  1. also Just found this facebook post just now by one of the sons https://www.facebook.com/jonpwebb/posts/pfbid02a5GWfUsiX9mAiKufDcfmP1PTgDN9gNWqHP6iwCLtfRSWu6fY6bS5FSQSWGhM3X1El it was nice to hear that the sons themselves knew of the significance of TJN and their mother even if the museum did not. one thing I particularly like from it is the close up of TJN's last Tax disc something I noticed in a picture Stuart sent me a while back and something I had always wondered about, with TJN being the very last ministry machine and coming off the road so late into 2004 (14th October 2004), did she have on 05 tax disc, and indeed she did! I have not come across any other Ministry machine that does otherwise a few showing tax due 2004 but none showing 2005 like TJN BTW one fun thing in REV's history, is over the years, she has had 2 stablemates, between 1985-2000 that was TJN352R and then from 2003-2021, she lived with OPH868R, @Mrs6C's Model 70 and the fun thing about both those Model 70's TJN352R and OPH868R, is they both have the more unusual/rare floor mounted lever handbrake setup, funny how coincidences like that happen
  2. and in REV news, the Kingpin set was posted off to @Saabnut yesterday and should hopefully be with him before not too long, I sent it using the quickest option available Saabnut also very kindly gave me a phone call yesterday to discuss the initial report/impressions so to speak and it sounds like Duncan his Mechanic has gotten over the initial fright of "WTF are these controls" and like most people who have the opportunity to actually spend some time with a Model 70, is now finding it quite enjoyable bombing around the yard in REV now current plan going forward is get the kingpin changed, fettle the doors so they open and close smoothly, clean up some fuzzy connections under the dashboard and then bomb around the local lanes see how she performs and tweak/fix accordingly
  3. my gripe is a general one, that even the museum themselves dont know, they dont know why they have that Invacar and I find it sad history has been lost like that, especially with such a major museum like that case in point they did a bigger article on it themselves https://www.transport-museum.com/news/1534/brothers-reunited-with-late-mums-beloved-trike-at-coventry-transport-museum and nary a mention of the significance TJN itself holds.... I do like this photo that was posted on twitter tho I believe that would be Marion and Dennis! I have some 1950's pictures of them courtesy of Stuart, but I believe they are earmarked for the BigBook(TM) but anyone with a copy of the small-book will already have one of the pictures, the Invacar Mk8 bearing the registration mark, 85FTW, the lady standing in front of it, thats Marion
  4. in non-REV news, Stuart over the last few days set aside a few days to to start the restoration on this Argson and he certainly was not hanging about! already on 3 wheels I find it mighty impressive given it was literally still in its stripped component form just a few days ago!
  5. Jesus fucking Christ! the amount of shit that you cop, is just not fucking fair you are a seriously decent bloke, and it enrages me just how much crap you cop, I know sadly that this is just the tip of the ice burg, for example I remember the time you got a word from a copper in a police car for "anti social behaviour" because you happened to be downshifting in the camper van on approach to a roundabout, you know as anyone would do when slowing down for a hazard! and then when the same police for example have no interest, in doing anything about the abuse that I know you have had from the general population around there it just fucking pisses me off it frustrates me also, because I wish I could do something for you, somehow make it better, magically get you out of there you know how they move entire buildings? can we just move your house to the FoD? I think @Six-cylinder would be greatful to have you onsite 247! (or @Saabnut's back yard!)
