Andy F got a reaction from AnnoyingPentium in T4 Caravelle adventures and other fleet news Xantia, Xsara Picasso the Roffle CLK and a T25 camper
Also I got the camper running again, gave it a good clean and a good look over. Maybe my outlook has improved but the jobs somehow seem achievable whereas a year a go it felt insurmountable and like a bit of a weight on my shoulders.
Spannering time has been severely limited with the increase in performing work with a(nother) new band. Not sure if there's a place to share our progress on here or even if there's any appetite for it but it has been a busy summer playing lots of festivals. We have started to be rebooked for the same festivals next year but main stage and an improved fee! Very exciting for me anyway!

Andy F reacted to eifion in I'm Too C6-y for My Cars - Eifion's Bad French Motors
It's about time I started a thread for my various bad cars, if only as something to look back at in years to come when they've driven me to destitution. I'll start with the C6.
It's been fine since I bought it five weeks ago but today it decided to do something odd. After a fifty-odd mile drive out we parked it in a Tesco car park and saw the thing that every hydraulic Citroen owner dreads: a dark line following behind the car. Immediate thoughts turned to a hyraulic pipe failure but it was water not LHS. As it was cold it didn't seem to have come from the coolant system and the level in the tank was still OK, but a fair amount was dripping from underneath the car.
We drove home carefully keeping an eye out for warning lights but it seemed to be fine. The only thing I think it could be is water not draining properly from the windscreen after I washed it, but it was a good couple of hours since I'd done that so I'm still baffled as to what it could be.

Here it is, an actual C6 base model.

We need photos of the car, it's hard to keep track of all the C6s lately!

Quick post holiday update. T4, now named Bertie the Big Blue Bus, has just finished a holiday run. From Gloucester to Woolacombe for a week (lots of running around to the beach) and then onto Crealy theme park in South Devon and home of Sooty and Sweep for 3 more nights. I idea it was still a thing , definitely an education for my children.Absolutely brilliant, just over half a tank of used diesel too which I thought was very impressive for the whole 450ish mile round trip.
Storm Betty was eventful on an exposed Devon coastline near Ilfracombe and we ended up farming the kids off to my parents caravan as they'd joined us for a couple of days and we slept in the T4. It was a real novelty not having to take a trailer and a roof box as in a normal car. I'm not sure I got any photos of it loaded up, but we certainly used most of the available space! Surf bus yo!
I've just finished cleaning it, but I must get a new Karcher hose for my pressure washer so I can clean the under side and under seal it again before the winter.
It uses significantly less fuel than the CLK, and the Xantia is now off the road as it just needs more doing to it and is completely rotten now sadly. I'm looking at getting either a cheap electric or a fast and frugal small diesel to replace the CLK and Xantia with now we have the T4 for lugging stuff around. Any suggestions welcome, thinking Civic, Audi A3 or something a bit interesting! This weekend my band are playing at 2 festivals (Main stage at Witcombe, exciting!) So it will be full of trumpet, drum kit, amps, guitars and keyboards tomorrow. Such a useful and likeable thing!

With many, many thanks to @doug this beauty arrived bang on time this morning. Having dropped Doug off at the train station the heavens well and truly opened so this is as far as I've got. To be continued...

Andy F reacted to Talbot in Tropes you see on the road
The skinflint. Usually seen driving an older half-decent car that they bought for penuts, and often mention to people that it's "not bad for £xxx". Rarely washed, some small minor damage that they can't be arsed sorting out. Often running on Veg oil or some other cheapo fuel.
oh... hang on...

Andy F reacted to purplebargeken in The Xantia of Not Many Shitters
Well, Fan has delivered the Xantia to my doorstep as promised. A brief natter, some liquid refreshment and he was dropped off at the local station to aid the return home via the Megabus from Liverpool. A thoroughly decent chap. Hope you can have a little peek at Liverpool if you have the time. Chod speed Sir.
Once again a huge thank you to all the Shitters involved in the movement, resurrection, parts providing, MOTing and advice giving aspects of this whole event. I doff my Internet hat and again offer you all a huge thank you. I will be messaging the PO shortly to let him know his car has arrived and is being put into use.
I plan to give it a bit of a valeting over the next few days, it's not like I am short of potions and lotions...
A short jaunt to the station provided me with an idea as to how well it drives. What a nice experience. Its not quite as wafty as the C5 but hey, it's just fab anyway. In the real world who would notice.
Piccies to follow.

Andy F reacted to straightSix in Man maths reassurance required... Or is sense kicking in?
I was in the exact same boat, spec B with the pants down tax. Got it mid 2019 so only ended up doing about 3k miles for that £600. Whereas my manager paid no tax to do 30k a year in his diesel Kia.
Think I sold it for a TVR Chimaera which wasn't exactly sensible either but then went all boring with a diesel Civic and hated every second
Not sure what the moral of any of that is tbh

Maybe today.......
Our Roffle in heaven
Hallowed be thy game.
Thy car keys come, your parts bill be done
On paper as it was quoted.
Give us our daily fix, forgive us our shite purchases
AS we forgive those who BINI against us
Lead us into temptation of moar chod buying
Deliver us moar diesel.
For the power and glory are ours now and forever.
Our MEMS (for the MGF bretheren).
