    Sorry to hear the news.
  2. Do you have your big boy bike yet? I waited until I passed back in the day, not wanting to tempt fate - but then wished I had one ready to go
  3. Restorations are generally done for one of two reasons. 1) Profit - in which case, as long as it looks OK why would they care? 2) As part of ongoing tinkering by a loving owner - in which case the quality is at a DIY level. The "professionals" who do a restoration poorly for an easyish quid or ten are a different matter, though.
  4. That takes patience and a will to do a job properly, which are both in even shorter supply than money.
  5. Imagine being so poor you were carted off in an Astra.
  6. Move the pendulum even further away from the steered wheels... That'll help the handling.
  7. At a guess, I'd say pointing and laughing at the people buying them.
  8. It's so good though, it really is. Nothing against a parallel twin, I was very close to a 500x or a Yamaha Tracer 7/MT-07.. but the SV engine, even at it's age is just so good... Now with two plugs per cylinder and with the newly refined fuel injection.. so very good.
  9. The 500x is a lovely thing, I nearly bought one myself and the only thing that stopped me was noise and power of a certain 645cc V-Twin for not much more with discounts applied πŸ˜‚
  10. Practice makes better, then you relax and realise you're still not that good when something goes wrong and then practice makes better. Just keep at it, and don't be like most car drivers who seem to think that once they've past their test there is nothing left to learn, and you'll be fine.
  11. I love that little trials bike, but the motorcycle shed is full at the moment. I do respect a GS too, but can't help but think they're almost too capable to enjoy day to day - for my use case anyway.
  12. Barry Sheene was the Chuck Norris of motorcyclists. Hard as fucking nails, that man.
  13. It's bad enough when someone washes their screen in front of you.
  14. It looks a lot like a differential steering system and the levers would therfore be controlling brake bands - but I have no idea what the car or truck is.
  15. I've been grinning since fixing the exhaust on my son's 125. You may recall in the grumpy thread last week that I broke a bolt in the head. The second one snapped too, but since they were cheap aftermarket ones they did at least drill easily. Nice and gentle, and both bolts broke up leaving the threads almost entirely intact. Cleaned that up, new studs and away we go. Phew.
  16. The problem with collection missions is not the chod, but the jeapardy of using public transport. A brave man, indeed.
  17. Well, I got an exhaust for the lads 125, thought I'd very gently try the bolts at the engine end, as they likely won't move and will need some very gentle persuasion. Instantly snapped with next to no pressure. Fuck sticks.
  18. Wemoto looks favourite at the moment, just waiting to hear back from an online breaker or two, and a call to another in the morning - but if second hand is no good, I'll take you up on your kind offer @Rustybullethole
  19. Any bikists know where I might source a YBR125 silencer from? The one my lad bought has an aftermarket can on it that sounds bloody awful and Yamaha want nearly Β£500 for a new one. eBay not being particularly helpful among breakers, so.. it's a long shot, but no harm in asking.
  20. You've already seen the car dashboards, do bikes count? Yamaha YBR125 just purchased by Master Sham. It appears a bulb is out, but I can appreciate the classic look. And my SV650. Not a.classic look, but it is at least clear and not cluttered like so many these days. As an aside, so many bikes don't have a fuel guage - I'm glad these do, I'm not organised enough to get by without.
  21. And if it's not DNS, it's mystically linked to a print driver. Somehow.
  22. You know how when you're on a B road in a car and you just have the perfect drive? The sun is shining, the music's right,.any traffic you meet is met when there's an overtake on, you nail the braking point, the downshifts, the turn in, you pick up the throttle perfectly mid corner and power out with just a little squirm. Not travelling fast but having a blast. That was this mornings commute on the bike, it felt like I did everything right and everything fell my way. Bliss.
