They're completely right 70Ah 620 CCA is wayyy excessive. With cars like these you can get away with almost half that.

The Shaken sticker doesn't say it expired in 2016, it says it expired in Heisei 16 which is 2004.
The circle sticker isn't the Shaken either, that's the square one in the middle. The circle is actually called Tenken-seibi and is actually a non-mandatory inspection perform by garages and dealerships, but it's so widespread that it's rare to see a car without it (self inspected).
The Shaken sticker changed in Jan 2004 to become smaller and more detailed. I guess right before this car was exported. You pretty much got the last of the classic Shaken. That one doesn't show the year, the colour itself rotates every 4 years which determines when it expired. My source maybe incorrect but if it's green it expired in 2001, if it's blue it's probably 2003.
P.S. Meiji 16 was 1883, Showa 16 was 1941 and Reiwa 16 would be 2034. There was no Taisho 16 because the emperor lasted only 14 and a half years. Most Japanese probably can do conversion in their head!

Conan got a reaction from Supernaut in Automotive cockroaches for the 20s and 30s.
This just popped up on my Youtube recommendation. Mitsubishi is hardly the pinnacle of quality so it really is a testament to how good a random cheap shitty car can be nowadays. 325,000 miles and only a mild piston slap which is apparently more of a manufacturer defect rather than from use, or perhaps worn lifters which is wear and tear but it's at 325,000 miles.
We got one since new and can report that despite being a simple design without many mechanical foibles, the entire thing is made of cheapest shit quality possible and comparatively to stuff like the Honda Jizz or even the Micra some random components will fall apart with comic ease. (Ours had a wheel bearing failed at 40,000 miles, radiator fan failed at 50,000 etc.) Yet at the same time they're proven plenty good enough to still be able to go huge miles and not die.
So I reckon pretty much the majority of N/A pez econobox can be considered cockroaches, only few exceptional cases.

I'm glad you persevered because this thing looks amazing! I'd imagine it'll be a surprise head turner when it's finally on the road as well as I find for some reason a once common car in actual colour gets loads of attention these day. Also because it's not 100% exactly perfect better than new condition if it was mine I'd not mind driving it a lot as well.

Okay, here's a good one.
A lot of the "unpopular opinions" in this thread is hardly unpopular, even to normie communities.

Few years back I painted some engine bits and despite cleaning everything well got exactly the same craters on the surface. I thought there could be some moisture left or something but I couldn't really ever got it out. TIL it's silicone contamination which make sense because for whatever reason people love using trim dressing in the engine bay.

Conan reacted to NorthernMonkey in LightBulbFun's Invacar & general ramble thread, index on page 1, survivors lists on Pages 24/134 & AdgeCutler's Invacar Mk12 Restoration from Page 186 onwards, still harping on...
It always has been, @LightBulbFun but what you must also understand is it’s become as successful as it is because of the way people have always been able to get along, take the piss, help each other out and generally form a community without getting upset that someone has said something they disagree with.
You are more than welcome to partake but you must be prepared to fit in with the general ethos of the place. There are plenty of members who have gone out of their way to help you and offer advice but you need to stop getting so upset when the popular opinion doesn’t go your way 🙂
