Looks like an artizan barista or pizza bar owner got creative with gaffer tape and a welder.

So quick update: Volvo is serviced and flying. Mondeo has new rear drop links after the originals broke. Pug still had oil leak. Wifey complains that it lacks grip, its always understeering. When i test it by trying to get it to understeer and break grip it performs very well... Oh and the Mondeo now has a new reg number (actually it's old reg number) after i roffled the previous plate ... -
You need three bagpipes to get two of them, it's an ancient haggis hunter's secret.
-
Wife: have you been away all week, up to Scotland in the Volvo, gallivanting around eating haggis, drinking whisky and playing bagpipes? Me: of course not dear, I promised I wouldn't do that again. I already told you, I've been having an affair all week with Emma from accounts, honest! Wife: (getting angry) I called your accounts office, there is no Emma! Open the boot! Me: really, there's no need for that, you probably got the wrong department... Wife: (very angry) Open it! Me: ok... Wife: ... Me: Oh oh, busted. I can explain...

For Bub and for anyone else, i have a Mondeo that's basically a glamping pod on wheels, I can take my Volvo and kip under a tarp or a tent if the weather is foul. Anyone needing the Glampeo just meet me at mine, about an hour from Sunny Jims. -

I got a tent... -
Something like a garden umbrella or parasol. Either way for sticking in the hole of a garden table and sitting under it eating barbecue and sipping a tipple.
-
Can a saloon be used as a good load lugger? If its a Volvo 740 then yes.
-
What a beautiful garden!

I agree, it's just that you can put a price on 97 octane petrol. In our house we consider 45mpg to be pretty poor, we are both achieving that in our respective modern shitboxes so the estimated 25mpg of the Volvo isn't really affordable right now. However that's not the car's fault, this car was designed and built in the Cold War so modern fuel prices were not a consideration. As for our Volvos, they totally should meet! I can't wait to see yours, I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

I had the 2.5 6 cylinder petrol one of these, my first BMW, I get it. I entirely agree, it's direct and well weighed, from the switches, stalks and door shut to the steering and handling. Everything is purposeful and well designed. No car is perfect but this is pretty dam good. I'd love to try newer BMWs just to see how they've improved, and if I had another I'd have a 5 series diesel estate just for the space. The 3 series e46 estate is great but I have a Mondeo and very little compares with the boot of a Mondeo, only older Volvos, Granadas and Omegas and newer Passats and 5 serieses.

Not only is it a great daily but its a handsome beast, in my humble opinion. Only drawback is that in today's geopolitical climate its not so cheap to run.
