All of my tools are at my unit and I can't get there until probably saturday (maybe even not until next saturday) and I need/want to get these sorted by the weekend.
I think I maybe have a normal hammer somewhere, which would be both better and worse at the same time.
I can only assume the Halfords and other "proper" brands that sell what look to be identical shelving must actually be a bit better made
No, they all the same quality. Fairly rigid when up. I increased strength with a screw into the wall on each back leg.

I am hoping to be there, I was at Routemaster 60 and lost all my pictures of that event due to a hard drive failure
Take a film camera, when you send the film off to be developed get an extra set of prints. The original back up system! Just don't store the negatives next to one your lit bulbs.

Sportsbikeshop does free returns if your order is over £25. Order 3 sizes and return the other 2. I ordered 2 pairs of bike gloves and returned the pair I didn't need. It's all online and seems to be automatic. Of course you have to pay for the full order upfront.

Very nice bit of kit...... Would you not be able to sell off the other beams to other nutters like us and recoup most of your costs perhaps?
I could try to flog em, they are approx 2.85m long (Inc the bracket bits) so they won't go in a Fiesta! Not sure I can face the great unwashed via auction sites/bumtree They aren't that expensive to buy from used dealers. There are 12 on eBay for £40. There are some 2.3m ones for a fiver each.

Minor racking update.
I'd collected a couple of thick pallets for the boarding but wasn't satisfied and couldn't be bothered arseing about with something that would never be to my requirements. Chipboard decking is available but once it gets damp/wet it's useless.
eBay had loads of ready made timber examples but most had wide gaps so I found some "closed" versions with a minimal gap leading to a run down to the beautiful West Mids.
£15 each (no vat, no receipt - £18 if wanted a bit of paper). 6 bought which covers 3 levels. Timber is 32mm thick. But my god they were filthy. Pic after they were hosed done. I was expecting more marks, stains etc. I reckon they've just been sat in an unused corner of a factory for a long time.
There's approx 11+ linear metres in each one. I can't get the timber that cheap, nevermind the faff of cutting and assembling.
Each one is 1340mm long. They would have fit in the back of the Doblo but some of them would have rested on the protrusions of the folded up rear seats. 4 Allen bolts and washers and the seats are out. I've had the f-ing thing 12 years and never had the seats out.
Yeah I know it's filthy but would ya look at that load space!
(The owner of the racking place had a modern Jag in bits. He says "I'll get this Jag back together one day". I said nowt, very unlike me )
Major racking update
After visiting an v unwell family member today I thought a bit of physical was called for...
I'm well impressed with the set up. It's absolutely rock solid. I used the middle level as a platform to lift (solo) the top level beams in place.
I'm trying to balance the work bench height against maximising storage space but the middle bench level is going to have to come down a bit.
Cost was £130 for the beams and uprights. The boarding was another 90 quid so total of £220. I also got another set up of a loft over the garage door (see a page or 2 back) out of the original racking purchase so a right bargain I reckon.
Slight issue is I've got to fill these gaps
You can't really tell in the pic but the brick roof supports are in the way of the racking going flush with the rear wall. The gap is about 8". I plan to fill by screwing 3 x 2 to the wall and the boarding and infilling with cut pallet slats.
I've still 12 beams left, probably cut em up and use as fence posts up the allotment
TOP TIP: There are different makes of racking - Link51, Redirack, Mecalux, Stow (mine) etc. They are all proprietary and not interchangable between makes. So if buying any stick to one brand.

Been busy getting the motorbike out of its cocoon.
We had the house, garage and shed rewired so wanted the bike safe from damage and theft whilst we moved out for the duration.
I've also been building the industrial racking I bought 2.5 years ago.
Will be a garage loft:
Will be a workbench and mahoousive storage at the far end:
I can lift the 1.5t rated beams and slot them in solo but not the 3t ones (ones on the floor in pic 4). Oh, one of the the blue frames fell onto my back! No damage done.
Each racking unit is 2.2m H (cut down from 4.5m) x 3m W x 900mm D. Although I'd measured and measured I was mightily relieved when they fitted in the garage.
Best off there will still be room to get a car in if it needs working on.

My mum has been suffering with shortness of breath, a cough and weight loss. The GP started investigations v end of Nov and the hospital continued that through December and with invasive stuff last week.
She got the diagnosis yesterday. Mesothelioma - lung cancer from asbestos. Beyond the devestation for her and us as a family we can't think of anywhere she's been to be exposed to asbestos. Ultimately we'll never know where the asbestos came from.
The NHS and GP has been absolutely top notch.
It's all v v sh*t.

I worked at the Road Transport Depot for Notts area near J28 M1 (it’s now a MacArthur Glenn Designer Outlet shopping centre) some of the pics I’ve already put up are in the yard there.
Heres some more, (although not vehicles per say, in fact one is yours truly as a young lad) but they are of the garage & yard on the very last day of British Coal ownership before we all got sent up the road. I took a camera to work that day knowing it was so. They aren’t the best as they are pics of pics, but you get the idea
Thanks again. What a handsome young man, bet you couldn't keep those Sutton lasses away from those luscious locks🤣
I lived near Mansfield (Crown Farm) Colliery. Dad worked at Clipo (Clipstone). I left school in 1986. Dad made a half hearted effort to ask me if I wanted to try and get an apprenticeship at the pit. Never sure why he raised it, he truly hated working underground. Well the writing was on the wall for coal mining by then and I declined. The old man took redundancy just before RJB took over. The mine itself limped on til 2003.

Thanks for posting all these. I grew up in a mining area - our house was 2 streets away from the pit (but not the one my dad worked at). Those that would have been in use in the 70s & 80s bring my childhood memories flooding back.

Fucking shite modern fuel. The can I bought for mower, pressure washer etc towards the end of September is no longer flammable.
Yes it's been in the shed which gets bloody hot when it's sunny, but even so...
Of course I only came to this conclusion after spending over an hour trying to get the bloody pressure washer started. Fresh fuel, first pull.
Too late to actually do what I'd set out to buy then so all I've achieved is getting myself slightly damp and pissing off my back. Maybe tomorrow.
I put a glug of fuel stabiliser in anything I'm not using immediately. Had both petrol and diesel be fine for a year. I write on the can the date the stabiliser was added. It gets bloody hot in my garage too.
But I might try Aspen/ other alcolyte petrol as well.

FTP - 1. Doblo - dead 7 year old battery.
Breakdown - 1. Sirion exhaust fell off, original at 16 years old.
I can live with that after crashing the Doblo in Nov '22 and 3 weeks later it's cambelt snapping.
Edit: FTP 2. Another battery this time on the Kawasaki ER6-F. Only shock was the £63 cost of a battery that is the same size as a tin of beans.

Doblo battery died. Available locally only no brand rubbish or over priced quality one. Ordered from Amazon expecting next day delivery. Next day no email saying on way. Checked and delivery is 8 days away. Bugger. Ordered one from Tanya Batteries. Thinks I'll cancel Amazon order but computer says no.
Both arrive yesterday and Tanya one fitted today so a happily starting Doblo.
Tried to do an online Amazon return but whatever option chosen I only get "return not eligible". Phone up and Amazon complete refund straight away. Ask how I return the item, you don't need to Mr auntiemaryscanary. Are you 100% sure ask I? Foreign call centre person actually laughs!
AS special discount price only £75.85, collection only

My grandparents house had a back boiler- I suspect it’s still there.
We've still got one! Fully serviced, in daily use. It was installed in 2001 so modern (!), think installation of new gas back boilers was outlawed in 2003.
