor is fine though, so arround £20 will buy a new regulator without motor, for now I have inserted an ash sick to keep the window up.
I think I'm getting to think it was a good buy.
