Bertone Freeclimber. Only sold in Italy and Spain.
A mix of German engine, Italian interior and  a Japanese body.
The basis of the 4x4 is the Daihatsu  Fourtrak (in the United Kingdom) or the Rocky in most markets. In Japan it was sold as the Toyota Blizzard. Just 2,800 were produced.  Unique to this 4x4 over the sister models are, the  BMW 6 cyl. engines (petrol 2.0 and 2.7 plus diesel 2.6). Plus modifications to the body and interior were made by  Bertone. I believe they were also assembled by Bertone.

My mum bought me a big Polistil one of those in Italy when we went on holiday there in 1978 (?). We flew there and back on Alitalia 727s so the livery made an impression on me and so I agree with you completely. She also bought me an Alitalia Mirafiori and Caribinieri Alfetta. That was a good holiday for a ten year old.

I remember a road test of one of those kitted out as a camper - one of the drawbacks was the front curtains closing if you cornered to fast...

Back in my youth I used to all sorts of exciting things with these guys as part of a multi agency initiative with schools and so on, between the Rozzers, Captain Flack and us from the VAS taking on the role of the ambulance service. Think demos of patient extractions from car accidents with the roof being removed and other such nonsense. It was all jolly good japes.
I recall being at a school in Blyth doing this and me and my chum were chatting to the police in their RS, who told us they’d got a Cavalier twin turbo (?) on trial.  Apparently they put it up against the RS and his exact words were that ‘It came up on it like the Cozzie was going backwards’.  Knowing little of performance cars aside from watching the stolen ones being blattered about the West End of Newcastle, I had no reason to disbelieve him.
I do know that they had a mix of motors including some Lancers at some point.  Apparently they also had an RS nicked from compound at North Shields before it got liveried up. 😆

This morning, I gave the rear brakes a service and ground the lips off of the discs,  finishing up with a quick pass with the flap wheel to remove any rust from where it has been stood.
The glove box handle has been repaired with araldite as I wasn't about to pay over a hundred quid for a second hand one, or a monkey for a new one.
The interior looks far better but will get another pass with the wetvac...

Its also had a new aerial, new pedal rubber and a plan is in place for the floor.

Dabooka reacted to Schaefft in Car theft in 2022
Well, this happened the other day to my Senator. The screwdriver is still in the back. They literally chopped the steering wheel off and took it with them after the car ran out of fuel half a mile down the road. Contacted police but financially it makes no sense other than letting them know. I cut my own splines into the shaft and drove it back with a pair of vice grips.
Time to order a new column and steering wheel!

BX TZD Turbo obtained, could be doing with a rear bumper or atleast the red trim bit but will probably have to buy a black one and paint it.

Near Durham. Drove past there multiple times and had no idea what was hiding down this road. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some deals to be had, I have to talk to the yard owner.

Meanwhile, a purchase might have occurred. It might take a few days before I have more news but I'm super stoked (and a little worried) about what has been acquired, there are multiple firsts for me with this one.
In the process I must have discovered the largest hoard of 90s Fiats, Alfas and Lancias in the country, all of which are no further than 5 minutes from my GF's house. I was blown away by the amount of cars (mostly shite) there and will definitely try to get more photos soon.
I mean, where else can you find three (!!) Fiat Tempras behind each other?
