I found it. It attaches to the actual door, next to the handle. I was looking at the doorcard and getting confused instead of looking behind me at the door.

ohh what a fun and exciting weekend this has been!
like most collection capers this one started with a choochoo-mobile

got to the station where Zel picked me up for the weekend
where on saturday we headed out at 7:30AM to go pick up something up...
on the way I saw this magnificent* beast

    over the dartford crossing

which soon turned into Campervan rally stage

the finally we knew we where at the right place when this scene came into view

that's right we were collecting my Invacar Model 70  #alltheexcite!
im very pleased to say, that the seller decided to sell to me and the other person going half and half with me (Im not sure if that person has announced themselves as the buyer of the other Model 70 so ill let them do that if they wish to  )
after having a nice long chat with the seller about Invacars and stuff, paying for everything as well as doing the ownership change online, we disembarked to the FoD (the Man with the Van having left a while ago with my invacar for the FoD before we did, hence the invacar arriving first)
(I thought I had grabbed more pictures at the sellers place, but sadly I did not, but the other person going half and half with me did grab a few pictures thankfully  )
papping a Routemaster on the way

eventually we made it to the FoD where this scene greeted us

aka @Slowsilver finding out what understeer in an Invacar is like!

so yes this is My invacar Model 70! as you can probably tell im very excited about it all! a lot of time and effort has gone into finding one, and its finally paid off!

im very thankful to all those who have helped and supported  me along the way, especially to @Zelandeth for helping me out with the collection caper, and in general just being there for me especially when I really needed help with all the government BS im going through, many thanks to @egg @mrbenn  for the support and encouragement even when things were looking down or  turned a bit unpleasant, many thanks to the Person who went and half and half with me (ill edit this bit once said person reveals themself),  many thanks to the 2 people who donated to the go fund me thing @1970mgb setup, every little helps as they say! many thanks to Stuart Cyphus for helping me out with uncovering the mysteries of the Invalid carriage  and of course many thanks to Jean Hammond of the RUMCar collection for giving me the tip off/lead in the first place! and long may this thread continue  (Just because I now own one, does not mean this thread is going to be any less active! LOL)

this is also my first car, its been way too pleasing to say "yeah let me hop into my car and drive there"   (across the FoD in this case, to get Pizza Yummy!)
which resulted in this cool shot

im very happy with the condition of everything  it only needs just a bit of recommissioning work and then she should be fit to hit the road, I think I did pretty good here!
main legal things are just bulbs and tyres
but the brakes are a bit weak and could do with adjusting, and just as a safety precaution we plan to replace all the brake lines, and fuel lines
and also just give the carb a good clean out, and obviously a general service  (from what we understand REV451R was last on the road around 2003ish)
we already replaced the Air filter as we had that on and off a few times (because it it ran out of fuel mid hoon and sucked some crap into the carb blocking some jets, that and stale fuel not helping things which meant we lost idle for a little bit, but after I hopped back in, the idle returned  )
as the old one was a bit* fucked LOL as seen in this picture, also engine bay shot  (notice the bonnet stay is different to TWC and TPA, on those its a hoop type thing)

we spotted a lot of little differences between REV vs TWC/TPA, (REV451R being a fairly late Model 70 from October 1976  )
ill go into those little details a bit later on
it was very interesting to finally see the VIN plate of a Private Model 70  its very amusing how they just painted over the "Government Property" bit  (also interesting to see the Contract No Had bit is still there, makes sense tho given how Invacar just plucked it off the DHSS production line)

all in all an Awesome weekend, and a very successful collection caper  (this is also my first collection caper!)
I have a few more pictures etc that ill be posting about in a while once I have settled down a bit more  (and im sure many other people have pictures and videos they will be sharing, I look forward to seeing those  I have been keeping an eye on autoshite over the weekend on my iPad )

