  1. We got the V5 from DVLA, it states minibus so I guess it's 50,60, 70 Which is cool, we've used it quite a lot. On the last day of school we decided to surprise the kids with a visit to Weston Super Mare for a run around, play and some tea. We came back that evening, kids asleep, van went well, good time had by all and the Van behaved beautifully. I then used it to travel to a festival in Devon with my band Dub Catalyst (no I'm not a Volkswagen exhaust specialist) and again the van was superb taking lots of members of the band and gear. Check us out on Facebook/ Instagram if you like, Album will be out on Spotify imminently. *Shameless plug over* Van life was treating us very well until this morning when I moved it to get the bins out and realised the gear selector was very vague. Unfortunately I didn't realise reverse had been left behind along with 1st, 2nd and 5th Until I was facing into the trees opposite our house and I could not go backwards. T4s are very heavy to push back up a hill on your own. I had a poke around and couldn't see anything obvious and looking through the service history made it worse as it looked like it had new bushes on the gear selector. However, looking at the van again revealed that while many bushes had been changed (2019) this one clearly hadn't! New one ordered and it should be here tomorrow first thing. I feel very relieved it decided to go wrong at home and not miles away! Great bus, we are really enjoying having it around! Next on the shopping list slidey windows for the back.
  2. That's great thank you. I will await the V5 from Swansea and check then. For now I will drive slowly and save fuel!
  3. Thank you so much @doug and @BorniteIdentity. It's definitely a really good buy, unbelievably tidy and very well cared for. The service history has made for some epic reading this evening, it rivals my Xantia for care and attention received. I will endeavour to keep on top of all maintenance and see how many miles we can get out of it! The French connection would explain parts of the service history being in French. I google translated it and hope to see the words le cam belt but to now avail. But all is clear and I can relax into ownership now.
  4. Cam belts before Camber for me 🤣 *Closes tabs for visors and bonnet bras*
  5. To be honest I also hadn't heard of polytron or the serum you speak of! Luckily it's barely stopped raining so it looks fine ATM 🤣🤣 One more question for @dougor any other previous owner, has it had the cam belts changed recently?
  6. Yes, I also ended up with LV. I hope your train journey went smoothly and wasn't too complicated or interrupted by weather? If there's one thing for certain we will definitely use the full interior space! Photos will be posted for proof when it happens. I'm definitely falling out with Direct line too. Definitely, there isn't much to do to smarten it up but that's definitely on the list! It is nice to have an unmolested example that will be used exactly as intended. Really looking to getting out there and moving stuff around! 🤣🤣
  7. Just realised I've put this in the wrong section mods @brownnova? Please could you move it to the main forum. Thanks
  8. I spent the time sheltering from the rain sorting the tax and insurance so we could go on a family adventure. Whole family approval has been achieved and the grandparents have been for a joy ride too. It has clearly been very well looked after and the way it drives belies it's age and mileage. A real credit to it's previous owners. Couple of questions, Direct line wouldn't insure it due to being classed as minibus, got insurance elsewhere. But that got me wondering, is it subject to mini bus, van or car speed limits? I've spent time on the gov.ul website and am actually now a bit less sure than I was. I'm away next weekend with my band in Devon (Yarty Party festival if anyone's going?) So I think I'll take it with an air bed in the back rather than setting up a tent. It will definitely be a very useful addition. I will be moving the Xantia estate and CLK on in the next month or two, so will sort some adverts out for those at some point. With the caravelle as back up I now plan to get a small and frugal daily maybe electric.
  9. With many, many thanks to @doug this beauty arrived bang on time this morning. Having dropped Doug off at the train station the heavens well and truly opened so this is as far as I've got. To be continued...
  10. This was just in the motion potion station near Chipping Campden. I particularly enjoyed the Euro 6 badge glued to the door above the door handle
  11. Yes, of course you have first dibs! PM also sent
  12. Been a while so thought I'd update this. The clk has been happily sharing duties with the Xantia. I've done a few little bits and pieces (audio and a bit of body work) to it but I'm mainly looking out for a new drivers wing and boot lid for it to tidy it up. It's providing entertaining if thirsty transport and has made me realise how happy a convertible makes me. The kids love it and I enjoy driving it. Jobs to do Replace front wing and boot lid Find where the front suspension clonk is coming from as it's definitely got more noticeable over the last couple of weeks, it's not as noisy as the wheel bearing has suddenly got on the Xantia though! Its fairly likely that a 7 or 8 seater will be replacing the Xantia and some sort of EV will replace the clk at some point, but for now I'm content to pootle around in them both. When the time comes there will be another roffle
  13. If I needed a car tomorrow, this is absolutely what I'd buy. If I can ignore the Low cost, High Liability thread for long enough 🤣🤣
  14. Boring Citroen fan alert, but my favourite feature has always been the self levelling of the ride height and automatic boosting of the rear brakes on LHM only Citroens. Mine is always full of PA and instruments or wood for burning. I never get bored of feeling it rise before a journey. Also auto wipers. I didn't realise how much I miss them in CLK. The Xantias just get on with it and seem to wipe whenever I would myself. The CLK has a single wiper, which never fails to make me smile because saddo.
  15. 306 for me. in about 2001 (I think) I was doing some school work experience for Warner's Peugeot. We had in a new 306 HDi and it seemed like a really modern rocket ship compared to the Metros and Montegos we had at home! Had a soft spot for them ever since and owned 3 brilliant examples. Just before Peugeot lost it's way for a bit!
  16. There is something so right about a 306. We had an early 1.6, a late 1.4 petrol and a late 2.0HDi. we loved them. Incredible how much space is inside for how compact the my are. Handling is properly sweet too. We have since had Xsara Picassos which are based on the 396, but obviously no where near as fun! Just the one photo, turns out I don't photograph my wife's cars

