Oh, so maybe there's a buildup of condensation in the spare wheel well again that's dripping out... Useful to have a pointer...

Not sure what it says about my reputation, but somebody nearby has bought a mk2 Cavalier convertible, and it seems everyone on the street seems to automatically think it must be mine.

Opted against the aluminium tape and booked the retest for Thursday... reason being that I’m trying to develop a good understanding with this tester and he was accommodating about a couple of items such as the state of my rear wings (could’ve been a fail if someone was being picky) as he understands it’s a work in progress and will be done, so to present for a retest with a bodge might make him less inclined to be accommodating next time... he passed the C5 today too.
So I decided to do the removal ready for when the pipe arrives so I can quickly pop it on
Got the time right down for wing removal, reckon it was off in about 5 mins this time, and the delay was only because the heat tube was held on differently to the other one, and being cardboard I didn’t want to tear it!
From the top the exhaust had looked fine... on the hidden side... 😳
Yeah that’s fail!
DHL say part arriving Monday, my tester only does Thursday & Saturday so Thursday it is!

They're at least very useful for having around for used oil, water etc around the garage... Normally a few hanging around at petrol filling stations.

The other difficulty is getting nasty comments about work done by a garage. There was some mud-slinging after the Rover 75's ABS light came on minutes after it had passed an MOT, but that's life sometimes, especially with 20+ year old cars. I think it's safe to say that anyone slagging off a garage for minor stuff has never run a garage. There isn't time to treat every car as if time isn't a worry. Jobs need sorting.
I can (mostly) deal with shitty comments aimed at me, but it's not nice when they're aimed at friends/mechanics who are doing their best.

I've been a member here for 18 months or so, took me a while to sign up having browsed for a while. I think I came via hubnut and flickr mentions of the forum. Determined to hopefully make some positive communication to the community one day...
The challenge of finding a decent garage who are willing is bad enough here in London with loads of places nearby, let alone out in the countryside. It took me some time to find a place that was 'right' and understood old cars, Doing Jobs Properly and had the patience/space to work on them. (I understand why so many don't - the economics of such jobs probably doesn't add up in the way that doing a service and MoT on a 10 year old focus do).

Went over to Enfield earlier - several interesting front gardens, this being one.

I listen almost exclusively to 80’s music so it wasn’t a problem, listening to the tapes with all the greats on it like Bryan Ferry, Sade, Scritti Politti...

Local errands to keep the battery from going dead. It really is very blue.
