Not had half the opportunity to do anything like I thought I would today as my mom had a list of pressing issues. I didn’t have the jump leads with me though, forgot those.
I threw the battery back on it as I thought maybe a wiggle of the gear stick would result in life. It didn’t.
But…
The light for saying what gear it’s in is temperamental. I had put it in park but there was no light. Wiggled it and the light came on, then off etc. I think I am going to take this out and clean it properly.
I did also hear a click from the engine bay.

10k miles in on the S203 after 8 months
Now on 184k
In that time it's had:-
Front & Rear Drop links and ARB bushes
Front tyres (Toyo Proxes)
Rear Springs
Inner & Outer rack ends
Front o/s lower arm
Starter motor
Filters & oil
Still needs new shocks and rear tyres shortly
Currently doing Swansea and back every week (340 miles)
So it's cost a few quid (about £900) but it's a comfortable place to be, does around 40mpg and most of those 10k have been for work on 45p mile so no complaints, only grumble is some moron delivery driver bent up the wing for me about a month after I got it

Slk in for MOT today, then got a few little jobs to do and it'll be up for sale, come to the conclusion it's not really me and after two years on the fleet since Dad gave it to us it's time to move it on and focus on the van conversion.

A box from Autodoc finally turned up on Thursday. So Friday night I started stripping down the rear suspension on Mrs Fl's Mazda 3, the shock came out easy enough, but much grumbling ensued and the spring refused to come out.
Fast forward to this morning and the spring was liberated after cutting a droplink off.
While I was in there liberal amounts of Bilt Hamber Dynax UB was applied (cos Mazda) but much more grumbling ensued trying to get the new spring in, of course in the Autodoc tutorial vid it was dead easy, no need to compress the spring just get a pry bar and pop it in, some ingenuity later it was in having used spring compressors which gave me the fear.
Some bushes looked suspect and having ordered a full rear set the bar was whipped off, cleaned up and over to BIL's to use his homebuilt press which did the job perfectly, he even rust protected and sprayed it up for me, reassembly from here on was fine. The other shock and Dynaxing the other side will have to wait for another day.
Feeling happy with my achievements after having wondered many times why i started and didn't put it into the garage.

Bank holiday 2CV tinkering:
The raspy sound was coming from the cross box silencer. The hole was nicely masked from sight by the fact that it’s right under the gearbox…
Do love the ease of access on these. Old crossbox removed and yeah… bit of an issue….
A sizeable hole, which was where one of the support hooks was supposed to be.
Incredibly, in the big box of spares which came with the two project 2CVs was a brand new one!
Aside from being a bit jiggly to get under the chassis it went on fine, and even better the noisiness and popping was cured. Best of all… it was a free fix!
