Traffic officers. They office traffic. More importantly, they inadvertantly make other road users think that they're old bill so they slow down to 60 hitting the brakes hard, pull into the slow lane like they should have been in the first place and clear a path for me. I like office trafficers.

Newank autojumble hasn’t been any good for years. If you want an overpriced NOS wing for a Riley 45/76 or Austin Atrocious maybe but for regular stuff, no.

I investigated why the driver's side window wasn't working, armed with my voltmeter and some plucky determination.
I discovered why one speaker wasn't working - it wasn't plugged in.
Also, the reason why the window motor wasn't working? There isn't one. Just some Wickes drainpipe. Hmm.

Painting wheels whilst they are still on the car is the automotive equivalent of ironing a shirt whilst wearing it.

Despite all Voxalls r shit I've got a lot of time for Omegas and yours looks great. The money side of things probably doesn't look too bad either when you think about what you'd be throwing away on monthly payments on something new and similarly capable.

I always liked Scorpios and Omegas/Senators the only cars from those hateful brands that did anything for me.

The Elite is very soft and a bit wallowy in standard form. The common mod used to be to swap to MV6 suspension but that's rarer than rocking horse shit now. I was lucky enough to see an ad for ex police front struts just after I got the car so thought I would give them a try. I then realised that someone had fitted estate rear springs which made the rear sit too high. I knew from experience that elite rear springs are very soft indeed, so fitted a new set of standard spec springs. Then refurbed the wishbones with new rear bushes, balljoints and polybushed front bushes.
Then had the four wheel alignment done and was very pleased to find that I had ended up with an example that felt nice and tight, and handles superbly for a big barge yet had lost little of the ride comfort in the process.
Recently the self levelling rear dampers finally gave up. Only available from Germany at £500 a pair ! Fitted a new pair of Sachs rear dampers which has made the rear a bit tighter than it was, so still happy enough, although ideally I would have liked to have kept the self levelling.
Anyway, thanks all for the kind comments about the old girl.

I think the suspension needs to be set on the highest setting, and knobbly A/T tyres fitted.

Just been outside to clean the dashboard, as my earlier anti covid wiping had dulled the plastics.

Behold the magnificence of a freshly delivered winnerwagon Arrgh plus. ?.

For those that missed the raffle it was advertised as fusty. Oh my god was it fusty.

And it smelt rather strongly as well. But it was a hot Bank Holiday Monday afternoon, a traditional car wash time, so got to it. Every internal surface flashed and scrubbed. The outside had tons of leaf litter and pollen so that got a snowfoam and attacked with a broom.
    Some time (6hrs later)

It's a lot lot cleaner inside, I've left the windows cracked so it should dry out quickly and hopefully ventilate. It's already infinitely nicer inside even though it's a bit damp. Outside needs a machine polish and wheels and maybe the bumpers painting if they don't polish up nicely.
I did get excited at one point about the matching good brand rear tyres until I checked the date code

    And the fronts are shoddier

    I don't think I've ever bought a car that doesn't need tyres. It's become a running joke. ?.
It idles well. Too well in fact, which will be related to the eml light on the dash. We will plug it in and see what it says.
It's bound to need a service and it's been strongly advised to check the brakes over so we will do that next
    But.
    Honestly.
It seems a cracking wee thing on initial impressions.
Thanks for dropping it up @Talbothope you had as easy a run back. I realised a while after you had gone that although I realised and said that I hadn't offered a brew, I didn't actually take the next step and offer one. Sorry bout that. ?
