Had a fab time, thanks so much for letting me tag along.  Amazing eclectic selection of chod on display and to get to climb over and in them was amazing.  The Saab probably would've just  pipped Clayts' Rover 420 in being stolen and bought home, but it would be a very tight call.
It was also delightful having a Lincoln filling my rearview until the A1 where we switched position.  Parted company at the A194, but I could've happily followed for a little longer.

What an ace day! Cheers awffy much for the meeting, and the shots of awesome cars.
Good to meet some forum legends too - Inc Too Sav - unfortunately no bridge in play for linwoodesque selfies.
M74 was shut in two places on the way home - so it was a shlep back, But was home in reasonable time.

Also - arty shot of my class win

Fitted a different vacuum pump in hope for better brakes, I think they are slightly better but not quite right, I think they are all brand new so might be bedding in or something.

Replaced the mirror with an original Peugeot one, replaced the steering wheel and found an 8 ball gear knob which seemed to fit better than the wooden one.
I dug out my tweed seats.

The originals were pretty well knackered.

Still need to sort out the blower motor, radio, 12v socket, intermittent wiper and screen wash motor.

I have to say that the Cougar really looked great from behind, as well as in the rear view mirror. Always liked them so the opportunity to drive it was much appreciated!

Thanks for bringing the Cougar along - nice to actually see and touch one in the metal. Deffo on a to do list if I get the chance for another cruisy wafter for my fleet further down the line.

Imagine going to a car meet up that isn't a meet up of the 405 fan club and only having the second best 405 there.

Sorry chaps, I'm not going to make it.
I've had a little incident on the A1. I did consider carrying on but thought it best to turn around, go home and check the car (and me) over.
I was tootling along the A1 in the inside lane in traffic in the rain, doing below the speed limit, the car in front of me swerved, I didn't … BANG!

Airbags down the drivers side of the car deployed, I pulled over, the car felt ok in the 3-400m it took me to find somewhere safe to stop.
A quick check and externally the car looked ok, I couldn't see any damage and I had no idea what happened.
Whilst I was gaffer taping the airbags out of the way a police man pulled over, he told me there had been a wheel on the carriageway, which he had now removed. He had no idea where it had come from.
After taping the airbags out of the way I gingerly set off home.
There is a vibration on the car above 50mph now, which could be anything from a buckled wheel to something bent/broken on the suspension.
I'm also a little shaken, and have a bruised arm from the side airbag deploying.
Shopping list now includes 2x door cards, and 3x airbags, and maybe headlining, plus whatever damage is found underneath … arsebiscuits.

Way hey!  Back on for the 'morrow, the Cougar roars again.  I removed the offending piece from my stash of spare parts and between showers swapped it over.  Fiddly bloody thing but able to get it sorted.  And to think the missus maligns my collection on drunken FleaBay purchases on the pretence that 'they may come in handy'.
The offending article.  Cheap shite Ford plastics.

this is an absurdly non committal post but it’s on 70 mins up the road so I may Bob up for scran and a nosey then bugger off home depending how my morning progresses as I’m supposed  renovating the house without any kids and wife around for a week, Volvo is also not taxed until 1st Aug so I’d be in a disgracefully modern A1 diseasal.
I’d bring the Sharan for a swan song but the petrol would wipe out the money from bridging it.

Well twenty quid of Sainsbury's finest instilled into the belly of the beast, and the throttle bodge seems good.  A few checks, some tools (i.e. gaffer tape and cable ties) chucked in the boot and I'm all good.
Must be said that the wife's reaction to me meeting strangers from the internet in a field in Bishop Auckland was that gaffer tape and cable ties were more likely to be used as  weapons of abuse.  She's so suspicious. For zero reason*
Oh, edited to add it wont be cleaned.  I haven't got time for that when it's running lean, the shocks are FUBAR'd, the rot is getting into paces it shouldn't.... you know the score.
