  1. Great work on this. They were great at being 'a car'. Seen loads of late 90's Toyotas around lately. Don't know whether they are ULEZ refugees or people can no longer afford the HFM new shiny on the drive and have begged or borrowed Grandad's old car.
  2. Unfortunately, they are, or have, reached that age where they ae worth very little. For us it is great as we can pick up a very nice working vehicle for not too much cash. I do see some cars up on ebay/facebook for serious money, and yes perhaps for the very best it is warranted, but for the rest, £1250-£2000 seems about it for a cherished, low mileage example with a full MoT. These are lovely cars. They ride beautifully. The diesels are reasonably good on fuel, but the V6, on full chat, well, let me tell you, it will make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck and give you goose bumps! Lovely. My V6, unfortunately succumbed to the dreaded tin worm. Hopefully my tourer will fare better.
  3. Lovely looking car, but, with no MoT and a suspect clutch, worth maybe £400 tops? More probably than the scrap man would give you, but I feel that is all.
  4. Good luck. Hope it all works for you and this time the bloody thing seals!
  5. That looks great! Normally they fade to a 'lovely' shade of pink, reminds you of Penelope Pitstop! Didn't they also form the basis of the Daewoo Nexia? Probably won't help at all as they all seem to have reverted to washing machines now.
  6. This is looking great. I admire your welding skills. How much are they asking for the small bottles of gas these days?
  7. What you can do with your LED light bar, I might have done this on my Landrover, is to put a 3-way switch on it. One way the LED lights are off, One way they come on with the main beam headlights, 😁 and in the other position they are on all the time. I just turn them off for the MoT.
  8. That looks great! Best of luck with getting it running properly.
  9. On the topic of popularity, you might find that if a car has a starring, or significant role in a TV series or in a film, then that model will see a surge in popularity. [MK2 Jags, Morse. Granadas, Sweeney.] It is as always budget dependent. Decide what you want, then get the best you can afford. At the moment, the best value sports cars seem to be MGF/MGTF or Mazda MX5's. Modern enough to have all the luxuries, power steering, decent brakes, airbags ect without the outrageous sticker price of something older.
  10. My daughter's boyfriend sent me this. I just had to share it. Great advert, shame about the car! 😆
  11. When these were new, they were considered a large car. Now they seem so small when compared to moderns.
  12. Good grief! and I thought car insurance was bad! At least with the Mini there is no computer to worry about. It's all very simple.
  13. Just how much is Eruopean breakdown cover these days? Might just need it. 😆
  14. That looks like a great fleet. Those Minors are great cars to tinker with. Nothing too complicated.
  15. We had one of these, an earlier model. These were a large and luxurious automobile when new, definitely senior management. These were to tell your neighbours that you had made it! Now the humble Fiesta and Corsa dwarf it!
  16. My dad had one of these in the 70's. I remember we traded in a Rover P6. The sills had rotted out, so we bought the Zodiac. What I remember was acres of black vinal. Hot and sticky in the summer and freezing in winter. 3litre V6 in that one. Used it to tow the caravan. Clutch started to go when towing up a steep hill in Bristol. Traded it in for a Landrover. Towing wasn't a problem after that.
  17. Did this one year, drained the rad rather than put antifreeze in. [I was a poor teenager] Water pump froze. Had to walk to work. Didn't crack the block fortunately. Put antifreeze in after that.
  18. That is looking good. Your Grandad would be proud.
  19. There are going to be so many really nice, big cars from 'non premium' manufacturers that are going to go over the bridge as people simply aren't going to pay that much tax. What a waste.
  20. That looks lovely. £1400, absolute bargain. That isn't a deposit for a never be yours, never ending monthly payment special. Being a 55 plate I take it the tax is just ouch rather than FFS!!!
  21. Just an aside to this. The 'Park and Ride' scheme in Taunton cost £1 per person. [Unless they've put the prices up.] Park as long as you like, no worries about your ticket running out, and just over the road from the motor museum is the main county museum in the castle. That too is well worth a visit. The county museum is free, and they have a nice little cafe.
  22. The Jag this year went up to over £200 from £156 last year. Went online and got £157. Phone up the company, went through loads of questions, and suddenly they can do it for £157. Result.
  23. Looking good. I bet you'll be glad to get it back on the road.
