One of those moments where normal people would think you are crazy.
Did a deal with @paulplom a couple of days ago. Traded my 107 with him for an S80 that was his father in law's. Paul wasn't hiding anything and I'm sure he won't mind me saying the car was pretty grubby when I got it and a bit rough around the edges. I spent a few hours on it cleaning it and making it look smarter. It cleaned up really well.
Anyhow I drove across to Norwich, the land of @JJ0063 and swapped the Volvo for this classic piece of Nissan engineering. The Volvo was a dream to drive across I won't lie. So effortless and comfy, even I was wondering if I was making the right decision.
Buzzing back home in the 4 speed Nissan was a lot slower and not quite as comfortable ha. Was a lot of fun though as you can imagine.

Out on the red C90. It looks like I've sold the brown one to a guy from Devon and we're meeting at Leicester services which is roughly half way. Sold it for £1600, £200 more than I paid which'll cover my diesel in the van.

Borders show was cancelled the weekend so we went out for a ride on the Saturday instead. The four of us made a strange group all together.
The Busa is an import from the states with quite a few modifications to increase power. It was clocked at 208mph over there by all accounts. You can imagine that cruising along with a TS185.

Subaru replaced with uneconomical, probably catastrophically unreliable waft machine…. 3 litre auto, for maximum penury….

I've done about 200 miles in this and it's been great. I took it to Southport and back (100 miles) and it was fine. There's a random clacking that sometimes happens when it's coming to a stop with the clutch down, it never does it in drive. I can feel it through the transfer box lever more, but no idea where it's coming from really. It stopped when I engaged locking hubs on the front wheels and when for a blast down Thurstaton beach on Friday - but eventually comes back. It doesn't sound terminal and I thought it was the spring on the handbrake mechanism catching on something on the TB?

She's been busy on this while I've been working on the 205 / Amazon.
Since the steering rack is out it was only a few more bolts to get the subframe out so the welding could be done.
Engine on stands and frame dropped.
So, the chassis rail ends are a bit foosty. The offside has had a badly done patch at some point.
The nearside isn't anywhere close to that level of bad.
I recommended starting with the easier side to get the hang of it.
Zap.
It looks lovely and clean in there, nothing else to worry about.
The plan is to replace the cylindrical piece with a bit of pipe and ensure it's aligned properly with the subframe bolt in place, then weld a replacement section over the top of it.
She's been practicing her welding, and it's pretty good for a first go.
While that was happening, bits for the steering rack arrived, so that got rebuilt.
Ready to bolt back on.
After the small bits of welding are done, that's pretty much it ready to bolt back together and go on the road as a rolling project.

Your house is such a hotspot of fixing that I'm tempted to drive past slowly and see if my car improves.

tom13 got a reaction from GrumpiusMaximus in Fiesta Zetec Climate 05 reg. Latest shite buy.
I had a facelift (2007) 1.25 and it was one of the best cars I have ever had. Fun to drive, frugal, decent space, good spec. I was sad the day it went.
5 door with the 1.4 engine would be what I would buy if I bought one again. I love those wheels as well. Great style.

That is an ace looking bike but stuff isn't selling very well at all at the moment. That with the work that is needed will drop the price down I would have thought.
I bet it would make ok money on Ebay for people looking for a project bike or spares. Might be worth holding onto it until next spring though. Hopefully cost of living settles and you will get a for a decent amount.

Gave it a quick going over with some car shampoo and a mit, think it’s come up well, couple of wings and a wheel refurb should have it looking a million dollars…. atleast two and a half grand.
I’ve a question for any Merc lickers on here, may post in ask a shiter, managed to track down a couple of wings locally but they’re from an early W124 without the Sacco panels, is it easy to attach the Sacco panels to these early wings or does it take some modification?

Staying in the collection but they're not especially rare - you can get a biggun too
Blue seems to be the more common colour in either size

Wow great buy.
When I had my Sportcross there was a yellow debadged *Lexus that looked abandoned outside a house for ages. I kept meaning to go and ask if it was for sale but never did. Year or so later it popped up on Facebook for sale. Was a rough Altezza which was £7000!! These things are really rocketing up so you have made a wise purchase. Would love a Gita but too rich for me at the moment.