So as you know, probably, I've got a Magnum Grey Mondeo ST TDCI Estate as a daily driver, and these things do have quite the appetite for front tyres.
Well, after spending all my spare income on the T4, and moving the ST220 to the workshop to get it done, I found myself in a bit of a pickle, my Nexen front tyres (I run 235 45 R18's on this car, the additional sidewall is nicer on pothole addled roads) were a bit.. well they were well beyond their best, showing signs of significant scrub on the outside edge and even wear across the main body down to the wear markers.  This is in no small part, I'm sure, to my enthusiastic driving style.
I was perfectly happy with the budget Nexen tyres, they've performed really well, very hard to unsettle even in the wet, unless you're being a proper pillock of course, but then we're talking about me.
Someone told me that Roadstone Tyres are the same as the Nexen, but a bit cheaper, so i was going to buy a set of these, but for £20 a tyre less, there were some HiFly Tyres that would get me out of a pickle, snappily named the HF805
So I did it.  I went with a total unknown Chinese tyre, to get me out the shit until I'm less of a financial disaster.
OK, OK, it's very early days, they'll probably wear to snot in a few months of abuse, but I've noticed so far, my fuel economy has started to creep up, the car feels a bit more cushioned over bumps, they don't seem to unsettle or try and throw me into a hedge or ditch and the road noise is less than the worn out Nexens were by some way.
The tread pattern is nigh on identical.  They were a bit more of a struggle to get on the rim, as they seem a bit more stiff than the Nexen was, and yes I'm yet to try cold and wet horrible weather performance on them. (although there was a bit on the drive home where I had some wet leaves and mud on a corner, thanks to a considerate farmer.., but no drama), but right now, I think I've saved myself £40 and I've kept my car legal.
Tune in next week, for Dave dies in a ditch after Chinese OMG WTF Tyre failure.

The 405 was subjected to a marathon cleaning yesterday, took ages but its looking tremendous.
First it got a standard wash, I've no hose so I had to use my crappy 5L pressure sprayer.
I had made a monumental veg oil mess, this stuff can be brutal to get off but some engine degreaser shifted it in a giffy.

I then went over the full car with a clay bar. Then some Autoglym polish and finally some Bilt Hamber wax. Would recommend both polish and wax heartily. The wax is reasonably hard work to buff off although I have been applying it fairly liberally. It lasts absolutely ages though.

So instead of sleeping, I got another plate quite suited to this particular motor car. All will be revealed after the transfer process has completed.

To the tune of Amy Winehouse's Rehab:

They showed me a Rover auto
    And I said
    "No no no".
    I'm barely in the black
    And if this comes back
    You'll know, know, know
    I ain't got a dime
But I thought bidding was fine
And now I've won a Rover auto
But I can't go go go......

    Good news big cat lickers!
The black mumba has raided my wallet today along with its mate the 635. The Jaag done quite well out of it though with some new parts as follows:

Water pump Idler pulley Alternator belt Rear track arms Rear ARB links Rear ARB urethane bushes Front ARB urethane bushes
I think that's it. Apparently the rear ARB is a sod to do as it's up on top of the subframe and there's no room to do nufink. May have to drop the frame a bit so it'll need marking up before hand as there is 9mm of play once loose! It looks as though I won't be changing out all the bushes at the moment. I've read about hydrobush content in places and reports of urethane bushes making the ride worse if these get changed. Moar research is required here. For now, a little survey is required to see if, like most, the fluid has ruptured through any degraded rubber sealing. Don't know when I'm going to do all this work yet. Plus I got the last urethane bushes for the 635 that go on the rear trailing arms, that will make it 100% pollied up once done. Not looking forward to that little sweetheart of a job I can tell you. And I'm doing this for pleasure?

With the service and brake pads I have now just exceeded the price of what I paid for the car itself. So now the car is worth.... What I paid for it!

Makes perfect sense. That is also why I'm not an accountant.

Now at cairn lodge on the M74.
    Pooh count currently at 2
    Coffee approaching double figures
    Water bottles still untouched
No filling station shots yet as the car was handed over with a full tank of fuel!
Top seller(s), would buy 4x4 sports tourers with cooling issues again 😉🙂
