  1. I still haven't figured out the cruise control on my C6. Must be a big Citroen trait.
  2. My folks had a Fiat Brava in a lovely metallic heather-type colour in the nineties. R reg, bought as an ex demo at 9 months old, SX spec iirc. I liked it, but I liked the Alfa the salesman took me on a drive in more.
  3. I don't want to block our street and it's extremely unlikely I would be able to do that without anyone seeing in any case. Next time someone does it I'll just ring the council parking team and they'll be straight out to issue a ticket. I wonder how much my council charges to get a white 'H' painted across the drive as a deterrent, as well.
  4. Yeah that's fine, we don't use the drive or need access to it anyway. Prick. Contrary to the note she put through my door in response to the note I left asking her not to do it again, she cannot "park where she fucking likes" because she has a Blue Badge. Let's see what the council has to say about that, eh?
  5. The last big, weird, gooey-suspended Citroen.
  6. Practical family motoring. ... They were just too wide to go through the ski hatch. Oh yeah, and the C6's parking sensors continue to take the piss out of me. One of the front ones was being French... it's behaving for now but one of the front corner ones has decided it fancies playing up instead. The brake related warnings came on again the other evening as well, when it was cold - I wonder if it's temperature related as it hasn't happened again otherwise.
  7. My mam spotted this in the Czech Republic. A beauty. (The car, not my mam, although she looks alright for her age.)
  8. Looks like the sort of thing you'd have been able to buy in Argentina or Brazil.
  9. That does not mean you will not be facing a big bill of your own soon after purchasing it, in my experience...
  10. "It's been fine since I bought it five weeks ago..." Yep, I know this feeling and I assume so does every other budget C6 owner on here. Mine is mostly just trolling me through its intermittently always-on front parking sensors. A good squirt of WD40 didn't sort it so I'm just gonna have to grit my teeth and enjoy* it as a bit of typical French character.
  11. Had a drive of it yesterday and fuck me, since they did the filter and cleared the code it's a totally different beast. SO much grunt from that engine. For a diesel it doesn't make the worst noise, either.
  12. 'Failure in their 30s' describes me terrifyingly well. Or did when I was driving around in shonky old quick Volvo estates. Now I'm in a really quite nice C6 and I feel like I've moved up in the world.
  13. It's back. It's had a four wheel alignment as well. Result - no warning lights and a far nicer drive. £560 all in. The mechanic thinks a full suspension fluid change should help the ride along but the garage won't touch the job, which is fair enough tbf.
  14. I always liked the way the pre facelift front and rear rubbing strips were stylistically integrated with the lights as well.
  15. So, it's at the garage and they've given me a ring. It's got a binding rear caliper, needing a new one plus a pad and a disc, and the fuel filter needs to be changed. The other faults are intermittent and can be cleared. Including a glow plug issue - apparently they're an absolute pain to change, but they're okay for now and can be left in situ. £526 all in, presumably because the fuel filter is a prick to change (it's not the one on top of the engine but the one buried somewhere nearer the tank). Ah well. Eet ees what eet ees.
  16. That's not usually an impediment to a big old Citroen being a jerk, though.
  17. Current state of play:- - The front parking sensors are constant at low/no speed - water ingress suspected, WD40 will be applied - The suspension isn't floaty enough - suspected bushes as the spheres are all fine and not leaking fluid, garage can investigate when it goes in on Friday - The ABS/TC/handbrake lights are off for now and the handbrake, after a short spell refusing to work, is working again - The driver's side rear brake disc was glowing red and radiating extreme heat after a 15 minute drive home the other night - maybe something is stuck or dragging? Garage can investigate - EML on again - fuel filter to be changed In spite of all of this, I still love it. It was a truly lovely way to drive to Leeds and back the other day. My employer's deputy CEO was suitably impressed when I gave him a lift to a site visit the other day, as well.
  18. What are you looking to exchange for it? I reckon you should go for it, they aren't that scary. They're complicated but not impossible to live with really, the engines and gearboxes are solid and the suspension is reliable. Join the waftiness club.
