Spoiler alert... turbo replacement was a success.😁

Been pootling about since Monday but today managed 50 miles into work without incident. Even the cruise worked and the new thermostat means the heaters toasty.
Slight smell of piss, but I guess it was a taxi - the stories those rear seats could tell....

Nearly back together. Took off what I call the cleanside duct as I could see a split on the seam. Had this stupid ginormous resonator box on it and could not for the life of me get the bustard duct back into place. So I chopped off the box and epoxied a bit of plastic over the hole.

Naturally it glided back into place after it's trim job.
    Marigolds for the win.
Just the bottom arm bolt to manipulate back in and the wheels and I can try for a start!

Hi all, I'm the current owner of this Kelp Green mk4 ex taxi, ex 95 quid Peugeot,  ex Pat Earrings. On 230k. 2.0tdci.
Currently pausing going back into daily duty as it has an overboost issue. The vacuum circuit appears intact and holds a vacuum with my manual pump. The solenoid delivers about 25inhg vac but it steps up every 0.5second or so. Will cross check this on our s-max. With same vacuum the turbo actuator doesn't reach the end stop. Total movement on the actuator is only about 8mm. With some persuasion I can get the actuator to move to the end stop. Initial thought was soot in the vanes but also wondering about the actuator. May take the actuator off the lever and see how freely the vanes move.
Other than that, 2nd little tricky to engage ( understandable considering past life ) and a little knock from front end ( guessing drop link, top mount what have you).

    Battery tray temped up.

Transmission cooler lines in, that was a fight. Next up, see if it runs again.

So where did I get to on this ? It's been sitting unloved, but occasionally poked at in my garage. I did consider a BMW swap, and purchased an engine, but realistically I think that level of engineering is beyond me. When I removed the old engine, I realised the chassis was far worse and hence put in an order for a new one:

    Then got the body up:

Before realising I couldn't get the body high enough to clear the tyres without it hitting the garage roof.  I therefore present the patented meshking wheels - OSB3. I guarantee everyone will be rolling these next season.

    So here we are:

Now the simple task of stripping the chassis, rebuilding the bust spring can, and building the new one up. Whilst dealing with a new job. Easy huh ?

Keen to get more work done on the van since we can't go out. Many moons ago I bought some epoxy mastic converter to try and keep the chassis going a bit longer

    Let get this done

    quick whiz with the wirewheel...

Better. Mix up this stuff... Wearing a mask obvs..

Couldn't find my stirrers so a rawlplug will do. It says you can spray it, but I'm not sure how thin you would have to make it. It's seriously gloopy stuff. Covers well though, 400ml did the rear arms and most of the rear of the chassis

Turns out this isn't the original chassis - Rick has changed the chassis on this van before, saying that the original one was stuck to the body with mastic - they lifted the whole body up, unbolted, and the mastic brought the chassis with it. Impressive hold, but probably not the best fixings between body and chassis...
Now waiting for an ecas delivery, and for Rick to return to finish off the brakes.

    Fairy muff.
Me, I've always been around diesels, grew up on farms, apart from the 2CV all my parents cars were derv. I used to love the smell of fresh petrol, specially 4 star, then too much of my youth spent cleaning out carbs etc and now it just gives me a headache. I work with Diesel every day (engine test beds) and I've come to love the smell. Recently came in to contact with a scandinavian synthetic diesel (HVO) and it was as offensive as margerine. As for the sound, the growl of my Alfa 147 mjet JTD was addictive and 5 cyls have a lovely warble. Straight 6 dizzles can give a great burble almost v8 like.
Anyway, not to take your train off the track, totally accept that a Panda is not a great application for a diesel and that a 1.2 Fire is.  On that subject my parents have expressed interest in a facelift 500. Is the 1.2 still the best all rounder? They asked about the TwinAir but I heard they're not great (fuel or reliability)?
