  1. They're just too slow and heavy imo. The straight 6 is a pos like the 1500 😂
  2. I'd like to build a GT6 at some point but put a duratec in it or sommit.
  3. I was never really into them until I started building this one. Supercharged herald estate next I think.
  4. My old boys first motor was a Herald 13/60 but when my mum was pregnant with my sister he had to get rid so I decided to build him one as a present about 3 year ago, galaxies and many other cars put it on the back burner. He landed in the hospital other week and it really brought it home that I need to finish it and give him it before anything happens so I'm working on the Manta then spending a half hour every day just fixing a door or a boot lid on the Herald. This is the pos I got for £300 in all it's hammerite glory I decided to do a nut and bolt rebuild with all brand new parts so it wouldn't give him any bother Paint stripping stripped right down to a chassis and new floors put in the bulkhead His was mobiltiy blue and I wanted something a bit more modern so Riviera Blue was picked although I'm kicking myself for not going Miami blue so next one will be Miami. At this point I got the itch to modify the engine so I ripped it back out and threw in a Kent TH3 and got the head and block skimmed to lift the compression a wee bit, threw on 4 carbs and called it a day. The cam is a higher power band rally spec and it's got a little bit of a lighter flywheel so it spins up well enough, wide band and megajolt/speeduino to be fitted once it's painted and on the road. Tub was a riot and needed a ton of welding . Bulkhead and bonnet was done next. This is where I met Captain70's so I never really did much after this apart from veneer the dash panel and put pedals etc in. There's a sound system and new seats up the loft for it so he can hammer about in it listening to some bands from his youth. I could have bought one for what I have in it between the hours and parts but it wouldn't have meant as much I reckon so lets hope he bloody likes it 🤣
  5. No worries, just come down and I'll weld it up while you wait, it won't be more than a half hour to complete 👍
  6. If you can get it down I can weld that up in 20 minutes, that's hee haw.
  7. Finished. Manta in garage to rip the rear axle out of tomorrow and weld these mounts fully.
  8. Ring the bike to an old Honda or something so you can get it registered and insured. Who cares if it's an Invacare or a Honda Easy as that 🤣
  9. Starting to come together Sic, keep forgetting you're working on this 🤣
  10. Rover sprayed. This has been the hardest colour I've ever had to source. 4 paint shops couldn't mix it as one of the tints is EOL and every time the machine took a sample it spat out diff colours 🤣 Never charged me for them 2 right enough but I think they need to sort the spectrophotometer out.
  11. My dad collapsed yesterday morning and was rushed into hospital then shipped off to Monklands for scans and tests, looks like something is up with his kidneys. Stupid idiot had been pissing blood since Wed and never told anyone. Just had to drive his car home from Monklands without insurance and was shitting myself the whole way home 🤣
  12. Better watch throwing that Nazi word around fella, you might get cancelled 🤣
  13. These dizzies go counter clockwise and number one is the bottom looking in from passenger side usually, between 9-6 o'clock with number one at tdc. Will it fire with fuel sprayed down it's throat? If it doesn't you're either ignition timing or a tooth out on the cam/crank.
  14. Dome and myself got the engine mocked up on Sat. Crossmember modified. Steering rack spacers added to the crossmember for clearance. Bolt everything back in tomorrow and start building engine mounts along with the gearbox mount .
  15. New sill and a pillar for this side done. Still needs bodyworked and the door check stray hole cut square and that. Thought I'd get away with just replacing the back part of the sill but it needs to right down to the front bit. Sill over a sill and an inner arch over an inner arch but at least the inner arch is sound. Not a bit of the centre strengthening panel left so they just threw sills over it and called it good Cheeky bastards never even painted the insides of the new sills. Aw naw my grinder with no guard has ended up in one of the pictures 😂
  16. I spit my latte out 🤣 Got a latte flavored keyboard now!
  17. You know you want to poke the scabby bits .......
  18. I'll never forget slamming the back door on the Acclaim and the sill fell off, I was fucking rolling on the floor laughing for about 10 minutes then it hit me I had to weld it 🤣
  19. Would have been a shame to break this big car, solid old thing apart from the sills and pillars. I've had a gander over it and it has a couple of little blebs coming through the paint but it's nothing serious as long as you don't poke em 🤣
  20. I honestly thought this pillar was sound till I chopped the bottom of it off and saw the 3 layers of steel 🤣
  21. Rover P5b belonging to Saabnut.
  22. Didn't help the Michelangelo of Wob hid the tack welds really well 😂
  23. Drivers sill off. Held on by Jesus and 7 tack welds 😂 Pillar on this side is fine I said 🤣