  6. Well I guess that's one way to dodge speeding fines and ULEZ charges... would be easy pickings for any properly clued up police officer or member of public to report it really should have a temporary import Q plate https://www.gov.uk/importing-vehicles-into-the-uk/temporary-imports
  7. Awesome thanks I have forwarded it onto Stuart the front number plate on the Rover P4 is almost certainly a replacement plate as you say, but I am almost positive its a late 1960's early 1970's replacement, rather then a modern replacement one of the things that interest me in it so much is its identical in style in the number plates AC used on all their Invalid vehicles from at least the Mid 1960's to 1st of January 1973 note the same unique style of 5 for example, and the boarder style is the same, which you can better see on GPG721K which thankfully retains its original number plates but neither me nor stuart has been able to figure out who the actual manufactuer of these plates where we know all the number plate details for Invacar, Hills from 1947 to mid-1967 then from mid 1967-1st Jan 1973, Tippers pressed plates no boarder, then 1st of Jan 1973 onwards, Tippers Retro-reflective with sharp corner boarders and we know the details for AC's from the 1st of January 1973 onwards, Ace pressed plates with rounded corner boarders, but we dont know what they used pre 1st Jan 1973 I mean we know what it *looks like* but who actually made them etc remains a mystery! for reference Tippers, Invacar plate and, ace, AC plate (also for @ETCHY to show just how much nuance and fine detail differences there where in old number plates back in the day, note the difference in the font of the digits as well las application and style of serif for example between the digits and plates)
  8. I didn't realise such a garage/place like that still exists/survives in Central London, I wonder what they might make of the words "Steyr Puch"....
  9. you dont happen to still have the originals of these photos do you? I am talking to Stuart about various matters, Stanley Argsons and number plates as you do, and he said to me and I said back: so thats what im doing I figured if the orignal photos could be uploaded to an external hosting site that does not utterly crunch photos like Autoshite itself does, it might allow us (Stuart) to zoom in and oggle the fine details or you can zoom in yourself and upload em here, whichever you think is best I just wrote those plates off as modern reproductions, but I do note the font is the proper full size which modern cheap repos rarely are so thats what Stuarts trying to figure out (PS: speaking of Rover number plates did you manage to get measurements of the P4's front AC Model 70 style number plate before it sold?)
  10. A699GFH comes back as Pink, I'd like to think its the form the Chameleon circuit in @Amelia's TARDIS took when it first landed on earth others of quick note: A691GFH did not last very long at all! A697GFH comes back as diesel and A693GFH is beige it seems A667GFH-A706GFH are all Lonsdales (I have not looked up every single one mind, just applied DVLA bashing skills to find the start and end of the block of what looks like about 40 cars )
  11. well this is all a bit surreal, all this activity on REV and suddenly TJN gets in on the fray! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cw0zj8pxdg8o the reason this is surreal is because, REV's 2nd Owner was Dennis Webb he owned REV between 1985 and 2000, Dennis Webb being Marion's husband and I presume their father. I wonder if the sons are aware not only does their Mum's Invacar survive, so does their Dads! I especially like this line as its one of the little things that directly connect REV and TJN so its fun to see it called out this is REV's dashboard setup and here is TJN's, where you can just make out the same clock tis not the first time I noticed it either I did ask Stuart a while back if he knew any details about Marion's sons, as while Stuart has quite the file on Marion and TJN (he and Marion where good friends, as Marion was very much involved with the trikes and happy to help stuart with his research and all that) his file on REV (from before I owned it) is very barren, so I was hoping maybe through the sons I could see if they happened to have a picture of Dennis with REV or even better yet TJN and REV together but alas he only ever spoke with Marion and never got in contact with the sons this line makes me a bit sad tho, how history has been sanitised, TJN was/is a very significant Invacar, in that it was THE very last Invalid Vehicle in Ministry service and thus it was never at risk at being scrapped it was always earmarked for preservation because of its historical importance as the very last car, and its sad to hear no mention of this fact (and also of the fact of course Marion was the very last Ministry user) its the whole reason TJN survives today, but it seems sadly outside of this thread that fact has been lost to time despite my best effort to notify them about it! https://twitter.com/LIGHTBULBFUN/status/1133298220384292864 https://twitter.com/LIGHTBULBFUN/status/1133377524971515904 a more detailed/personal history of TJN and REV can be had from Marion herself by way of a letter she penned to Stuart back in 2006 or so IIRC REV's original foot control scheme is one of those things I always wondered about does it mean she had foot pedals like a regular car, or when Marion says foot control does she literally mean *foot* control ie setup for someone with no arms at all, some sort of foot controlled steering plate for example the only possible clue I do have as to what REV might of originally been like with her first owner is a bit of rubber flooring missing and 3 screw holes in its place where something at one point in time must of been mounted but of note, is that regular Model 70 foot accelerator and brake pedals where generally always attached via the bulkhead not the floor, so I do wonder if REV may of been an actual *foot* controlled trike through n through? its one of REV's mysteries
