There is a collection for me underway at the moment but I'm not there. A good friend of mine (who's not on this webshite) will be collecting a car from a shiter shortly...
The collection is for me. I just couldn't make it so he's doing me a big favour. I think he's currently on the M5

Like the XJ6 a lot.
Especially nice to have found one without a leaper, and just the naff badge to remove - I find a hairdryer gives enough heat to melt the glue on that kind of thing enough to allow it to be pulled off, then the glue residue removed with white spirit / thinners.

I didn't know you could get an XJ without AC. Must be a great car with a manual, an XJR with one is still fairly high on the want list.

Saw this being used by a YouTuber (Jimmy Oakes iirc). Whack one in a drill, obvs valve end in chuck.
I tried it, removes that horrible sticky foam shite you get with badges and stick on trims with ease!

After the Astra was crashed, I fancied a Saab 95 Aero to replace it. I was keeping an eye out for the right one when the Astra's clutch started to slip. I nursed it for a bit but then I was offered something very different in November 2018. A Mercedes ML270 CDI and it would cost me £350. The catch will be apparent from the pictures.
The rust has progressed quite significantly since then, but I slow it down with rust converter. This is the car that gave me my handle on this site and it is one of my favourites I've ever owned. I thought I'd drive it for a couple of months and scrap it because it was probably screwed, but it turned out to be very sound with an interior in near-perfect condition and the rust really is cosmetic. So then I thought I'd keep it as a tow car and get something else, but really I just drive it every day. A great, reliable car that has cost me bugger all in parts (a couple of hundred in total) over nearly 2.5 years and 40k miles. Looks like a bag of shit but it's just very good at being a comfortable, reliable and good car. It's even ok on diesel. It has towed car trailers across Europe and I still like it now. I spend money only on what it needs. It now looks a bit tougher with a set of Yokohama Geolandar GO15s to replace the rubbish Chinese ditchfinders it came with. It does a lot of towing and offroad and it's just mighty impressive, other than the obvious rust

I think it really depends on quality of engineering and build too. My BMW is approaching 270k and 19 years on its original chain and the chain is silent with no sign of wear that I can hear
It's a diesel and I've been changing oil and filter when it asks for it on the screen in the dashboard. Every 20k miles or so, usually. That has been a little under 6 months for most of the time I've owned it.
I imagine with previous owners it only had new oil every 20k or so when it asked for it
Some others don't last even with fastidious maintenance
