  1. Good grief, that's gorgeous. Awesome progress on this project, what on earth are you going to do once it's finished??
  2. Yeah, I went to one of their final days last year. I'd still say those were "working trucks" though - being used by a commercial outfit for their intended purpose. I know their intention is for that to be the collection's future with another owner, so I wouldn't discount them.
  3. It depends how you define "regular service" really. A number of showman vehicles are older than Carmichael's Volvo, for example some of the Carter's Steam Fair fleet: https://www.carterssteamfair.co.uk/rides/ Also, one of my personal favourites - I'm not sure if it's in revenue earning service or whether it's a private vehicle that's liveried up as a fictious (but convincing) organisation - this Atkinson Borderer which also falls firmly into the "Do Not Paint" category. A few months newer than the Volvo, but anyway: (as spotted by @quicksilver)
  4. This needs an AS group-buy. I'll chuck in the P6 sale proceeds, that should get us part way there!!
  5. Looks brilliant when it's clean. Got some compliments last night, these are still great looking cars after all these years. Course it's getting rained on at the moment so there'll be lots of lovely dribbly pollen streaks all over it in the morning.
  6. Nothing for a couple of years (if I can restrain myself)... then a house. Hopefully. With a driveway. Then more shite.
  7. And there it goes. Back down to 1 car for the first time in just over 2 years. Sad to see it go, but happy with the deal we struck and it looks like it's going to a good home. I'll do a little "ownership review/farewell P6" post at some point when I can be bothered to.
  8. I hope the collection goes to a good home(s). I understand Adrian Shooter was one of the "good guys".
  9. @Mrs6C https://www.hjpugh.com/catalogue/lot/13b2290082cf684c66dcdc1ff478903a/1c3c2c7a814e240ee7e8f414f2bd69cf/the-beeches-light-railway-dispersal-sale-of-the-late-we-lot-161/ It's the right gauge
  10. Xantia Activa strikes the best balance between shite, noteworthy and long-distance journey. Otherwise, BX GTI, which is a bit too cool to be shite, or the E320, which is far too nice for shite but a wonderful mile-eater.
  11. Seen that around recently with L plates all over it. Cool car to learn in!
  12. I don't know what its official use is to be honest, it's not used in the areas I'm involved with - but the rolls we keep for the office go missing regularly as it's extremely useful.
  13. If it's the thin red stuff we have at work, be sure you've got everything in *exactly* the right spot before you press it down because that 3M tape would probably hold a house together!
  14. Me too, I am gutted that it's going. I don't think this will be the end of my P6 story and I could see myself getting another when I can store more than 1 car at home.
  15. I knew I couldn't sell the car without fulfilling this one. I hope you enjoy. A few drive-bys from earlier today and a little from inside when I brought it home on Saturday.
  16. Oh yeah, I see now - didn't spot that on my phone. I assume the 2nd photo is much newer as the rear arch looks worse and the front passenger door has fallen off, which isn't the case in the 1st photo - although they seem to have washed the dust off it, because that'll help . Plus the surrounding vehicles have changed, although the Austin doesn't seem to have moved judging by the yellow paint on the shed walls. Looking at the greenery attached to the Hornet/Elf, I reckon all of these have been stored in a hedge for years then dragged inside when someone realised there might have been some (long lost) value in them?
  17. Not only that, the first two photos are of different cars. In the second photo it's not parked butted up to a caravan and it's grown a blue strip up the bodywork. Wonder what that's all about.
  18. Well, it's had a wash, will give it a polish at some point too. Damn, I'm really gonna miss this car. Bit more of the 3.5 symphony.
  19. Picked up from storage for probably the final time, needs a wash but drove well. 2 weeks to go 😔
