There are 5 of us - me, the missus and three kids aged 5 to 12. In the van we have storage, toilet and cooking gear, but no sleeping stuff so tent goes up each stop. Only exception is if we are just breaking the journey for a night, in which case we may stretch to a hostel/cabin or some equally low budget solution! Kids still reminisce fondly about the ‘posh hotel’ we stayed at in Biarritz - which was actually a 2 star back packers hostel!

Exactly the same as my dad's that. Very short run that had the rack on the tank.

Pretty pleased with how this has turned out.

Headlight boomerang is a part I painted, the side panel is original paint, it's a good match.

You can see in this light some of the wobbly reflections where the mudguard is made of filler, staples and hope underneath the paint.

The new second hand side panels aren't super mint but that's OK, I can't own anything really nice anyway as I haven't got the time or energy to keep things clean/nice.
I also changed the oil and fitted half a set of 60% stiffer clutch springs. This was delayed a few days when I found that the oil strainer was missing from the engine. Turns out that the sump bolt was a random bolt that had been cut down, and I guess it was too long for the strainer to fit.

Just been out for a v.short blast and all seems well. I saw 70 indicated on the speedo on a downhill stretch and could maintain 55/56 on the same stretch back up. I don't think the top speed will be loads different but I reckon that an indicated 55-60mph cruise will be no problem on a flat road.
Sadly according to my phone gps, 60mph on the speedo is actually 80kmh/50mph, and 70mph is 93kmh/58mph.

The C200 broke down the other morning. Thought it was fuel, but there was enough in it. Luckily the walk of shame was on a couple of hundred yards and it's not exactly heavy, so was no biggie. It started again later after I arsed about with the fuel tap (the main one doesn't work properly and seems to mostly put fuel through even when off), and bizarrely  enough had ran about the best it ever had prior to conking out.
Nothing exactly exciting happening with it, just managed to fit a small LED light on the mud flap for a touch more visibility. Annoyingly though, it swings about and dings on the mudguard which is yet another noise to conetend with, along with the exhaust which needs to be bolted on properly. That's actually an arse of a job due to the way the PO mounted it, the back wheel will have to come off. It needs new chain and sprockets anyhow, so might as well do it at the same time and see what state the rear shoes are in.  Current set up is 16T front and 39T rear sprockets,  although the acceleration is reasonable, I'm considering 15/42 (or near as) to try and get a little better cruising speeds.  It'll do 45 (and no doubt more) but is quite vocal and I don't want to blow it up.
The ultimate plan is a miniature tour of North-Mid Wales, possibly in a day but probably have a stop over half way round. Need to do some sort of longer distance reliability runs  on it really, including a few decent hills. There's a good one about 4 miles from here that's not the longest but is steep enough and there's place not too far from there that climb for quite a way.  There's only 3 gears to play with, so will have to get the balance right.

Anyhow, here it is pre-break down the other morning...

...and the snazzy* new back light...

Not fitted the wind shield yet, will have to get some brackets made up for that somehow.

How much you going to be asking for the GT185?
Regards to what people have said about the 'reverse' shift/brake. When I used the Bantam I wasn't too bad from the word go but it was constantly on my mind. I would make the odd error if I wanted to dab the back break quickly. My dad though can't undo the years of riding Japanese bikes and struggles way more ha.

A day off work today to go and pick up some new shite that's inconveniently located at the opposite end of the country. Will the trains be on time? Will it break down on the way back. Let's see.
No breakfast pic as I finished it before I remembered to start this thread.

    Hi,
I had several when working at University in Kathmandu then in the UK had the standard  Indian 350 Enfield (will find photo later) for about 5 years and ran it mainly locally as, obviously, they are easy to steal.  Hint, have somewhere secure to park overnight.   I've ridden old British  bikes for over 40 years so to expected low quality parts and constant minor maintenance, right shift and kickstart are techniques which take a bit of learning but not really an issue.  If not already done then a basic rewire and clean of switch and light contacts, learn how to clean and set up a the carb, change to a "modern" carb does make a difference.   Keep checking the tightness of nuts/bolts until you have faith they are not going to drop off. You need to have it set up  and geared to be quicker than an HGV.  Mine went to someone on Autoshite, I looked for another recently and know another member had one which may still be available.  Here's a pic of the shop near my allotment, they used to lend me their official Enfield of India workshop manual. I'd advise trying to borrow one for a while as they can get a bit of getting used to if you have not ridden British stuff, mine went on loan and did a tour up non-Motorways to Leeds and back so they can be used for touring.

Did a great loop Saturday evening. Decided I wanted to go for a ride abotu 4:30 in the evening.
Have been wanting to head out to Devils Staircase for a bit to see what it was like.
Rode out from the Midlands towards Rhayader, across to Newbridge on Wye. Then out towards Devils staircase. It's a great single lane up towards there. Then over the top, around Llyn Brianne reservoir which is another great single lane winding road. I knew Strata Florida starts around there so I rode a section of that, but didn't want to do too much as it was getting late and I didn't have a tube with me. Headed up over the hills down into Tregaron, around the back of Elan into Devils Bridge then home via Newtown in the Dark. Ended up getting home about 11:30 but it was an excellent ride and one I look forward to doing again soon. I would recommend it to anyone. Next time I will go early morning and include a ride through Elan Valley as well and out towards Aber.
If anyone wants info on the route just let me know.

Have a look at T4 short shift mod. It's worth doing if you have a spare hour.

Anyone looking at these new Voge Rally 300's?
They really look a great buy and for just under the 4g mark. Time will tell how reliable they are. If I didn't have my Himmi I would be tempted.
