  1. So, I've got a buyer sorted for my XC70. A nice American chap who's moved to Glasgow and had to sell his XC70 when he did. He's a mechanic, so has no problem with sorting the bad bits of mine and making it into a properly decent example. Sorted. He's coming to get the car when he's paid at the end of the month, which gives me time to line up my next chod. Plenty time to go look at stuff locally and test drive it, or else see what comes up on here. Or at least, that was the plan. Until I clapped my eyes on this on Gumtree. He'll take a deposit now, MOT it and let me have it at the end of the month. I'm extremely excited and also quite a bit terrified, given the last example on here decided to set itself on fire.
  2. It doesn't even have a sticker on the back saying "ESCORT". Beauty.
  3. It's big, it's blue, it's 4 wheel drive and it's very cheap , but it's tatty and it needs a steering rack. I'm driving it at the moment and don't really have the time or wherewithal to get it sorted, so I'm just gonna sell to someone who can.
  4. My Volvo is up for sale now. What I should buy:- another diesel Volvo estate that's nearby. What I will actually buy:- a V6 petrol French coupé that's 100s of miles away. If there's any way of it being transported closer to me, anyway.
  5. Can we please organise a North East shiters meet ASAP?!
  6. There's gonna be a strong market for those when they're flogged off after the cops are done with them, you'd think. Proper collector's items.
  7. So lazy I didn't even spot it, it was a mate in Dublin.
  8. Strongly agree. My 850 was honestly the easiest car I've ever had to park. Loads of glass, could see every edge of the car from the driving seat. My current V70 is also a doddle now I'm used to it (less glass and a sloping front edge).
  9. LNA and LNE, making two French ladies' names. Cute.
  10. R5/Clio campus. Presumably aimed square at the student market.
  11. I have a special edition. One of these:- It's a Volvo XC70 Ocean Race. Named after... an ocean race. You get fancy blue paint, matching blue interior trim on the dash and doors, Ocean Race kickplates and door badges, blue stitching on the seats, and silver rubbing strips and roof rails on the outside. Otherwise, the spec is the same as any old regular XC70. Came in D, D5 and T5 flavours, in SE and SE Lux specs. Mine is a D and not an SE Lux, which means it has an electric and heated driver's seat but a manual unheated passenger one.
  12. To be fair to Ford, the Popular trim levels were actually popular!
  13. Yours for just $125,000! https://www.dragoneclassic.com/inventory/p/1977-ford-ghia-megastar-concept
  14. The UK plate on that is rather exciting, to say the least.
  15. The newer one looks massive next to mine.
  16. Has a facelift ever done a better job of improving the look of a car than this? Maybe the 166.
  17. I didn't even know they did the 800 coupes in diesel flavour. Iiiinteresting.
  18. Echo this for my XC70, especially the turning circle. First time I had to get it out of a parking space was an eye opener. Barge like driving experience but so very, very comfortable.
  19. Stuff that I ought to fix on the car I've just bought:- - passenger wing mirror doesn't work - a little bit of play in the steering rack - brakes squeak - radio inoperative - key in a bad way - parking sensors don't work - various broken bits of trim - cupholder inside is broken In reality I'll fix the radio, buff the lights, take the key to Timpsons and ignore the rest.
  20. The boot opens fine after all. Things are already looking up.
