My brother, who is in his mid forties and therefore technically not a giffer has loads of tin signs stuck to the front of his house. I always make a point of asking him for parts for my BSA every time I visit.

Possibly should be some susie coils on the back of the cab with some coloured wires representing the trailer air lines? I've got the Corgi Brian Harris ERF with crushed car load and the susies are on a small plastic block pushed into a hole in the rear of the cab.
Then again, I can't see any small holes in the front of the trailer that the other end should push into.
Bloody nice truck though, I love the styling of the Ergo cab.

Some 1/50 scale kitchen haulage happened over lunchtime.
Unboxed the Corgi Classics AEC late last night, and yes it's a heavy old thing.
A really heavy old thing. The box trailer's all-metal; it weighs over half a kilo by itself.
The tampo printing's really quite good, though there's not a lot of detail on the trailer doors or anything.
The refrigeration unit is the bit that always really excited me, for some bizarre reason.
It's fairly well done, with textured ridges where the intake fins are.
The cab's pretty well rendered, given that it's a mass-produced model and that three decades have elapsed since then.
Diamanté headlights add a bit of sparkle, and the silver plastic grille moulding gives some brightness to the front end too.
Nowadays we might expect photo-etched detailing and things like wipers and badges, but for the time this felt pretty good.
Mirrors seem to be factory fit rather than relying on the collector to ruin it themselves with a tube of glue - though the front numberplate lettering seems a bit small and squashed.
A decent stab's been made at the interior too, but it's not very easy to photograph.
At the back, I'm not sure if something's missing from mine - there's a large rectangular hole in the cab. Some lights might have been good too; it feels a little unfinished.
I was pleased to find some of the original documentation still inside the box too - some information about the truck it was modelled on:
And a plastic bag containing the unpainted figures Corgi was so keen to foist on collectors for no apparent reason; there's what looks like a warehouseman and a fairly bent lamp post still wrapped up, and I daresay they'll remain that way.
As bemoaned upthread, it's a shame these were put out in 1/50 scale rather than 1/43, as I'd love to be able to put these next to my cars and vans but - can't be helped.
I'm not sure that I love this yet, but it could grow on me...

A few more projects on the freshly cleared workbench I’ve started.
Transit mk2.
These are the van for me! They look like a van should look and I remember them being everywhere when I was a kid. Then of course I got to own one of my own so they’re a favourite!
There’s a few available from IXO, which I have too, but this version is the IXO casting from the rally support vehicles partwork.
Looks like this to start. Nice looking model but not the best looking livery for it. Loads of details should be in different colours too which make it look a bit odd in places. But as a partwork magazine issue they often are more basic than the premium releases.
Stripped.
This took a bit of work to get right for a UK van too. Being a French team van means it’s left hand drive which also means the side door is on the wrong side! I measured up the original then transferred the sizes over to the other side then used my razor saw to cut into the body around the outline of the door. Then added hinges and a handle from scrap plastic card.
The original door was filed down (hinges & handle) then a skim of filler over the detail before a rub down, then coat or three of filler primer and further rub downs.
Painting started.
Because I’m such a boring sod I’m going to go for a plain white van this time as so many of these were. It’ll need a good few coats to get good coverage but so far so good.
While I was doing that I started stripping down another model ready for another truck conversion.
A while back I bought a pair of these RABA wreckers. RABA trucks weren’t available here but they used cabs from other manufacturers for a long time. Starting with DAF cabs they moved on to MAN cabs like this model… which we did get here from the late 70’s on.
Im keeping one as a wrecker but the second will become a tractor unit (probably!).
I got as far as stripping it for now.
Cab is excellent! Really does look like the MAN original, all it needs is the holes in the roof from the light bar filling.
Chassis is very nice too, it might need shortening a bit yet but I’ll have to offer everything up and compare to photos before making any cuts. Do I do it as a 6x4 or lose an axle and go for a 4x2??
I might use this as a tractor unit for my low loader trailer so a 6x4 might look the part a bit better. I’ve got a plan for a load on the trailer now too involving another truck I’ve got (which has been packed away!!) so this might be a long termer.
But, I’m well pleased with that MAN cab!
