The batteries you get (or used to) at Kwik-Fit were 2 in 1. round normal posts,but if you levered them off, they had the Ford square posts underneath. I'm sure they were Exide batteries.

Yeeah! Another fan of old Mercs Currently got a 190D,previous were C200,W124 230E and a 190D 2.5. All were cheap and FABWont join in the luv of mister twos though. X1/9's forever!!!

The slug,taken in the snow today.. My old 518 Touring My LPG'd 300,000 mile Primera £100 quid Galant W124 230E in the snow 2.5 TD Shogun in the snow... All the above cost me WELL under a grand each..

I used to work in the dealership in Dingwall when those were new, changed loads of rear diff's under warranty,LSD standard if I remember.? PITA to change the plugs too, but otherwise were fairly good. Loved the Karmann edition with the colour coded bullbars...

Nobody mentioned the Ford Explorer yet? Superb towcar! I had a TD Grand Cherokee for a bit,laredo spec. Towed well, over 30MPG and no issues at all,better than a RR IMO,had one of those too...broke my heart. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1998-Ford-Explore ... 3a55b9fca6

Merc 190d. I do 15,000 miles a year in comfort,46MPG and 100% reliablility.Plus I got a star on the bonnet!! -
The 1.4 is the TU engine, so the manifolds at the front, 3 nuts, 1 allen key into the gearbox,and the rest is easy. Good point about not using sealer before the CAT though!

I remember seeing a 2.9 VR6 engined Lupo at a car show once, looked factory too, but it was mm perfect! Found a pic...
