Nice motor! Just plan very frequent oil changes if the tales of the 1.6 I've heard in the modern section are true!
Sunroofs are wicked in the snow, was about the only time I'd ever open them if I had one at the time

Figured it was about time I got round to fitting the new rear calipers to the ungrateful silver lump.
Disassembly of the old was easy, well apart from liberating the old caliper of its counterweight thingy - that took some swearing and percussive persuasion. Eventually it yielded to the application of lump hammer and we got it swapped across.
Putting the new one on was a piece of piss, apart from all the difficult bits... Namely getting the new pads into the carrier whatsit. More swearing, more doubting my life choices but they eventually went in.

Yes, that flexi isn't looking too clever but it looks only slightly better in person. Shiny new disc was put on too before bleeding the system (not my knuckles for a change) and putting the spinny rubber part back on.
Well all in its gone alright seeing as the work has been done by this idiot, successfully removed one source of squeaking when driving and she seems to roll a bit more freely.
    Now to fix everything else...

Early 107s etc had weak clutches. I think they were upgraded from about 2009. Plus many would have been used by learners / new drivers , so the clutch may have taken some abuse anyway.

Unless I'm reading this wrong, they'll make almost as much as any other MOT garage/centre.   I take my cars to my local garage, pay my fee and barring a few exceptions (car fails badly and gets scrapped, my tame welder isn't available to fix rot I missed before the test) if it fails I'll take it back within the free re-test period.  One fee paid.
With the above model if it failed I'd still take it away, fix it and return for a pass, at which time they'd be paid their fee.  One fee paid.
They will only lose in the case of a bad fail where the car is taken away and scrapped, or if the car keeps getting presented without all the fails being fixed, and as mentioned above they probably have a piss take limit!

Presumably you can't drive base spec models like an L, only the premium spec versions like the GLS

Well,  it was fairly cheap given the current market and it isn't totally ditched inside...
The positives stop there really;  it's small, diesel and has only one key.
Oh yes and it cuts out when driven -  and the starter motor is Nafferton Athletic.

I shall be dragging it home later in the week all being well.

Took a trip to Luton and collected a wing for my S211 in the correct colour, came back with a door and wing mirror too. Hoping the mirror is auto dimming!  Easy 47mpg on the way back at 56mph.

Surely the solution would be to jam some stones in all the way around the tyre to compensate on the low spots and then it would drive bang on.
Or maybe just swap the front and rear wheels to rule out the rims. I'd suspect bent drive shafts though. Either way a no lose bargain.

There are anything from £2k to £9k on autotrader , depending on conditions and miles obviously. Most of the expensive ones seem to have had an engine rebuild. Impreza special editions make the money and I can’t remember any special wagons.
Trouble is keeping it on the road costs more than any increase in value.