    End of shite?

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3287314464855540/ Just seen this, 306, tidy and rare spec but surely not worth £2500! Local to me too. Scary. I will need to replace the Xantia this summer, and other than twice (a C5 and a C8 both years and years ago when they were quite new) I've never spend more than a grand. Looks like I'm going to have to dig a bit deeper or go electric with a lease.
  18. They should make all new cars use points ignition and need regular greasing of suspension and steering parts. That way they wouldn't work without some attention every week. The general public would have no excuse not to notice bald tyres then. It would keep the unmaintained cars off the road 😂😂
  19. Thank you for sharing! I should have been asleep an hour ago. We've got Ofsted in school tomorrow too 😂😂
  20. Much thanks to @gm I have managed to get the right cable into the CLK so I can have my banging choonz. It was the funny shaped connector. Added to one of these And away we went. I then gave the Merc a celebratory wash and will get some leather cleaner on my next journey out. Any particular brand of leather feed recommended on here? I've never had leather anything (I prefer pvc...😂😂) so all new to me.
  21. CLK back from the exhaust doctors. So much quieter and seems a bit faster too. Didn't get to use it much as we went up to Sutton Coldfield for family present swap/ gathering/feast. As we are a family of 5 the Xantia got the short straw and wafted us there and back cheaply and quietly. Always a joy to do a late night motorway journey in that, but the need for a 7/8/9 seater is getting more difficult to ignore. I think my ideal line up now would be a cheap ev for running around my schools in the week (around 100 miles per day) and something like an i800 or the big Citroen Spacetourer for gigging, holidays, ferrying children and their friends around etc. Which would render the CLk, the Xantia and probably the T25 camper a bit redundant. Xantia is currently full of crap from the Christmas fair at the kids school and empty of fuel, so the CLk will get an outing to Chipping Campden tomorrow for work.

    Peak Car.

Another vote for late 90s early 00s stuff. I've had xantias for about 15 years now. I've taken a lot of stuff to a lot of places in supreme comfort at over 50mpg and without a single FTP. Mine is getting quite tired (and very rusty!) now but I'm struggling to know what to replace it with! It doesn't have an easy life blasting around the Cotswolds on rubbish roads full of stuff, but it just keeps on going!
  23. Perfect, I've ordered the first one, fingers crossed I can listen to choonz of my own choice soon. Thank you @gm Exhaust work is finished, I can't pick it up until tomorrow morning due to work commitments today, but it's done and has been suitably sorted to ensure quiet enough cruising to hear the aforementioned choonz. I won't be using it for work for a few days due to lugging huge amounts of PA, amplifiers and instruments around unfortunately!
  24. Thanks, hadn't thought of getting an online manual, will check what model it is and give it a go! It would be nice to have my music while shivering down the road. Nice one @gm there was a circular plug like that, what connection was on the end of yours? Was that the D shaped one? Where the red and white phono leads to do with it? Thanks
