  1. If the geo figures happen to be the same as the Omega (could well be the case) I can supply an alternative set of figures which make the car handle much better when it has a few miles on the clock and settled suspension.

These figures were arrived at by Wheels in Motion (Chesham) owner, when the Omega owners forum was quite a big thing, quite a few years ago, and  gave him a lot of business.

  2. I already have my own three cars plus my sons Civic to look after which more than occupies my spare time.

The only reason to buy this would be to fix it up, if not too much work / time is involved, and then sell it on to make a few quid.

I suppose the main question is - how many quid am I likely to make from it, once it has a fresh MOT.

  3. This is 10 minutes away from me, and the ad has got me a bit excited. It needs ( a little ?) welding and a bit of attention to the brakes according to MOT fail sheet.

I can weld ( a bit) so not scared by that, as long as it doesnt turn out to be rotten as a pear, front to back.

Asking price is £450, but what Im clueless about is what it would realistically be worth with a fresh MOT ?

Probably need to spend not much money, but maybe a weekend of my time on it. It would be bought purely to fix up and sell on. Just depends what profit might be in it for me.

    All opinions welcome, cheers.

Make the most of it. And may I never work shifts again till I'm 102

Personally I love it. It sounds gruesome but its actually pretty cushy. 5pm to 8am Mon - fri.

7.30 to 7.30 (either nights or days) at weekends.

Unofficially we arent expected to stay awake doing those kind of hours, and arent actually expected to do much at all apart from keep an eye on things from time to time.

I often do five nights in a row (mon - fri) so 75 hours, and then have a week off after.

I did 13 in a row once, had three days off and then did another five. That was way too much and I wasnt really safe to drive to and from work, so wont ever do it again.

Ive been doing it for just over 15 years, and hope to keep doing it for another five and a half years until Im 70.

  5. Join the Vegatableoildiesel forum. There is a wealth of knowledge & experience there.

My setup was simple Kitchen sieve on top of a 25 micron bag filter. then through a 10 micron, then 5 micron bag filter.

Had to keep it simple as it was stored in the boot of the car and filtering done in an outbuilding at work.

I never found oil from any Chinese restaurant worth the bother. Always far to much fat in it to be worthwhile.

Indian restaurants usually much better, and curry smelling exhaust was a hoot at traffic lights.

  6. He has never been one to let facts get in the way of the point he wants to make. Either in his comedy, or " serious" programmes.

If Warren Mitchell was still alive he would probably sue him for plagiarism  of the " ironic , working class bigot" character.

  7. Spending my birthday doing a 12 hour shift. Doesnt really matter in the grand scheme of things as the wife hasnt been at all well (spent 7 hours at A&E with her yesterday) so she understandably hasnt even been able to buy a birthday card.

Not bothered as her health is of course far more important.

Cheered up though when my mate from Norn Irn sent me a big box of Tayto cheese & onion and then found inside it a framed photo of me in my Chevette HS from 1979.

Didnt even know he still had the photo.

  8. Early Boxsters. Need to be in nice condition though. Not a bit scruffy like mine.

V6 engined Omegas seem to be on the rise and will probably follow the Senator / Carlton in that regard.

Unlikely that my 200,000 mile example will be a good pension pot though.

Mercedes 190,s are on the up (even clean basic versions)  and will probably only keep going up.