  12. it has now! I got 3 of the kits, I mean REV has just the one kingpin, but just to be safe! looks like theres 2 bagged examples, 1 un-bagged example, which I notice has a bit of surface rust on some of the kingpin itself and the 2 shells, I dont know if thats fatal or not but I still have the 2 bagged examples which look pretty clean to my eye for what its worth I noticed the 2 circular, shells(?) are stamped "FGT 10DU12" with the "G" being in a square box I dont know if that means anything to anyone, but I thought i'd mention it (googling 10DU12 curiously does bring up similar looking parts)
  13. its very awesome to see REV on the move once more! closer to that light at the end of the tunnel! and very awesome to see she is "home" safe and sound I am really looking forward to seeing how things progress, I should have NOS Kingpins in before not too long now, and I will of course get 1 or 2 forwarded up to you ASAP I of course give many thanks and gratitude to first of all of course, @red5 for all the work he has done on REV over the past couple years, doing a not inconsiderable amount of work to help REV towards roadworthiness, hopefully this means for @Saabnut and Duncan, it will be an easy job carrying it across the finish line as they say! and I am sure Red5 is glad to see the back of REV at long last! and of course, I give many thanks to @Saabnut, that despite the reputation and all that sort of thing that, surrounds REV, for for being up for taking the fluorescent batten on from Red5, I did give Nick, plenty of opportunity to opt out, but he still insisted on REV on, even after I am sure all the Christmas alcohol had worn off! for that I am forever grateful! onwards and upwards as they say, and hopefully before not too long ill finally be able to hit the means streets of London in REV properly
  14. well when she was at @red5's, @catsinthewelder *did* have this idea of himself driving her at least part way back home what say you @catsinthewelder still game?
  15. Awesome! here starts the 3rd and hopefully final chapter in REV's story to roadworthiness! Chodspeed Moi Citroen Ami!
  16. little known fact is the British isles is an 8 bit integer/5 digit speedo, if you go far up north, you wrap-around back to the south
  17. awww, sadly AFAIK there are no Invalid vehicles of any kind booked into rustival, which I think is a shame in itself, I mean TWC pretty much kick-started @dollywobbler's Channel, and yet theres nary an Invacar present at his own event so if the trabant could not make it, I was hoping TPA might be able to
  18. hah very cool I wonder how that works exactly, is it part of the exciter circuit like how charging light dash bulb is in a normal car? does that mean if the tube fails or fails to strike for whatever reason, you dont get any charging? (or is a Routemaster alternator able to self excite?) or is it some other setup?
  19. Starter motor season? so, preemptively, how does one change the starter motor on a Routemaster?
  20. Amazing stuff,! seriously I mean that! now take it to Rustival to show it who's boss!
  21. could of also been parked on the pavement, somewhere I have/know of a picture of a Model 70 parked next to a shop on a wide high street pavement much like the above, but its currently eluding me, so you will have to make do with this Invacar Mk12 example instead
  22. I am low on credit atm so I have not checked for an exact date, but seeing how it still shows up on the MOT database is sadly generally a sign of a CoD (if it vanishes from both then that generally means a plate transfer, but if it only vanishes from the DVLA but not the MOT checker, that means a CoD, or the DVLA have voided the reg mark for some other reason)
  23. they dont have to believe you its right there on the DVLA website, if you want to just pull it up on their computer and show em (although thats me assuming they have basic reading and comprehension skills...) https://www.gov.uk/personalised-vehicle-registration-numbers/take-private-number-off
  24. nice not a shot I have seen before indeed nice and high rez too, I like it when you get a general street scene like this thats been scanned in well like that, lets you zoom in on all the details! although not quite far enough for the Model 70 sadly! the Model 70 could well of been parked at the bus stop, or even on the pavement, Invalid vehicles where generally given a free pass on such shenanigans I mean they did still have to comply with the RTA and highway code and all that, but back then people understood they a disabled persons mobility, so no one blinked twice at one being driven/parked somewhere normally only pedestrians would go (blocking a London Transport bus stop might get some Ire tho!)
