Been after one of these for ages, like the condition, you can see it’s been enjoyed but cared for. But sadly missing the pipes. Easily remedied though with some 15mm copper pipe left over. 

I agree, I sold mine to buy a 2005 5VY R1, which was by far the best looking Japanese bike ever but I have to admit the zx9 was a better all rounder apart from the brakes.
 

lol i remember my mate Greg buying that in ooh, 1980 thereabouts - i think it was billed as being on "puke splattered vinyl," which was yellow w/ red blotches or something similar - we marvelled at it in awe and wonder

Bloody solid real world sports bike they were . A mate had one and got GT Motorcycles to send up the jetting on the dyno . It made 143hp at the rear wheel and the fuelling was like silk . Grunt everywhere . I loved it .

me 9 rolled around to 91k this month and it's started ailing slightly - an intermittent clacking noise when lugging around in second. Is it a CCT? A piece of clutch getting flicked around? Or something yet more sinister? Whatever it is, the bike sounds lovely at idle, suggesting it's a gearbox and/or clutch thing.

I bought it in 2017 for £1800 w/ 18k on it. It did need a bit of work inc. a re-shimming, fork oil, some replaced perished pipes and hoses (which saw me stranded in South Dalton one night). But it was soon sorted and I set about piling the miles on in earnest. Lovely bikes. Fast, handle okay (esp. on fresh tyres), and they're roomy, comfy and with a decent suspension set up can be pretty damn plush. Going to have to retire it though, I reckon.

 
Ps those six pot tokicos went this spring (the photo's from last year), and got replaced w/ 4 pot nissins (Bandit 12 callipers bolt straight on!!) - improved the anchorage by about 80% - should've done it much earlier
