  1. Why don't we meet up at Colsterworth Truck Stop anyway?
  2. Sorry to hear of your woes, all the best with the new whip and thanks for the use of the word "cromulent".
  3. Took the ex @83C Fabia for an MOT today Not too bad. Mechanic advised that the NSR coil spring didn't look too clever either so authorised replacing the pair. Unfortunately they can't get the springs before Monday and my car's in bits on the ramp so they dropped off a loan car for me to use. They're a good local indy and I'm grateful they didn't leave me (working/road legal) car-less over the weekend.
  4. When it's too much bother get the big step ladder out...
  5. There's others closer to Dolgellau (and hopefully you won't need any help anyway) but if you do get stuck and if there's any thing I can do I think you still have my number. Pob lwc!
  6. Is this one? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hoopties-Chris-Abbot/dp/B0C94DYFXR/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3H0QA3CWC5GL3&keywords=hoopties&qid=1699558332&s=instant-video&sprefix=hoopties%2Cinstant-video%2C142&sr=1-1 It's just called Hoopties. Good watch, thanks for the heads up. As the man said, "D'ya wanna go racing? Fuck yeah!"
  7. https://www.westroen-spheres.co.uk/ fitted re-conditioned spheres for mine which have been great - also does mail order. Fantastic work at such an impressive pace, well done @juular
  8. I dunno, it's a useful cue to scroll on by - if they can't be arsed to remove their used cups what's the chance of them doing much in the way of servicing or maintenance?
  9. I find myself quite drawn to this Peugeot Rcz 1.6 thp sport 156bhp 11 months mot but ⏰it's in Rhyl (NBZ?) ⏰it's re-listed ⏰it has a colourful* MOT history That's enough alarm bells that I should wake up but it's nearby so I might go and have a look anyway. @iainrcz can you tell my why I shouldn't?
  10. F&F PayPal payment paid. Big thanks to you and Si and the rest of the backroom bods who keep this place running.
  11. @ZelandethI might quite literally feel your pain. Is yours at the end of your collar bone? After 2 years of constant pain and being passed from physio to specialist I finally had a cortisone injection under ultrasound last week. They reckon it might be tendonitis in my case. Still in pain but hoping the injection might be beneficial after a while. Hope yours clears up soon.
  12. @Datsuncog - worth a look through https://www.hse.gov.uk/asbestos/essentials/
  13. Congratulations on all your work and a successful first sortie - hope it's the first of many adventures for you and the popemobile.
  14. Aye, @davidfowler2000gave me my spare back and took your alloy in a hotel car park in Peterborough on Friday night so it should be back in Scotland by now. Congratulations on getting the Fabia fixed up.

    FOTU 2023

Another really enjoyable FoTU. It's the sheer variety of cars that you get to see that makes it for me. As others have alluded the hipster/YouTuber/influencer crowd become more apparent each year or perhaps I'm just getting older and grumpier? My Fabia was directed into the classic and unexceptional display so I was able to park up with my fellow Celts, L-R = @juular@davidfowler2000@blackboilersuit@MrsJuular@captain_70s Photo dump in no particular order just trying to avoid cars that have been posted already

    FOTU 2023

Couldn't get the suspension leak or fast idling issue on BX sorted in time so I'm in the Fabia. Kinda hope I get parked in the classic and unexceptional anyway if only to upset the self-appointed FoTU Taliban in the Facebook group.
  19. After all the miserable weather we've had recently it cleared up here this afternoon and has been a beautiful evening. Left work at 5pm and set off up the A5 to Betws Y Coed then A470 to Blaenau Ffestiniog to pick up a light stalk for the BX from mat_the_cat. The roads were fairly quiet and I was enjoying the drive so on a whim instead of heading home when I got to Portmadog I took a turning down a little lane I've never been down before. Just followed my nose through the countryside with the rough idea that if I kept the mountains behind me I'd eventually end up at the sea. Found just what I didn't realise I was looking for at a place called Abererch, a deserted beach to walk along. A great evening spent getting lost/exploring cruising and playing the radio with no particular place to go. It's a long time since I enjoyed driving for the hell of it. The dog enjoyed it too and I got to watch the Coast Guard heli and RNLI practise some drills Fair play to whoever built this wall, this chunk looked like it had been in the sea for a while.
  20. Don't think mine has a lights on sounder - if it does it hasn't worked in the whole time I've had the car! I guess I'll start by checking for voltage at the stalk switch and go from there. Edit - just seen your comment on FB @mat_the_cat - cross-platform cross-posting confusion!
  21. Woke the BX from its slumbers and took it out on the road for the first time in yonks. 70 mile round trip to go and see @mat_the_catto get a new front strut fitted and it performed ok. Before I set off I checked lights, indicators and wipers which were all working although the tell-tale for the indicators and the wash wipe weren't however by the time I got to Mat's they were - self-healing Citroen! The overly fast idle hasn't fixed itself unfortunately, looks as if the wax stat on the automatic* choke is preventing the throttle returning to the stop. Annoyed about this as I shelled out for a NOS carb a couple of years ago in attempt to fix this - hopefully it's just a question of cleaning and lubricating something to get it sorted. Stopped off at Black Rock Sands on the way home to give the dog a run. They wanted £8 to park on the beach so I found a spot up the lane. The lights also stopped working on the way home so that's (at least) two fixes to attempt before setting off to FoTU on Friday. Any suggestions on where to start trouble-shooting the headlights gratefully received - the relay for them isn't with the others in the main fuse box - I'm hoping it's just a loose connection as they were working and then stopped.
  22. Does look good. I'm increasingly tempted by these, especially the 3 doors. What engine does yours have?
