  1. After all the miserable weather we've had recently it cleared up here this afternoon and has been a beautiful evening. Left work at 5pm and set off up the A5 to Betws Y Coed then A470 to Blaenau Ffestiniog to pick up a light stalk for the BX from mat_the_cat. The roads were fairly quiet and I was enjoying the drive so on a whim instead of heading home when I got to Portmadog I took a turning down a little lane I've never been down before. Just followed my nose through the countryside with the rough idea that if I kept the mountains behind me I'd eventually end up at the sea. Found just what I didn't realise I was looking for at a place called Abererch, a deserted beach to walk along. A great evening spent getting lost/exploring cruising and playing the radio with no particular place to go. It's a long time since I enjoyed driving for the hell of it. The dog enjoyed it too and I got to watch the Coast Guard heli and RNLI practise some drills Fair play to whoever built this wall, this chunk looked like it had been in the sea for a while.
  2. Don't think mine has a lights on sounder - if it does it hasn't worked in the whole time I've had the car! I guess I'll start by checking for voltage at the stalk switch and go from there. Edit - just seen your comment on FB @mat_the_cat - cross-platform cross-posting confusion!
  3. Woke the BX from its slumbers and took it out on the road for the first time in yonks. 70 mile round trip to go and see @mat_the_catto get a new front strut fitted and it performed ok. Before I set off I checked lights, indicators and wipers which were all working although the tell-tale for the indicators and the wash wipe weren't however by the time I got to Mat's they were - self-healing Citroen! The overly fast idle hasn't fixed itself unfortunately, looks as if the wax stat on the automatic* choke is preventing the throttle returning to the stop. Annoyed about this as I shelled out for a NOS carb a couple of years ago in attempt to fix this - hopefully it's just a question of cleaning and lubricating something to get it sorted. Stopped off at Black Rock Sands on the way home to give the dog a run. They wanted £8 to park on the beach so I found a spot up the lane. The lights also stopped working on the way home so that's (at least) two fixes to attempt before setting off to FoTU on Friday. Any suggestions on where to start trouble-shooting the headlights gratefully received - the relay for them isn't with the others in the main fuse box - I'm hoping it's just a loose connection as they were working and then stopped.
  4. Does look good. I'm increasingly tempted by these, especially the 3 doors. What engine does yours have?
  5. Another Shitefest covid victim, hope you feel better soon. I keep trying to start things, feel dizzy and have to stop.
  6. I'd be prepared to leave my manor to go to a shitefest.
  7. "left nearly derelict by the 1990s" know the feeling mate "Mother, I can never come home again 'Cause I seem to have left an important part of my brain. Somewhere, somewhere in a field in Hampshire"
  8. @Talbotdiscovered that my aircon did just need a re-gas m9 and kindly sorted it for me at Shitefest in between showers. Today I treated the car to a new cabin filter - not the worst I've seen but certainly worth doing.
  9. In other words, ≥(would you like a fight?) on the binhoker scale

    Man Down

Sorry to hear of your loss. Best wishes to you and your family.
  11. Grand to meet you @PicantoJonand congratulations on getting your first motorway run under your belt.
  12. Splitting the flags here now you've all left. @AnnoyingPentium tried to call you - just spoken to the recovery yard - they won't let me get my spare off your car as it's already loaded onto a wagon and will be Scotland-bound by the early hours of tomorrow morning. We might be able to sort some kind of shitely transport to get wheels back to each other via SVM who are attending FoTU.
  13. Obligatory group shot Thanks to all who made the effort to attend a memorable if soggy weekend. Honourable mentions to the SVM for square breakfasts and the TV Themes Quiz and Entertainments Officer @binhoker668for suggesting Saturday's excursion and providing the much needed group shelter. Prif's sleeping it off in the back of the car, thanks for all the fuss and treats he's had this weekend. Safe travels home everyone
  14. Good to see you all @catsinthewelder, glad you're home safe. An automotive monstrosity and a Dacia
  15. @HMCwe do have red wine and access to eBay in North Wales you would have been ok. 😜
  16. Ah, sub-optimal. Hope you make it! Safe travels everyone.
  17. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Please bring cash for payment - £10 per person per night for camping payable to me please on arrival. Sunday breakfast will be a little different this year as Tom from the Bakehouse has decided he wants a lie-in on the Sunday. Chris the Chef from my work will be doing you sausage and bacon breakfast baps and a brew for £5 payable in cash to him. Not your usual rubbish, Chris has bought good bacon and sausage from a local butcher. He'll be serving up at the Bakehouse from 9am on the Sunday morning. One sleep 'til Shitefest!
  18. Pizza from the bakehouse https://www.thesnowdoninn.co.uk/menu and kebabs from the van Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday breakfasts cooked by my mate Chris using the facilities in the bakehouse. Chris is ordering the stock through his work out of his own pocket hence wanting an idea of quantities.

  20. @mat777 I think it's fair to say we work to vague aims rather than strict timetables but I imagine we wouldn't head off to the Air Museum until about 11am. Your best bet would be to PM your mobile number to Talbot who'll add you to the WhatsApp group so you can keep abreast of movements that way.
