  1. That is looking good. 25mpg on a run is good in these. We get about 28mpg touring, about 24mpg around town and I can squeeze 30mpg at a steady 70 out of the 3.0 X Type. I get around 17mpg out of the 110 V8. On a run. Around town? Never check. Not good to see a grown man cry. 😁
  2. The spanners would have to be Whitworth. And a code reader that doesn't.
  3. Wel done for this thread. I admire your fortitude for battling on against adversity here. The train network at the moment seems to be very broken. I have always admired these Range Rovers. They really do look a nice place to sit. The engines on these, as far as I know, have a good reputation for longevity. Best of luck with it and enjoy.
  4. Glad you got it done. I have had jobs like that where they fight you every inch of the way!
  5. Happy birthday to you all. Hope you have a cracking day.
  6. That looks fantastic! Friends of ours, well he took early retirement. They asked him to come back and do some work as a contractor. He said yes, but he wanted £800 per day! They said yes!!! This was several years ago, so I imagine his rate increased over the years. He has finally retired now. Great buy on the Lancia. Not often you see one still in one piece!
  7. That looks great. I expect your grandfather would be really proud of you! Well done, you are doing a fantastic job.
  8. Hopefully this will solve the issues you have been having with it. It will probably be the best one out there soon, if not already. Looking so cool.
  9. I hope your in-laws get better soon. Sorry to hear about the funeral. These really are a nice place to sit. They were certainly a step up, managers cars when they were new. Glad it is serving you well.
  10. Ah well, at least you got it sorted. Hopefully you'll enjoy a trouble free trip. 😀
  11. That is the benefit of having several cars, one breaks, then just take another! 😁
  12. All my cars are at least 20yrs old. I hope that they are never stolen as the book price for them is just short of fuck all. They are all brilliant cars and they are all used regularly. [I would say daily, but I don't go out that often]. Hopefully they are not desirable to car thieves.
  13. Have any of you good people out there have a 3D printer? Could something be made up? I have no idea how these things work, just wondering.
  14. 'The following morning Sandy was regretting going with that Chinese chap, Wong Hol'
  15. That is understandable. People bought toys during lockdown. Unable to go on holiday or go out, now, higher interest rates/rents, inflation ect, has sucked the surplus out of a lot of people's budgets.
  16. I think you are right. The Etype is, and has been for ages up in the stratosphere, the XJS is now getting there. These are so cheap at the moment.
  17. That looks lovely. I take it this is from the era when Mercedes didn't rot like a 70's Fiat?
  18. That sounds so awesome! Bet the neighbours would love that if you had a 6am start!
  19. I would love a CLK convertible. I would worry about rust though. Cars of the era I could afford tend to be a smorgasbord for the tin worm. Anyway, won't happen. I have enough cars as it is.
  20. That looks nice. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you'll get much chance to get the top down. Bit damp and blowy out there.
  21. I remember such paragons of 'excellence' of the Ford York diesel and the BMC 1.5, as well as the Landrover 2.25. Woeful just doesn't seem to do them justice. If they could achieve 45mph then you were going downhill with a following wind. The Peugeot engine was a game changer. They have come on so much. I remember the advert for a Nissan people carrier, can't remember the name but I think it had a 2.3 diesel, might have been the Ford lump? 0-60? 23 seconds!!!
  22. Just looking at your hand controls, do you have a little switch on the throttle/brake control for the indicators? I teach people with disabilities and this is something I have picked up before. I had one client who had great difficulty signaling because of it. Lovely car though. I have one myself. So smooth and comfy on a run.
